Easin' into summertime... Posts: 3,514 Group: Writer Member #109 Joined: April 25, 2005	We have started the next season of Dancing With the Stars and I thought I would put something up where we can weigh in on the first night's show. So what did everybody think? Any favorites? I have to say I was honestly expecting to hate Lance Bass when I heard he was on board. Then I was upset that he was paired with one of my favorite reality television dancers, Lacey Schwimmer, but after seeing last night's performance they are my favorite! I even dialed in a vote for them. I thought Cloris LEachman was hysterical and enjoyed her performance after the dance more than the one during the dance. It's going to be a better season than I thought.

Opinionated Posts: 3,739 Group: Writer Member #317 Joined: August 14, 2005	CLoris needs to go next. I tune in to watch a dance contest, not a comedy routine. I like CLoris in her niche, I do not like her disruption of this show. Swearing about her score was not acceptable. Ok .. she is 82 but then she should also know better. Would Pricislla at 60 something have been given the same latitude last year? It seems every year they have to have a clown who gets carried a long, at the cost of dancers with actual potential, when they should never have been there in the first place ... like Jerry Springer, George Hamilton .. to name two. YES they entertain and YES they have a fan base, and YES they can be fun BUT at what cost? The cost is another dancer who could potentially go on to win if they had been given he chance. First night Cloris was funny ... I laughed with everyone else ... second night I had already had my fill. I have my favs ... Lacey and Lance, Macs and Misty and I sort of like Toni and the other long haired brunette who danced last last night. The football player isn't terrible either. I would however like to know how the JUDGES are judging. IF Len doesnt like the edge Lacey brings then why in the world was she brought on as a PRO? I agree with Bruno and love her style, but it seems Len will only give her grief and I suppose that means she has no chance to take her partner to the end. Too bad ... she was one of the most entertaining "pros" so far. Was sorry to see Edyta leave, but guess that's the luck of the draw .. and doesnt Cheryl look like she has added some weight to her form?

I love the levity that Cloris brings to the show. It's not like any of these celebrities have something riding on this. There is no money at stake and it's all in good fun. I too like to see the dancing, but at this point I think she can stick around for the next 5 weeks or so and not worry about losing a potential winner. I do agree about Lacey. I think those of us who have been watching since Season 1 can appreciate that she has brought a style that we haven't seen yet. Some of the rest is so passe' and I've seen it already. I don't know if Cheryl (yes, her rear-end is HUGE this year) is still a huge draw for the show or not, but I'm tired of her schtick. I'll miss Edyta too, but we need some new blood in here. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really am liking what Karina is bringing to the show this season. I really liked her and Rocco's performance last night. My fave was Misty and Maks and Warren (aka the big/fat boy) and Kym Johnson. I think if Lacey forgets about appeasing Len and does what she does best, she'll pull this off!!

Opinionated Posts: 3,739 Group: Writer Member #317 Joined: August 14, 2005	I didn't mention this before because I know how MOST feel about Karina, but I too found her less yukky this year. Maybe it's a change in HER attitude or maybe it takes awhile to get used to her but I too (don't faint FG) think like you she is more pleasant and interesting this year. I actually found myself disappointed she didn't get a higher score. Maybe it's because we haven't seen much of her 'private' time with her partner, which is when she is usually so 'superior' in her attitude ... whatever it is I like her this year. I don't like the other new female pro as much as Lacey. Lacey brings something so different and fresh, and I too hope she doesn't let Len hogtie her into being less than she is. America appears to love her so hopefully they will make up for any low scores from Len ... the other two judges appear to like her energy and new approach also. It will take me awhile to remember all the names but I do like the new 'old' guy that's back ... the one who won the first season (I didn't see it). I am disappointed in Lucci ... I think she is too stiff and agree she needs to bring some of the Erica, into her performance. She sort of reminds me of Priscilla ... except I like Pris. better. This does look like it will be a good year ... at least one can hope. As for Cloris, I am sticking to my guns on that one. She's funny ... but she can't dance. Every year they throw us one of those 'entertainers' who stay too long in the competition because of a huge fan base ... frankly I'd have rather seen Mary Tyler Moore ... but I digress ... she can't dance ... she talks out of turn ... she is foul mouthed and I'd rather see her leave sooner than later.

He wasn't good, but thought he'd get better. He probably would not have won, but who knows. It seems another season of not how good or bad you dance but who has the most fans. Sorry, but Cloris should have been booted...SHE has no potential.

I wasn't buying his "man's-man" schtick. I actually thought Kardashian should have gone. Oh well. Is it just me or has Ashley Delgrosso grown up quite a bit since season 1? I think I said this last season, but motherhood seems to agree with her immensely. She looked gorgeous last night and her dancing has matured as well.

Opinionated Posts: 3,739 Group: Writer Member #317 Joined: August 14, 2005	ooooooops ... silly me I thought it was a dance competition. LOL!!! I liked Ted ... sort of. I am also a Cloris fan .... I am just disturbed by her actions and her mouth. I have discovered from personal experience that when people get to a certain age they no longer censor themselves. And those of us who know better sometimes actually encourage this action with our supportive laughter. I knew a lady ... who was even older than Cloris ... she was sweet, kind and had all her brain cells functioning correctly. However, almost over night she found by acting and speaking like a small child ... she got laughs. She loved that and it continued for several years ... even though she was quite capable of acting like and adult and having an adult conversation. I stand by my thoughts ... Cloris needs to leave. SHe is not and will not be a good dancer. It is a shame to waste votes on someone who can't win this and lose someone who might possibly improve enough to win ... think Emmit Smith ... Jerry Rice etc. We have seen top of the pack dancers sent home by America in the past ... and I would hate to see that happen in order to be entertained by MS Cloris. Consider ... SYTYCD ... would they keep someone who acted as Cloris does? NOPE!!! it is a COMPETITION. Put her on a game show, or a comedy ... and I am a huge fan (loved her guest appearance on 2 and Half Men) but this is not the format for her comedy relief

The winner here gets a mirror ball trophy and bupkis for prize money. As far as her actions and her mouth, that's been her routine for years. She's always been eccentric and it's part of her charm. I don't think she'll last too much longer, but if La-Luci or Kardashian go before her, I will not be upset. I have to say that there are no real stand-outs thus far in this season as far as dancing is concerned. I think more people are voting for the pros this season more than ever too.

The only one I REALLY didn't want to stay was that male comedian .. and he is gone so I am semi happy. Lacey and her partner are probably my favs. As for no prize money ... these people don't need it .. that mirror ball trophy is priceless (LOL) and they DID sign up for the chance to win it ... as for not getting paid ... those who appear, usually get some much needed recognition and even some lucrative offers ... but then others just go back to oblivion

Cloris wasn't horrible for me last night, but it seems the judges don't care if she dances, only if she entertains them .. so guess you were right FG ... she isn't there to win the dance comp, she is there for comdedic relief. Still liked Lacy and partner best ... judges still don't. For the most part I didn't agree with the judges at all last night. The football player was pretty awesome though. BUT how many times will we see the leather Paso .. . oh well
