What is your full name?Kourtni Josephine Lind
Do you have a nickname?Ha yes... My mom has called me Boopers basically since birth, and it now has its many translations: Boo Boo being the most used, Boo, Boobie, Booblea... Also, I've been called Kourt or Kourts forever, which then turned into Qts.
Where do you currently live?Minnesota
Where were you born?Minnesota
What is your hometown?Forest Lake, MN
How old are you?18
What is your birth date?11/09/1989
Are you in school? If so, which one and how long? Did you graduate?I'm not currently in school. I graduated high school (St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists) when I was 16 years old and also took a year's worth of college classes at the University of St. Thomas-St. Paul during my junior and senior years.
Are you married?Nope
Do you have any children?Nooooo
How old were you when you started dancing?3 years old
Do you have any formal dance training?Yes, I have been formally training for over 15 years in Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, and Tap and also have about 5-6 years of training in Musical Theatre, Pointe, and Hip Hop.
If you had to categorize your dance style, what would it be?Hmm... mainly Contemporary and Jazz/Technical but I try not to limit myself to one style
What other talents/hobbies do you have?I am very artistic in a lot of areas... I love to write poetry, sketch, paint, make clothes and jewelry. I love to sing and play my guitar though I'm really not so great at either of them

I really like to cook, my dad is an AMAZING chef- like, better than any restaurant you've been to, but he just does it as a hobby. So I try and learn from him whenever I'm back home, or I'll call him up when I'm grocery shopping and have him help me get the right things to make something delicious. Other than that I really just enjoy people. I like people watching and meeting new people and exploring this lovely world.
Who is your favorite professional dancer?Mia Michaels. And, no, I'm not trying to suck up

I just honestly have never admired anyone as a dancer/choreographer/inspiration they way I do her. She makes it okay for people to move in their own bodies and have their own spirit and that's exactly what dancing should be all about, and what I strive for every time I move. She's brilliant.
Does anyone in your family dance professionally?Nope. My mom planned to after high school but my older sister came along
Have you performed in musical theater or in public functions as a dancer?Yes, I've been in maybe 3-4 public and/or theatre shows since I've started my work as a dancer.
What would you like to see happen to you as a result of the show?My main goal coming into this whole huge adventure is to basically show myself to the world. Show what I can do, because I have so much faith in my possibilities. I truly believe they are limitless. I want to be challenged and push my boundaries in a way that I have never even had the opportunity to. I want to be exposed to new things, new people, new choreographers, new styles. I want to have movement that feels uncomfortable and unnatural to my body so I can continue my growth as an artist and discover what else I have in me. I want to come out of this still myself, but a molded and supplied and moved version of me. I think that this could open up so many doors for me in the dance world that I feel like I've been knocking on forever.
Where would you like to be in 10 years and what would you like to be doing?I would like to be working enough as a dancer/teacher/choreographer to completely support myself. I would like to be traveling, not necessarily living and settled in one spot. I want to be exploring worlds and lives that I know nothing about yet, and be sharing my passion with as many of them as possible.
What has been your most memorable dance experience?Oh that's kind of a tough one. This entire experience has BY FAR been the most memorable of my life. But, assuming you'd like to know of something outside of this... I'd have to say that I can't choose just one experience, more so a series of experiences. I grew up dancing alongside the same 5 girls, we had a small group and would do all the competitions and conventions and all that. I have more memories and experiences with those girls than I think I will ever have with any other friends in my life. We went through everything together- laughed together, cried together, grew together and created together. So that experience, as a whole, I know it's broad, but it really will always be one of, if not the most memorable time of my life.
What have you learned so far in going through the audition process for this show?I have learned to take things as they come, just one step at a time. To live in the moment and not to be fazed by what the person next to me is or isn't doing. I have learned to fight through my nerves and channel them as strength. To not lose hope when things don't seem to be going so great. To really learn from other dancers and their movement and take-in every tiny thing that I can.
What are your favorite dance moments from movies, TV and/or stage?Well, clearly there are hundreds of moments from SYTYCD past seasons that I could go on and on about... one of my favorite dances on the show being Cameron & Lacey's first dance last season to Elisa's "Dancing". Something about it just gives me crazy chills every time I watch it. But that's one of SOOO many dances that I would love to keep listing and listing from the show. As far as movies go, by far my favorite dancing in a movie that I've seen is in "The Company". I didn't particularly love the actual movie, but the dancing in it is INSANELY brilliant. I love "Singing in the Rain". We got quite a bit of influence from it when I was younger with some of our competition numbers, particularly the tap numbers. There were just such fun characters and fantastic dancing in that film to go off of. And stage... the few Cirque du Soleil shows that I have had the pleasure of going to are the most amazing shows artistically that I have yet to see live.
Which choreographers would you like to work with?EVERYONE and anyone. I want to learn from as many artists as possible and take something from each one of them with me. Obviously, I am extremely looking forward to the chance to work with Mia being as that's pretty much been one of my dreams and goals in my dancing career. But truly, I am so excited to be exposed to any and every choreographer that I get the opportunity to work with.
Thank you!!
