As most of you know I am a huge Chef Ramsay fan, though I am not a big fan of his foul mouth. I enjoy this show a lot and do my best to come up with an interesting title that will grab the reader but this week …. I am not sure it is worth the effort. Tonight’s show sucked in many ways. I have racked my brain for a catchy title but so far I am at a loss … maybe it will come to me as I recap this less than stellar episode. It could just be that this show is beginning to feel like a rerun … just different names and different faces … but the same ineptitude of the contestants and the same screaming by the self proclaimed best Chef in the World, as he told his breakfast guests this tonight, is getting a little redundant. First all of this screaming is not necessary. You can get upset with someone’s lack of performance but you don’t have to treat them like a child. Perhaps I’d enjoy sampling some of Ramsay’s creations but I doubt I’d ever want to work in a kitchen with him. Okay, enough editorializing. Tonight’s show didn’t have one saving grace but it did have the chefs preparing two meals instead of one. Plus the tide seemed to be turning for our ladies who have been losing steadily to the men. For some reason, which never became clear during tonight’s show, Chef Ramsay asked the women who the strongest cook on their team was … Carol spoke up and said her and Andrea. The men were asked the same question and to the dismay of Ben and probably others, Danny spoke up and said it was him. However they were not given the chance to debate Danny’s answer and as I said, it was never revealed at least in my opinion as to why the question was even asked. Serving breakfast to 100 children, represented by the Pacific Coast little football players and cheerleaders was the competition for the day. The women would prepare the means for the cheerleaders and the men would prepare for the football players. Seth got rather cocky and told the guys he’d do the eggs because he knew one of Ramsay’s recipes that was awesome … after a little trepidation they just told him to go for it. It won’t come as any surprise to find out Seth messed it up and lost the competition for the men. He was using this tiny little frying pan and tried to make up for the quantity by giving small portions … which Ramsay never mentioned and that surprised me. On the other side Colleen once again got screamed at to do her job since she seemed to be having more fun cheering with the cheerleaders .. and of course we got a little aside from her that she is still able to wear her cheerleading outfit. Why aren’t I surprised Colleen was a cheerleader? As I already revealed the ladies did win this challenge and their prize was a camping trip. The looks on their faces was priceless … camping was not what they had in mind knowing I am sure the great rewards the men had received. However frowns turned to smiles when Ramsay told them they were going camping Beverly Hills style. This meant a limo ride to the Beverly Wilshire Hotel for a day of pampering. The men’s punishment was to clean up BOTH kitchens and clean the dining room … spotless. Then they were to do the prep for BOTH kitchens for the evening service. Upstairs Ben and Danny got into a huge fight. The women heard them going at it and hoped it meant they were falling apart as a team. Ben had just told the cameras he was stepping up and taking over the leadership of the men’s kitchen, then told the men he worked hard helping Seth and Danny. Danny took exception to this and said all Ben did was plate a few pancakes which he appreciated. Ben was mad and said Danny was wrong he did more, but then they got into about which was the better cook. Ben said he could cook circles around Danny. Then Ben had to leave the room because he was so angry he told the camera if they weren’t where they were right now he’d go after Danny (physically). Robert talks to Danny and says he was upset over their fight, more with Ben than with Danny. He said Ben tried to make Danny feel small and that wasn’t right. Robert and Giovanni decide they want Ben gone…as does Danny. When the women return after their day of relaxation and pampering, they discover the prep work in their kitchen was not completed. Andrea complains, especially about a tomato butter sauce and the men were told they needed to get it prepared for them. Ben said he’d do it but he didn’t. Just before dinner service was to begin Andrea went back to the men’s kitchen and Ramsay asked what she was doing there … she told him they still didn’t have their tomato butter sauce. Ramsay yelled at the men and Ben said again he’d get it done, he had forgotten. Well he finally did and it tasted crappy per Chef Ramsay, who then accused Ben of trying to sabotage the women. Danny took over the assignment to prepare the sauce and Ramsay said it was tasty. To go over everything that went wrong with the dinner service would take more time than I am prepared to give to it. So a few highlights. Ben screwed up the lamp chops. They were wafer thin. Giovanni didn’t have the water ready for the pasta. Coi was making pasta before she even got an order for it. Colleen and LA were on mean and Colleen was driving LA crazy. She took 4 orders of wellington to the pass when only three were ordered. Coi dropped a pan of spaghetti, Seth was wiping his face on his cooking cloth. An hour into service and nothing had been served. Stuff finally went out and lo and behold it came right back … under cooked, over cooked, raw or a lettuce butt in the Ceasar salad etc, etc, etc. Service was a disaster. Ramsay closed it down and sent both teams to nominate two people. The men nominated Ben and Seth. The women nominated Lacey and Colleen, even though Coi had nominated herself when they were talking. Ramsay gave them all a chance to talk and sent Ben back in line … Giovanni, Robert and Danny looked like they had been kicked in the place no man wants to be kicked. Seth was sent from Hell’s Kitchen … Lacey was moved to the men’s team and Colleen went back with the women. The women were overjoyed to lose Lacey and the men who felt they had just gotten rid of one piece of crap were upset they received another to replace it. Next week, hopefully will be a little more interesting. |

I confess that I have had enough of Colleen, especially when she started doing those cheers. I like her manners and her ability to not speak that gutter talk I abhor, but to be candid she hasn't done anything very well. It's very difficult to understand what causes an otherwise good cook to fail at this. It just doesn't make sense sometimes. |
