I was wondering why this wasn't in the main forum and I realize it's because it's almost halfway through. I absolutely love this show. I do admit that I fast forward through a lot of the filler crap (i.e., interviews of contestants pre-weigh in). They always say the same thing. This season Kristin seems to be the spokesperson for the rest of the chubbies. I do like her personality, but she needs a new schtick or they need to tell her to say something different. I am still reeling at the notion that any mother would opt to stay over their child who is considerably larger than her. My daughter and I are doing a mother/daughter weight loss/fitness thing and I was screaming at the television. Helen goes into the hall of shame as far as I'm concerned. You could totally tell that this was nowhere near Shanon's idea. Discussed it my left foot! Helen told Shanon that she would go home if it came down to them. Granted, Shanon wasn't nearly putting in as much effort as her mother, but I think she needed to stay and change trainers. Clearly she needed some Jillian tough love as opposed to Bob's Zen approach. I think both trainers are right, but I do think personality plays a huge part in the success of a personal trainer relationship. I absolutely loved the mud wrestling scene. It looked like a lot of fun and it just goes to show the producers when you have a cast that young, things are going to get muddy. Is anybody else watching or am I out here alone?

I hate cliff-hanger episodes. HATE IT! This was the epi that one of the trainers was giong to do something so "mean". Really? That was mean? I think it's meaner when she tells them to get back on the treadmill during one of their meltdowns. I think Laura needs to be shook up, but I get hte impression that she takes every opportunity to walk away, have a moment, get some air... Looks like Phillipe is going to experience some roid rage next week and Jillian is the victim. I think the trainer they all go against is Bob because they are trying too hard to make us believe it's Jillian.

I had a love/hate relationship with last night's episode. It mostly deals with the editing of this show. It's idiotic. I really don't need to see a recap of Filipe's temper tantrum 30 seconds after viewing the original. What is up with these people? It is blatantly obvious that the people at the ranch haven't figured out that the mental part of weight loss far outweighs (pun intended) the physical aspect. I guaranty that 80% of the people on this season regain the weight. I hope Bob cares enough about the cousins that he does eventually make them be honest with themselves and him about what really did transpire with Jillian. I have a feeling their teammates are going to kick them to the curb before too long. Also, the loyalty aspect of this game means bupkus if you can't be honest with yourself! |

Did you watch? They all got to go home this week! How did they do? Did they cave or did they stay true to their diet because they knew there was no way they were going to get the hours of training in each day that they are used to? Biggest Loser was just mean enough to add a temptation on top of an at-home-challenge because apparently being "at home" wasn't enough of a challenge. They will each be running a 1/2 marathon (that's 13 miles), but they each also received a tin of 13 cookies. Each cookie consumed will add 5 minutes of time to one person's time. Who will cave to the cookie and who will just run their race honestly? There's a lot of smack talk about Sione and Tara and Helen? Really? Helen? I don't see her being a threat to anybody but maybe her kid. S Speaking of her kid...they showed a little bit of each contestant's homecoming and we only saw a cursory glance at Shannon since she's doing so horrific on her diet and exercise program. Helen tries to make it sound like she's doing really well, but let me give you the big indicator that she's not. Not only is she just as big as she was when she left the ranch, she did not participate in the 1/2 mile run like other eliminated contestants or the wives/husbands of the remaning contestants. Oh, I'm sure we'll hear how she had to work (blah, blah, blah), but I honestly feel that when mommy so selfishly gave up on Shannon, Shannon gave up on herself. Tara won the 1/2 marathon because Sione got a cramp in his quads 200 yards from the finish line. Let me tell you from experience that hurts like HELL! He's lucky there was a trainer available to help stretch him out and make sure he was okay before he got up and finsihed the final yardage. Tara only beats him by a minute, but because Helen the Terrible was the only one to eat a cookie and gave the minutes to Tara, the win and $10k goes to Sione. Tara is bitter and pissed. The weigh-ins went pretty well considering. However, the black team dominated again, but without much help from teh cousins he still dis her in the gym. Philipe only lost 2 pds and Sione 4. Those that work with Jillian lost 5-8 pds including Laura who reminded herself while she was at home that Jillian tells her she needs to do cardio-cardio-cardio so we get shots of Lauara running. Tara only lost 2 pds and coming off of a 0 pd weight loss the previous week she starts to crumble. Jillian tells us in voice over that Tara is manic and is over-training. She then yells at Tara and tells her she needs to listen to her as her trainer. It sounded very egotistical of Jillian, but she's absolutely right. Jillian has trained the most winners on this show after all! Bob's team is let down by the mother/daughter duo left in the game. Ron lost a massive 10 pds and Aubry (mom with 5 kids) found it in herself to stay disciplined enough to lose 5 pds. Kristin gained a pound and her mother Cathy lost 1. They head back to elimination. We see Cathy telling the dwindling blue team (down to 3 members) now that she is ready to go home and wants Aubry to stay. So they honor her wishes and send her home. Side note: Did anybody else ball like a little girl when they showed Ron and Michael's homecoming? Ron's youngest son weighs more than Michael did when he arrived at the ranch and he broke down the minute he saw how well his brother was doing (down 110 pds!). Because mom is thin and now dad and brother is thin he feels like an outcast. Ron promises him that they will make it happen for him too. Also, we get to see Aubrey's grotesquely obese father. I didn't get to see the whole thing because the show starts to bore me about this time, but I did get to see her call him out on his BS when he tells her he's already trying. She reminds him what he had for breakfast that morning! Good for you girl. Until next time... |
