Like always, Big Brother started off by catching us up: Dan and Memphis have a secret alliance. Renny nominated April and Jerry. April and Ollie are sooooo in luuurrrve. Michelle thought about flipping to Ollie and April, April offered Dan money, but at the end of last week, April walked out the door. We were left hanging at the end of Thursday’s epi waiting to see who would hang on a vine long enough to win HOH. First up, the results of the HOH competition. It was kind of brutal – they had to hang on a vine while being rained on and being whomped up against a wall. Ollie, of course, is in a precarious position. Michelle is “on his side” … kind of … but pretty much, he’s an easy target. To emphasize this, BB gives us another replay of April walking out the door, leaving Ollie on his own. One good thing is that Ollie admits that his game playing hasn’t been what it should be up to now – I could actually see April leaving as a good thing for him, because maybe he’ll join the game now. Back to the HOH competition, where we learn that the houseguests also have water balloons to throw at each other. That in no way made up for what a miserable competition this was, though. It was especially bad for the men, seeing how they were sitting with a rope slicing into their baby-makers. Jerry was the first to fall, and he had a hard time getting up and walking away. Shortly after, the boys were having some fun with the water balloons and Michelle ended up getting hit – she said in the eye, but really I think the water splashed in her eye – it wasn’t like a blow to the face or anything. She made a hella big deal out of – she’s kind of become a cry baby! Next to fall was Keesha after a hard hit to the wall, which disappointed Memphis (I don’t know why but he thought she’d perform better – based on what?) Soon after, it started to get dark, and you could just see how cold it was out there. Dan was definitely smart to put on a jacket with a hood. Michelle was off next when she caught her foot in the wall after she hit it. This left Dan, Memphis and Ollie. By this point, witty banter seems to have stopped and all the guys are looking pretty miserable. Memphis was the next one to drop, leaving Dan and Ollie to battle it out. Both of them feel like they’ll be at risk if they don’t win, so it’s a battle. It’s been 3 hours and 35 minutes, and Ollie is looking worse off than Dan just based on his clothing choice – he’s shivering like crazy. Dan says that he’s fighting for his girlfriend Monica and says that he won’t last if he can’t see a picture of her. They start talking game, and they each tell the other that they’re safe. Dan throws in that he won’t put Ollie up after the veto, too, but Ollie holds strong. At that point, Dan asks him if he wants anybody else protected, but Ollie says it’s just himself – this is pretty hurtful to Michelle, but definitely entertaining for Keesha. At the end, the deal is that Ollie can pick a nominee, protect two people, and if the veto’s used, pick the replacement. To Ollie, that means that he’s HOH – Dan just gets to pick one nominee. Keesha knew that Dan made some sort of deal but wasn’t sure what it was … Michelle’s name was mentioned by Ollie as being protected … and in the end Dan wins, knows that he made a bad deal, and is completely happy with how it worked out. In the storage room after the competition, Keesha and Memphis feel pretty safe and think that Jerry will go up. In the meantime, Ollie tells Michelle what the deal is – and of course she’s amazed that Dan made such huge promises. Over in the bedroom, Dan cops to Memphis that he made a stupid deal. The house is running around in circles because nobody else could hear what was said in the end, but the general consensus seems to be that Dan is stupid. Next up, Dan gets his HOH room, and his gifts include a t-shirt that says, “Taken.” Memphis scoffs at how whipped the boy is, but Dan pretty much immediately puts the shirt on. First, though, he opens up Monica’s letter and cries in a play to get sympathy from the house. Dude, he grosses me out right now – his cold and calculating side isn’t attractive, but neither is the one where he acts like a wimp. Later, though, after impressing Renny with his sensitive self, he pisses her off when he won’t answer her questions about his “love life.” Her question is, “how many women have you dated?” but Dan gets into the whole, “define dating” thing – too bad Jerry isn’t there to see what a womanizer he is – we could get ourselves some more fireworks! Ollie comes up to the HOH room and says that he assumes that Dan will put up Jerry and that “his nominee” will probably be Memphis. It’s a lovely moment when Memphis clues Dan in to the fact that not only is Ollie pulling the strings this week, he’ll be allowed to play for HOH next week. So, before nominations Dan decides that it would be a good idea to make sure that he has votes for Memphis to stay. He brings Keesha and Renny into the HOH to suggest an alliance between Dan, Keesha, Renny, and Memphis, but Renny of course doesn’t want to have to trust Memphis. In the end, she agrees to it, but it takes a lot from Keesha and Dan to make it happen, including promising Renny that Memphis is number four. To his credit, Memphis does not go quietly into being a “pawn” – no, he has a conversation with Dan in which it’s clear that Memphis is a man and Dan is not such a man but rather a word that I won’t use in this family-friendly recap. Here’s my rendition of that conversation: Memphis: looking a little menacing Dude, I’ve never heard of an alliance of two people where one person puts the other person up. Dan: sounding like a little girl But I promised Ollie. I made a deal. I gave him my word. Memphis: with disgust It’s like you’re not even the HOH. I spit on you and your false victory. At the beginning of the nomination ceremony Dan makes a big speech about how when you’re in the situation he was in, you do crazy things, and he made a deal, and he’s going to honor it. Memphis knows at that moment he’s going up and I think he might jump across the table and grab Dan by the throat. Sure enough, Dan nominates Jerry and Memphis. Then, Dan says that a lot of people don’t know where he’s coming from, Dan included, but that Dan might consider him a Renegade. Then he tells Jerry that it isn’t about the “Judas thing” but that the game is like football and that Jerry took a shot at Dan, Dan now took a shot at Jerry, but that Dan only got a first down and that Jerry still has a chance to make the touchdown. In the end, Jerry is feeling okay, Ollie is feeling like a king, Memphis is feeling pissed off, and I’m feeling like I don’t like Dan – he’s left a horrible taste in my mouth tonight … we’ll see, though – maybe his plan will work. Can’t wait for veto! |
