Brian is gone, but his influence is still felt in the house as they divide into those that liked him and those that didn’t. Jessie is currently HOH, but his “allies” were able to talk him out of nominating Renny and instead putting Steve and Dan up for eviction. Tonight, we’ll see who wins the veto and if they shake things up.

Dan gets straight to kissing Jessie’s butt and does everything he can to stress how strong of a player Steven is. Jessie seems to align with Dan, eating up every word out of his mouth and talking about how much he respects Dan for standing by Brian. Angie, meanwhile, is comforting Steven, who ends up being the one giving her a pep talk … right up until he lets Angie know that she’ll be out the door right after him and Dan.

In the living room, Michelle is giving Jessie a manicure while she tells him that she’s kind of disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be any showmance in the cards for her. He has a girlfriend, but he doesn’t exactly profess his love for her, so Michelle may have an opening.

The next alliance to be formed (I hope nobody’s expecting me to keep track of all of them!) is between Memphis, Jessie, Michelle, and Angie. Memphis leads the way on this one, and of course Angie is on board because she knows she needs to do anything to separate her from her friendship with Brian. It’s possible that Memphis just picked up three people that will follow him pretty blindly – most of the house is enamored with him anyway – we’ll see how it shakes out.

In a heartwarming moment, Renny and Steven talk about Hurricane Katrina and how it affected both of their lives. They bond. Now, back to the normal ugliness …

Keesha wants Steven to stay. She hopes that she will be able to play in the veto comp so that she can win and take him off the block. The comp apparently takes place pretty early because Jessie wakes most of them up and the group is looking pretty rough as they choose the players. Jessie draws Michelle, Dan gets to choose and picks Libra (he thinks that she’ll keep the nominations, he’ll beat Steven, and the house will be happy), and Steven gets his wish and draws Keesha. Jerry is named the host. Jerry says that he would make a good tv host if his voice would ever clear up. Does he have like a perpetual sore throat? I don’t get it.

Keesha lets the other girls know that she wants Steven to stay (apparently before the veto comp, which isn’t smart because now everybody’s going to be even more intent on her not winning it) and Michelle immediately tells her new alliance the news. Keesha seems to be alienating herself at every move.

Jerry starts off the veto competition, which Dan plans to throw to further establish himself as a weak player. The players have to take license plate phrases and use them to assemble certain words. For example, the first word, “eviction” is made by three license plates: eee, vick, and shun. The catch is that the players have to recite the states of the license plates that the phrases are listed on, which is apparently difficult. Dan goes out right away, then Jessie makes a mistake too. Keesha gets the first puzzle right, then Steven goes out on the next puzzle. Michelle wins that one, then the players find out that the next puzzle will give the winner a one-week slop pass. However, the person that gets the pass will be out of running for the veto. Libra and Keesha are both on week two of slop, so Michelle tells them they can fight it out. In fact, Michelle encourages both of them to take it by yelling out food that they could be eating. Nobody answered – Keesha stayed in to fight for Steven and Libra came in to fight Keesha fighting for Steven. This really sucks for Libra, because she is eliminated on the next puzzle. At the next puzzle, Keesha answers incorrectly, giving Michelle the win. Things don’t look good for Steven, and he knows that he has to start fighting. Dan is hoping that Steven will fight hard enough to piss people off.

Keesha’s ship is sinking and she doesn’t even seem to be realizing it. Steven tries to point out to her that she shouldn’t even talk to her, but she doesn’t seem to care. She does, however, talk to Renny about trying to get Libra out. Renny wisely enjoys somebody else having conflict while Keesha unwisely goes and makes a big announcement that she had no intention of changing the nominations and saying that people should stop talking about her. Then she goes and talks to Jessie and Memphis, telling them that Libra was spreading rumors about Keesha trying to save Steven. The words back door are thrown around and things seem to be swinging towards another surprise attack.

Keesha continues her campaign against Libra in a conversation with Renny, who pulls Jerry into the mix. It comes out that she made a comment about having the “older people” Renny and Jerry on her team for the last food comp and Jerry comes after her with venom. In fact, he goes straight to confront her and the stuff really hits the fan. Renny just stands back, drinking her coffee and enjoying what she’s done. I’m starting to think that Renny is smarter than I ever gave her credit for. Jerry, however, brings Renny into it and she tries to keep her cool but isn’t able to. Steven takes this opportunity to try to save himself, but Jessie tells him that it’s up to Michelle. Steven talks to Michelle, who isn’t really wanting to shake things up, but she pauses when he throws out the idea of taking Dan off the block and replacing him with Libra. In the end, though, Michelle chooses to leave the nominations as they are and avoid making any waves. The episode ends with Steven vowing to fight, Dan hoping that he’ll fight himself out of the house, Michelle commenting that she would have been stupid to use the veto and placing a target on herself and Keesha promising to help Steven fight to stay in the house. Has she learned nothing from the people that made friends with Brian? Who knows, though – I need a spreadsheet to keep up with who’s fighting and who’s aligning!
