The finale is upon us and the two David's will go head to head. Will the stretch the show out to include all the dumb stuff we don't want to see or just get down to business and let the boys compete. I have been thinking and I believe it would be to David C's advantage not to win. Then he will not be under contract for the year to AI and can do what he wants music wise. It would be more of an opportunity for David A to take the title. I think he needs the win to advance his career at least for now. David C, would actually be hindered if he wins. What does everyone else think? Of does anyone even care anymore? |

He's still under contract with AI and he will probably get an offer of a contract, but he doesn't have to do the whole dog & pony show that the winners go through. Chris Daughtry is still whining about the AI mentions when he does interviews.

Predictions are that Cook will win. Interesting article in this weeks TV Guide with David A defending his dad. I'd not really heard the details of this 'stage dad' antics until the article. Another article says that Jason has said he 'really tried' the night he was booted ... however, those who heard him in rehearsal said he was awesome and that he deliberately blew the night so he could work on his own music and get back to his girlfriend. |

I read TV Guide every day (as most of you know). They actually had David A. in the "Jeers" section last week. THey were hoping he wouldn't make the finals because he's "one dimensional" and lacks personality. I have to agree. It's kind of like Melinda last year. It's only endearing for so long and then it gets tedious. |

looks like David A brought his A game tonight. he found some charisma and delivered the best he could. i prefer the style of David C, but agree with the judges tonight. i still can't believe someone would pretend to forget the words on national TV, so i'm skeptical about the word that he threw it. i'll buy that his heart wasn't in it anymore though. still hoping for david c but think it's archie. |

CONFESSIONS OF A CLOSET COOK FAN: When the season began I couldn't find any of these contestants that blew my socks off. I continued however from their joining the group till their departure to adore Michael Johns and Jason of the dreadlock fame. I was devastated when Michael was booted. But there was still Jason and truth be told I was beginning to develop a place in my heart for David Cook. He had turned me off in the beginning with his arrogant attitude and backtalk to Simon (yes I am one of those who love Simon too) BUT I as beginning to understand the appeal. I liked the fact Cook did his own thing and most of the time put his own twist on familiar favorites. I liked his creativity and the fact, along with Jason and David A seemed genuine and likable. With Michael gone, Jason, and the Davids became my top picks ... the ones I enjoyed watching the most. I know there has been a lot of speculation about Jason and whether he did or did not throw the competition. If you take the whole season into consideration and look back over previous performances I am leaning to the side of those who believe he wanted off the show. Perhaps it was because he knew he couldn't beat the two D's and wanted to save himself the humiliation and just go back to his family and friends with his head held high. I do believe Jason sabatoged his performance. I am not sure I believe he mouthed 'don't vote' when Ryan was giving out his numbers. Jason was too good to be so bad when it really counted. 'nough said, only he knows the truth and he isn't saying "yet" Come now to the two D's. As I have said before their styles are soooooo different it is hard to compare the two. It is hard to decide which of the two would have the most diverse fan base. If you like rock then David C is your man but if you love smooth mellow puppy dog eyes then it's David A. I have a maxed out sound system on my entertainment center and so I do believe I have heard both of these boys at their best and worst. They both appeal to me on a different level. Prior to last night I would have been content no matter which of the two walked away with the title. If anyone threw the competition this year I believe it was David Cook last night. His music was so forgettable and it didn't make sense with this being the make it or break it night. He had a zillion songs to choose from to make his anticipated comeback on the final song choice but he picked something he admitted himself he had never done before. Every number I kept expecting Cook to beef it up and put on a superstar performance ... he never did. He wasn't horrible, but he wasn't memorable either. On his last song I was sitting back with anticipation .... I just knew he was going to pull out all the stops and belt out the best performance he had ever done .... HE didn't do it!On the flipside we have the baby face, tween idol, David A. WOW WOW WOW!!! that is all I can say about what he delivered last night. I can't remember which judge said it, but David A approached the night determined to win. He brought his A game and knocked my socks off. I didn't want him to ... I really don't think we need another child star turned freak with stage parent and popping pills and .... well I didn't think David A was old enough or mature enough to handle what fame might bring his way. I wanted him to lose for his own protection not because he was horrible. I know through the season I have pumped David A and downed David C, but we all need a little disagreement on occasion to keep things interesting. Last night David A proved himself and David C left us wondering what in the world did he do ... where was his head and WHY did he choose the songs he chose To bring this to a close based ONLY on last night's performances, David A should walk away with the win. AND from what I saw I don't think David C will be that surprised if he loses nor do I think he will care. Like Jason, I think he has other plans and the less of American Idol he has in his life at this point the better for him. Don't forget to watch tonight to see who America has chosen .. did more tweens and mature adult women vote or did the teens and coveted college age to mid 30's group vote? |

The only thing I can say about last ngiht's performacnes was I hope like hell that neither one of those songs were the chosen winner for the finale'. Yeesh were they horrible. David C. definitely did a better job of trying to put a spin on pure sap and dribble. Good gravy! |

I concur with Simon. I really didn't care which David won. They were both great in their own genre. I loved the Old Time Rock and Roll commercials. Hope they continue. Congrats to Cook. HE sounded awesome tonight. And by the way .. Jason sounded back on track too. |

Agree. David A really did turn on the heat in the showdown and although I have been a Cook fan, I was ready to be pleased for him. Of course, also very pleased that the man whose performances I've enjoyed all year. Great talents, very kind people. I enjoyed this finale - some great guests and group performances. |

p.s. glad Jason could deliver a good performance and enjoy himself - and that Brooke didn't forget the words! |

This was the first time I've seen Brooke perform where she wasn't shaking. However, Jason was a nervous wreck during Hallelujah. He did a great job. The best man for the job won the title and now we can all relax and get ready to argue over SYTYCD. |
