I have to admit I have been very excited about the start of this year’s Dancing with the Stars … but after hearing that Melissa Rycroft of the Bachelor might be replacing Nancy O’Dell my excitement was increased 1000 percent. It’s not so much that I was a huge Melissa fan, just that it was great to see someone go from suffering such a humiliating break up to bouncing back and putting herself on the line for DWTS in less than a week.
With only 48 hours to learn her dance … a record for shortest time in DWTS history … it was hard to believe she would make it through her first week … and that saddened me a little …. she would experience two devastating losses in such a short time … but hey, I am getting a head of myself. Tom Bergeron didn’t even announce the two new dancers till mid way through the show. So let’s back up a little and find out who danced what, what the studio judges and the ART judges thought of it all. Sitting in as judges for ART are Funnygirl, Jlyl and Chairo.

First up was LIL’ KIM and last year’s champ Derek Hough. Lil’ Kim got it out there right from the start that she spent some time in jail. I admire her for this admission and applaud the fact, it cannot, now be dredged up by others and used against her. The couple danced the Cha Cha Cha, and didn’t do a bad job. It was a little unrefined for my taste, but I am taking into account that this was the first week. I think Lil’ Kim has potential and as the season progresses I think we can look to see a lot of improvement if she makes it through. (by Chairo)

Our second ART judge is Jlyl and this is what she had to say about the Lil’ Kim, Derek Hough duo: I didn't anticipate liking Lil' Kim since I never have before, and the fact that she started off by telling us that she started watching DWTS in prison didn't really endear her to me. At least she's honest, though, right? Oh, and she's dedicating her first dance to all of her girls in the clink. How heartwarming. It always cracks me up to hear the band playing these songs and Nasty is no exception. I have to say that Lil' Kim has some dance technique that goes beyond shaking what her mama gave her, but I'm distracted from her dancing by how much Derek Hough loves himself. Personally, I think that she may be more of a force this season than I would've ever thought, and I'm also thankful that she covered up both of the twins. (by Jlyl)

I think Derek's displays are so much more gratifying than say, um, Cheryl Burke's or maybe Karina's or Edyta's. What's the diff Jlyl? :oooo In fact, if it weren't for his peacock-like displays this train wreck would have had casualties. I was not impressed at all. (funnygirl)

Tom Bergeron made a comment that might have been better left unsaid: “I’m dedicating my hosting tonight to everyone at Riker’s Island.”

The studio judges had this to say:

Len: That was first class, but it needs refinement.
Bruno: You work wonders with the tushy … good potential
Carrie Ann: good potential, relax a little.

Lil’ Kim received 7’s from all three judges giving her 21/30 for the night.

Now might be a good time to interject that before any of the contestants are eliminated they will dance again next Monday. The first elimination will be held next Tuesday. Something new added this year is the fact the bottom two will have a dance off to try to raise their score with the studio judges.

BELINDA CARLISLE of the GO GOS and her partner, Jonathan Roberts were up next. Their dance was the waltz. Sorry to say Belinda was a little klutzy for me. She had some good moments, but overall it just felt unnatural. It appeared that Jonathan kept the routine pretty easy and even that didn’t help her much. I hope she sticks around awhile because I sort of enjoy looking at Jonathan … he is so nice, and such a gentleman. Maybe it should be mentioned that during rehearsals Belinda got sick at her stomach everytime Jonathan had to spin her. She said that she didn’t experience that on the dance floor. (by Chairo)

Jlyl had this to say: Belinda showed us what Heaven on Earth is like back in the '80s. I've always been a HUGE fan of hers and while I don't really think she'll win this season, I do hope that she'll have a good run. She seemed to be pretty overwhelmed in the rehearsals, which concerns me. She's dancing the waltz tonight, so she will need to keep her head together and not let her nerves take over so that she can look effortless. I find her performance rather boring, and it doesn't help that she's wearing some icky mustard yellow dress. I wish that they would have punched it up a bit. I will always love the Go Gos, but I have to admit she did have some awkward moments. (by Jlyl)

What a lot of crap. I absolutely love Jonathan and his choreography. She is paired with the best ballroom choreographer in the lot and she looks like she's drunk. I haven't seen a display so garish since Trista's love affair with the camera in Season 1 (remember that? :O )What is with the ballroom costumes this season? Why do the stars all look like old ladies and the pros look like over-sprayed strippers? Come on costume department PICK IT UP!! (funnygirl)

Bruno was up first for the studio judges and he said that she came out looking like Julie Andrews but soon became Cloris Leachman. You need to extend your lines and you were heavy footed. He gave her a 5.
Len: There were awkward moments. Good job on a difficult dance. He gave her 5.
Carrie Ann: You need to trust Jonathan. Let him lead you. She gave her 6.
Her total was 16/30 and Jlyl and I thought it was a fair score.

LAWRENCE TAYLOR and Edyta drew the Cha Cha Cha for their first dance. LT is just hoping he doesn’t ‘bring the dance down’ and is afraid to ‘look like a fool.’ LT’s dance for me was reminiscent of Emmet Smith’s first few weeks of dancing. Not real bad but not very interesting either. To me it seemed he looked completely uncomfortable, was too stiff and tried way too hard instead of letting it come naturally. I like LT though, so I hope he is around awhile. (Chairo)

Lawrence is partnered with Edyta, who says that she always brings seduction to the dance floor. I realize that most men are just looking at the amount of skin she's showing, but in my opinion the girl seriously needs a stylist. Her rehearsal outfits are mostly baby doll nightgowns paired with leg warmers. I don't approve. Anyway, back to the dancing. It has always seemed to me that the male celebrities have a bit of an advantage because the women are generally the ones doing the flashier moves. In their dance, Edyta did a lot of flitting around Lawrence, but I think that he held his ground. He has rhythm and he wasn't too awkward. I think that he'll do okay this season. (Jlyl)

The only thing amazing about his performance is he wasn't sporting wood by the time Edyta got done draping herself all over him. It's so obvious she was disguising the fact that in the six weeks he's had to practice he hasn't learned anything other than how to make excuses and whine about how tight his shoes are. :cry (funnygirl)

Carrie Ann: You didn’t live up to the legend yet. You need to get down and dirty. 6/10
Len: you need naturalness, but well done. I enjoyed watching. 5/10
Bruno: you couldn’t find the dance (or maybe he said “I” couldn’t find the dance” 5/10
His total was 16/30.

STEVE O and Lacey hit the dance floor with the waltz. For a Lacey dance it was very tame and not much of a strain for even a horrible dancer, which I expected Steve would be. BUT, I was wrong, sort of. He was entertaining and I really enjoyed watching. He wasn’t a great dancer, however. I do hope they stick around awhile because I really enjoy watching Lacey. I fell in love with her dance on So You Think You Can Dance (DWTS now had 3 SYTYCD alumni) Last year she was dubbed the rebel because she tended to have a loose interpretation of the dances wanted by the judges. However the fact she went so far proves America liked her rebellion. Just as a matter of information, I had never heard of Steve O before DWTS. (Chairo)

Steve-O is up next and we learn that his friends Johnny Knoxville and Wee Man are there to watch. Thankfully, they are all fully dressed. Apparently, his partner, Lacey Schwimmer is the rebel of the dance world. I'm not sure what that really means, but okay. There must be a story there from a previous season that I am unaware of. In the heartwarming moment of the intro, we learn that Steve-O is now clean and sober. This will seriously improve his ability to learn to dance. Tonight, they're dancing the waltz, and Steve-O hopes to prove that he can go from a Jacka$$ to a gentleman. I really don't want to like this guy, but I have to admit that I'm starting to a little bit. He hams it up on the stage and he isn't exactly graceful, but he has a certain charm. I'm not sure if his fan base will be tuning in to DWTS and voting to keep him, but I think that he should at least be able to stay ahead of Wozniak. The studio audience likes him anyway. (Jlyl)

Okay, I could be really crass here. I have never been a fan of "Jackass" or any of the members of the show, but knowing where Steve-O was a year ago (scary) and where he is now is amazing. It appears as if he's really trying too. Not just at the dance, but at rehab. I love Lacey and I have been a fan of hers since she was on SYTYCD and I was a little worried that her time this season was going to be limited because of this pairing. However, after watching last night, I am hopeful. Here's hoping Steve-O can learn more than just the 12 steps! (funnygirl)

Len: I like that you came out committed. Not quite what I was expecting … I was expecting worse. 5/10
Bruno: You made me laugh. It wasn’t good technique but it was entertaining. 6/10
Carrie Ann: Tongue in cheek Carrie Ann said she was mesmerized by his technique. (at least I hope it was tongue in cheek) It was humorous and entertaining. 6/10

He ended up with 17/30, which means he won’t end up in last place.

GILLES MARINI is hooked up this season with Cheryl Burke. The naked neighbor from Sex in the City, is one heck of a sexy guy and his accent is to die for. I am already in love. Talk about being mesmerized, I couldn’t take my eyes off of this HOT and SEXY Cha Cha Cha. I don’t know if the technique was good and I don’t know if he made mistakes … for that matter I don’t even care about technique and mistakes right now. This guy sizzles. I would love to see Gilles dance with the Rebel, Lacey. Cheryl is one of my least favorite pros but maybe that will change if she can keep Gilles on the show till the end. However, it was pointed out a number of times that he doesn’t have the fan base most of the other stars have. Cheryl says during rehearsals that she wants this dance so hot that people feel uncomfortable watching … well don’t know about being uncomfortable but it was hot. After the dance Samantha Harris lets us in on the fact Gilles’ son is in the audience .. what a blow to MY fantasy … he’s married. (Chairo)

Gilles apparently has a hard time being masculine during rehearsals and he also realizes that he has a smaller fan base than most of the competitors, so he has to get votes that are actually based on his dancing. Gilles and Cheryl take the stage and the boy definitely has some skills. And, while he isn't really my type, I can see that women across the country will be swooning as long as he's dancing. He's definitely the best dancer of the men so far, so I think that his potential for making it another week is pretty good. Unlike me, he most definitely is Carrie Anne's type and possibly Bruno's type too. (Jlyl)

I absolutely abhor Cheryl Burke. She makes me uncomfortable just watching her talk about dancing. Her noteriety comes from all the TMZ footage of her drunken exits from various nightclubs. I don't know who he is, but he does dance pretty good. I started a drinking game this season. Every time Cheryl whips her head around during a dance, take a drink. I guaranty you will be hammered by the end of her waltz. (funnygirll)

Carrie Ann: woooooo hooooooo FIRE! Nice lines. Fantastic! (between blushes) 8/10
Bruno: clothes on or off you can strut your stuff. 8/10
Len: great mix. Fabulous! 8/10
Giving Gilles a 24/30 for the night. The highest so far.

At this point in the evening we get a little information about Nancy O’Dell and Jewel. Both had to drop out due to injuries to their legs. Though it wasn’t mentioned, Gilles also suffered an injury but it wasn’t bad enough to keep him from dancing. Nancy was still on board until 48 hours ago when our first mystery replacement was invited in to take her place. We also learn that Jewel is married to contestant Ty Murray. Karina and Maks are engaged and Julianne and contestant Chuck Wicks are dating.

One might wonder if Julianne and country singer, CHUCK WICKS, our next couple on the dance floor, will still be together when the show is over. During rehearsal they had both positive and negative thoughts about the situation in which they now find themselves. Julianne the teacher and Chuck the student. During their waltz, Julianne was flawless as usual. Chuck, not so much. He wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t a stand out either. He had some very good moments and some not so good. But I still hope he hangs around awhile. He is nice to look at. (Chairo)

Next up is the couple, Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough. I guess Chuck is a country singer, but this is the first I've heard of him. It can be hard to teach something to someone you love, so this couple being paired together could actually be a disadvantage. They dance the waltz and Julianne looks lovely. Chuck, however, is kind of awkward and uncomfortable. I just don't enjoy watching him – maybe it's because of his nerves. I didn't really find him graceful, but I can't say that any of the other men were graceful either. I'm kind of annoyed that Julianne tries to make little excuses for him the whole time the judges were talking. He's nervous! He's tall! She's whiny! (Jlyl)

I love this pairing. They are not only beautiful, but he's a man's man. He may be awkward to watch right now but you just get this Clark Gable vibe from him. He can finish up a decent waltz and then go kick the crap out of the french guy with Cheryl. I see them going a long way and only getting better. (funnygirl)

Bruno: Some times it was good and other times it looked like you were chasing your partner. You need to calm down. You have what it takes. 7/10
Len: It was a bit hectic here and there but you had good foot work. You need to refine it a little. 7/10
Carrie Ann: one of the most graceful men. When you turn her, keep her feet on the ground. 6/10
Chuck ends up with 20/30

Now a little meet with Jewel who was looking forward to competing against her husband, Ty and Nancy is disappointed she can’t dance.

Jewel’s replacement is finally introduced:

HOLLY MADISON will be dancing with Dmitry (the second SYTYCD alumni) who felt like he was cheating on Jewel when he first met Holly. The Girl Next Door star and Playboy Cover model, had a week to learn the Cha Cha Cha. She didn’t learn it very well. I can’t remember a woman except for maybe Cloris Leachman and Susan Lucci who had so little ear for music. I hope she improves because I was looking forward to watching Dmitry dance this year. Dmitry said he tried to keep the dance very basic since she has so little time to learn, but again .. it didn’t help. (Chairo)

The first replacement that is announced (to nobody's surprise since these names have been leaked for days now) is Holly Madison, reality “star” and Hef's former girlfriend. She only had 5 days to prepare, so you have to give her a ton of credit for putting herself out there. I've always enjoyed watching her on Girls Next Door and I hope that she can just make it through the first week. She looks great and I have to say that the Playboy girl showed up looking more tasteful than a couple of the dance pros. Her lack of preparation is evident at several points, but she's a performer and she has a great time, which makes it pleasant to watch. (Jlyl)

I love Dmitry. Wasn't he dating Carrie Ann at one point? Are they still dating? Chairo, can you look into that? :laugh I really didn't get to watch too much of this first dance because the camera-dude kept going over to Jewel who had this immensely disgusted look on her face. I was cracking up. I have to admit I was prepared to react to Holly like I did to Kim Kardashian last season, but it didn't suck. Considering the amount of time, etc. I was somewhat impressed with her. (funnygirl)

Len: wasn’t bad but not good enough 6/10
Carrie Ann: You have charisma … next week you need to show more strength 6/10
Bruno: you are easy on the eyes. There were some good spots. You lost your timing. 6/10
Holly ended up with 18/30

(It should be noted here that it was pointed out that neither of the replacement women would be given any special consideration due to their late entry into the competition. They will still be judged on what the judges see no matter how much or how little amount of time they had to learn it)

Now we learn that Melissa Rycroft, recently dumped on national television, will replace Nancy O’Dell. We are given a glimpse of one of the most over ran video out takes on the internet … Melissa being told by Jason he was ending things with her because he can’t get Molly off of his mind. (If you ask me Melissa is the winner in THAT situation .. America loves her and hates him)

Jewel’s husband TY MURRAY, rodeo cowboy, is teamed up with the last SYTYCD alumni, Chelsie Hightower who is making HER debut on DWTS. They dance the Cha Cha Cha. During pre-dance interviews Ty says he is afraid he will be out of his element …. Wait a moment, rodeo, bullriding … the dance floor … now what would make him think he was out of his element? He is finding dancing like bullriding: you are never completely ready, it’s just your turn. He is also rather worried about old friends laughing at him, cuz he’d laugh at them. Well, I think good ole Ty should go back to the rodeo. He was heavy footed, and really Jewel would have beat him hands down. He didn’t do too bad when he was dancing on his own, but didn’t make a real good partner. (Chairo)

Next to dance, though, is Ty Murray, who is a rodeo champion. I actually just saw the rodeo last Saturday – I'm a huge fan – so I'm really excited to see Ty dance tonight. I'm not sure how well he's going to do, but I hope he pulls it out. He's so cute in the rehearsals, and he fully realizes that he is setting himself up for a lot of crap from his cowboy friends. He's still and awkward in the cha cha, but he has a certain quality that's just adorable. Okay, maybe it's because I'm a sucker for country boys. His smile does light up the room, though, and he keeps it on his face no matter what his dancing looks like. Jewel just kind of giggles at his performance. Chelsie has a lot of work on her hands. I'm going to have to make all of my phone calls and internet votes this week if I want to see the cowboy again … I'm kind of hoping that Wozniak will be Ty's saving grace … is that mean? (Jlyl)

I'm a sucker for country boys too Jlyl and I really didn't know much about Ty Murray until he married Jewel. I'm going to give you some guff about saying Jewel would have beat him hands down because you never got to see her dance. If there is one thing singer's have proven time and again on this show is great singing doesn't always lead to great dancing. :giggle: I too liked his "aw shucks" attitude, but mostly I loved the choreography. I am going to throw out there that I am so glad that DWTS has started eliciting the help of outsiders. I do have my faves, but we need some fresh moves. I love Edyta, but I think we've seen all her "good" moves already. Thank you ABC for teaming up with Fox and hiring the SYTYCD alumni to help out. (funnygirl)

Bruno: It looked more like an Army drill. There is always next week. 5/10
Len: you chose to see beyond your comfort level (?) 4/10 (lowest score I ever saw)
Carrie Ann: you are one cute cowboy. I loved the way you attacked the dance. It was contagious to watch. 5/10

Ty ended up with the lowest score of the evening; so far: 14/30

Mark and Olympic gymnast SHAWN JOHNSON (the youngest ever contestant on DWTS) dance the waltz. I thought Shawn was a little clumsy, but also had some very good moves. She did a lot of ‘gymnastic’ hands. That was a little distracting. I recognize this because my daughter took gymnastics for over 10 years. I wasn’t real impressed but not too disappointed either. I think she will stay around awhile and get better as time goes on. (Chairo)

Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, the youngest contestant to ever be on DWTS is up next. She really is adorable and while you may think that gymnastics would put her at an advantage, it really could hold her back because the technique is very different in most of the dancing she'll be doing. She's doing a waltz this week, which is very different from her personality and what she is used to. She's beautiful, especially when she smiles, and I think that she is very graceful. They take advantage of her flexibility, which is smart – that is definitely a part of gymnastics that will help her out. (Jlyl)

This was my favorite performance of the night. You could tell that she had been practicing for weeks and dedicated herself to the process. Does she have some kinks to work out, yes. This only means she will only get better. She's paired with my favorite Latin choreographer and I am so excited to see what Mark will come up with having such a tiny dancer to work with. Gymnastics hands or not, the girl brought it! :yay: <---note the gymnastics hands (funnygirl)

Carrie Ann: I was truly moved. You had elegance, grace and good footwork. 8/10
Bruno: surprisingly refined. Watch the gymnastic arms. 8/10
Len: very appealing. Fantastic. 7/10
Total for the night: 23/30

Now comes STEVE WOZNIAC, co-founder of Apple Computer and his partner Karina. There just isn’t anything to say here. It was a total mess, but actually much better than I thought it would be. Steve isn’t totally without grace. There was a little (grace) that popped out once or twice. I personally actually thought he was better than Ty Murray. Given the chance I think he can get better more easily than Ty, because he tries to fit mathematical equations into the dance. He didn’t actually succeed tonight, but I think given time, he could do better …. Naw! .. I don’t really think that at all, but I wanted to be nice. He did after all give us Apple (Chairo)

Karina, says that she can bring the sexy side out of any partner. I guess we'll find out how true that is, now, won't we? Steve approaches the dancing very analytically, and his mission is to prove that nerds can dance. I'm not sure how far he'll get with that, but the guy does have an endearing quality about him. He's really bad, though. Really bad. Karina tries to distract us with a simultaneously hideously ugly and oddly revealing outfit, but there's no covering it up. The dude is seriously putting forth his best effort, though, which is nice to see. (Jlyl)

This is the guy who was paired with Kathy Griffin :suspicious so immediately the "endearing qualities" you speak of Jlyl and Chairo give me the heebie-jeebies! He was better than Lawerence Taylor only because we actually got to see him dance a bit. I'm sure this is only because there was no way Karina was going to be able to drape enough of herself over him to camo the mistakes. (funnygirl)

Len: it held my attention. You went for the fun. Disaster over all 4/10
Bruno: hilarious or delirious – terrible 4/10
Carrie Ann: you are what this competition is all about. Doing something new and different, going out on a limb. 5/10

Poor Steve ends up with 13/20

Comedian David Alan Grier is up next with partner Kym. When he first walks in Kym has no idea how to take him. At one point he tells her he is doing this dancing thing to lose weight and get a swimmers body. Several times during the rehearsal he asks if he has lost weight yet. She is confused because he says all of this with a serious face. She begins to wonder if he is in this for the right reason. She soon finds out he is and they begin to make progress. The dance was unusual .. well the dancer was. He primped to the audience the whole time, but he was fairly graceful. The problem was he kept changing expressions and none fit the dance. He was fun to watch however and I hope he sticks around awhile .. we need some comic release. (Chairo)

David Alan Grier is paired with Kym Johnson. Kym apparently didn't realize that she was being paired with a comedian … or she just didn't find him at all funny. He's joking around, but he isn't taking the dancing as a joke – he really is putting forth his best effort. They do a waltz and Kym is in some weird genie in a bottle dress, so it's a little hard to concentrate on David's dancing. He does a good job, though. He really is graceful and he carries himself very well. Dude has some flexibility too. He may be the surprise of the season, because I doubt most people expected this from him. (Jlyl)

This guy had me cracking up from his intro. I so hope he sticks around. He is totally capable and I hope he finds the right "characters" to portray in each of these dances because if he and Tom Bergeron ever hit a repoire, nobody else will stand a chance. (funnygirl)

Bruno: some good lines but on the holds you got too close. You had too many characters. 6/10
Carrie: you have to be careful with your face. 6/10
Len: there was more good than bad. 7/10

David will probably not be sent home with his current score of 19/30

Maks and DENISE RICHARDS are going to try to cha cha cha their way into our hearts tonight. Maks gets the distinction of being the first pro to make his partner cry. They totally misunderstand each other and I guess one of the rumors about Denise being so determined to win that she hired a dancing coach were not true. At least based on her performance I hope she didn’t spend money on lessons that didn’t work. I must confess I didn’t like Denise in her Bond movie because she got to be tooooo close to one of my favorite fantasies, Pierce Brosnon. But life goes on and here she is dancing with one of my favorite pros. She isn’t terrible but she is pretty bad. Sometimes it amazes me how little natural grace some women possess. Having said all that, I do believe she will be around awhile and get better as time goes on and she gets more experience under her belt. (Chairo)

Denise Richards is up next and she's one of my favorites. I've always been a fan of hers, but I do have to say that I'm not sure how well she'll do tonight. She's a little clumsy. Her clips of rehearsal are the first that include tears – her partner is a little hard on her. It's because he wants her to succeed, though, so I think that it will be good for her. She has a lot of enthusiasm as they do their cha cha and she really doesn't do all that bad. They keep it pretty simple, but she's fairly clean and has some good flexibility too. (Jlyl)

What a MESS! :giggle: I do not share in either of your assertions about this fame-ho! What you witnessed tonight is karma coming back to take her down at the knees. What staying power she may have rests in Maks' popularity, but I think his will go down the tubes faster than Cheryl Burke's if he doesn't learn to put his money where his mouth is. He's proven time and again that if he is stuck with a partner that has no natural ability, he's not "all that". Sorry guys, but I don't see this duo lasting long. (funnygirl)

Carrie Ann: You looked terrified, but I think you have potential. 6/10
Len: Loose. Be yourself and dance. 6/10
Bruno: You have it all but you don’t know what to do with it. Dig deep and come out and deliver. 6/10
Denise has 18/30

Finally the moment I have been waiting for, MELISSA RYCROFT and her partner Tony wait on stage for the music to start. There are not pre dance day interviews because she has only been there for 48 hours. No other contestant has started this late in the game. I have to admit I adore Melissa and have very high expectations as she and Tony move onto the dance floor. I am totally NOT disappointed. Melissa has soooooo much natural grace. She and Tony danced the waltz as if they had been dancing together for a very long time. They were also dancing to Moon River, one of my favorite songs, so that was an added plus for me. Anyone watching this dance, comparing it to the dances of those who had had weeks to rehearse, would never believe Melissa had only been rehearsing for 2 days. She wasn’t perfect but she was so much better than any other woman who danced tonight. She had ballet lessons as a child and that did affect some of her moves which leaned towards ballet rather than waltz. Most recently she has been a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader so I am sure those moves also affected her moves. Tony admitted later that he tried to gear this dance to her known talents since they had so little time together. I loved it and I believe she is the woman to beat. If she is this good already, she can only get better. I also was thrilled she got a standing ovation not just from the audience but also from Nancy O'Dell. Good job Melissa. She may have lost the man on the Bachelor but if sure looks like she has a chance at that glittering dance ball. (Chairo)

The last celebrity to dance is Melissa, who only had two days to prepare. They once again show her getting dumped (seriously, ABC?) and then finally let us see her dance. She's visibly nervous, but she looks beautiful and of course she has a huge smile on her face. Her previous dance experience is obvious from the start and the only thing that detracts from the performance is that they have seemingly bedazzled her tramp stamp in some way. Actually, her outfit isn't very cute at all, but she certainly is. In my opinion, she had the best dance of the night and I'm going to pick her right now to win the season. Yep, I said it. (Jlyl)

Let me get this right. You want a woman whose only claim to fame is she was dumped on national television (voluntarily) to win?? Yeah, she did pretty good for the amount of time she had, but if she wins it will be clearly based on pity votes. I give her props for agreeing to do this, but it probably only came because there was a lawsuit threatened and they already picked a better woman to be the next Bachelorette. I feel sorry for the poor dude who had the audacity to change his mind and let her go as opposed to dragging it on and on knowing there was absolutely no future in it for them. It's all so very high school and I have to quote Janice Dickenson (I watched a Top Model marathon yesterday) "shut up and grow up, this isn't high school. Nobody cares!" (funnygirl)

Len: One door shuts and another door opens. The bachelor’s loss is DWTS gain. You have danced before, probably ballet, you need to get off the toes and get your heels down. 7/10
Bruno: Whoever this bachelor guy is he is a loser. Grace and fluidity. 8/10
Carrie Ann: Wonderful job. Beautiful dancer. Match your emotions to the dance. 8/10

Melissa walks away with the high score for women with 23/30

All in all a great beginning to the season. There were good dances, bad dances and worst dances. But that is what we should expect at the beginning of the season. Two stood out, Gilles and Melissa and it’s not too far out of the realm of possibilities, if Gilles gets his fan base up the two of them could be dancing for that Glittering dance ball at the end of the season. I don’t want to jinx them by saying this because we have seen favorites get booted due to lack of America votes. I just hope the two of them are around for a long time. (Chairo)

Keep in the back of your mind that the country singer and the rodeo guy have a real strong southern army who aren't afraid to cast their votes! Some of your faves may go home prematurely as a result. ;) (funnygirl)

Recapping the scores:
Gilles – 24/30
Shawn and Melissa 23/30
Lil’ Kim – 21/30
Chuck – 20/30
David – 19/30
Holly and Denise - 18/30
Steve O 17/30
Belinda and LT - 16/30
Ty – 14/30
Steve W – 13/30

Carrie Ann dated Artem Chigvintsev, a dancer and former So You Think You Can Dance contestant, from 2006 to 2008; Chigvintsev was fifteen years her junior. I couldn't find anything so far about her and Dmitry ever dating but I'll keep looking

She probably didn't date Dmitry. I just knew it was a SYTYCD contestant. Thanks for looking it up Chairo.
