Thanks SB, great recap. I was horrified when Matt was sent to the womens team. At least Christine will have nothing to worry about next week since the ladies will be gunning for Matt ... nothing like an intruder to bring peace to the gals. |

Thanks JB and Chairo. Maybe Mr. JB can calm down since he got to miss another of CR's foul-mouthed rampages! |

Last night was probably the most disastorous of the season. The screaming, throwing and swearing seemed to be at an all time high. I am NOT a Matt fan, but Ben has really been getting on my nerves, trying to manipulate things and acting like he is better than the rest. Well Matt wasn't there to be kicked around and blamed by the blue team and the still lost .... Ben even lost a one on one contest to Matt. Jen was on Ramsay's radar last night and sadly to say, she gave the women of this world a bad rap by pouting and not communicating after she got her butt chewed Bottom line, the women won the night and I joined in Matt's celebration when Ben walked out the door. |

When Petrozza put up Jen and Louross for elimination tonight, my mind ran over the disturbing pattern of events that made both of them likely candidates. Louross was incapable of preparing the Filet Mignons correctly for almost the entire service. I find this either ridiculously bad cooking skills or bad television. I am a bit tired of someone who seems competent in one area all of a sudden self-destructing the next week. Ramsay’s willingness to jump on those who have made mistakes is wearing a bit thin. His personal attacks are something no one would accept in a working environment. If he really wanted to help them, he would criticize constructively. Ramsay’s tantrums perhaps sell the show, but it doesn’t do anything except make people nervous. I think Ben was kicked because he didn’t let Ramsay get under his skin. To Ben's own detriment, he stopped concentrating on cooking and started playing manipulative politics. Because a chef is doing so many different tasks, even when at a single station, a chef learns how to tell when meat is done by feel. We have probably all seen the technique of comparing the fleshy parts of the hand between the thumb and forefinger to determine a steak’s doneness. The simple inability of not only Louross but also others such as Rosanne and Matt, makes me wonder where they found these chefs and what they were doing at the time. How can we have a show such as this where chefs are such inept dingalings at preparing things over and over and another show such as Top Chef where, with far more creativity, things like this don’t happen? Every mistake can’t be because Ramsay has such a nasty disposition. In my opinion a chef should always keep an instant-read thermometer in his pocket. Even a home chef should use one. A chef should use timers also. If you have to turn away from something that is on the stove for a minute, you lose sense of time, especially if you are trying to finish something else. If timers and thermometers are too basic for professional chefs, I have to point out that these are doing considerably worse on a whole without them. Jen is such a pain in the butt that I was almost sorry not to see her go. She certainly has a chip on her shoulder the size of New Jersey, but I have learned to accept the skills of those who have been line cooks. I suspect that this is because line cooks have to do fewer tasks repeatedly always achieving similar end results. Besides her nasty attitude, poor communication skills and her inability to accept criticism graciously, I can’t stand the fact that she bullies other people! Her suggestion for a dish of halibut wrapped in (was it zucchini?) was horrid and Ramsay told her so. The guys caved into her suggestions because they were tired of listening to her complain. Jen’s ultimate failure was that Jen also prepared the desserts tonight and the soufflés were uncooked! Matt is someone who appears to be on the edge of a nervous breakdown whenever he steps into a kitchen. How do you make a pappardelle pasta dish too salty each time? If he was sweating into it as Ramsay suggested, then that’s just unsanitary and gross. Pappardelle is just really wide fettuccine. Matt messed this up at least three times that I saw and probably more. He seems to hit the stops of Manic/Depressive disorder from week to week. On a positive note, Christina and Corey were working well together. Even Christina was surprised at that. It is clear that Christina’s talents are below that of Corey’s, probably for lack of experience; it will be interesting to see how this ends up, especially with Jen back with the women and Matt back with the guys. Anyone want to bet that Matt continues to fall apart and is the next casualty? Can anyone imagine Jen winning this with her attitude? I cringe to think that Bobby might actually win this one, but he has stayed out of harm’s way lately. I never forget that Petrozza was the one who prepared his signature dish of a Cornish hen inside a pumpkin surrounded by greasy potatoes. Bobby’s wasn’t so great either but maybe he will be the one who allows Ramsay to beat him into submission and says, “Thank you, chef!” the most convincingly. |

Last's show was interesting and it was nice we didn't have any body parts in the food. However I would almost prefer a body part than sweat. Watching Matt sweat and drip into the food is almost enough to keep me out of resaurants. Jen needs to go. She is not a team player and she can't work well with others. If she were to win this and head a restaurant the employee turn over would probably be extreme. She has a very bad attitude and I think Petroza had it right ... she FEELS she has more to teach than learn but actually has way more to LEARN before she can even think about teaching. Her menu was so BAD ... it was halibut wrapped in SQUASH and Zucchini. I am amazed to see how well Chrstine and Corey are working together. They hated each other in the beginning and now they are helping each other and getting along. My hope for final 3 are Christine, Bobby and Corey. I don't think Matt, Jen or even Petroza have what it takes. I am not sure I'd like to have Corey as a boss though. Bobby I think would hide from problems and doesn't want to be the bottom line .. buck stops here person. Christine I don't know if she is ready or not. She gets flustered too easily. We will probably see Bobby and Corey in the end. I know Ramsay seems to like Petroza but I am not sure ... he usually gives the ones who end up in the finals the hardest time. Ben needed to go, as did Roseann ... Matt and Jen should be next. If Jen ends up in final two .. well I just can't even think about that without being sick. Jen is a petty, self-centered, hard to work with bore. She criticizes everyone else but makes excuses for herself or puts the blame on others even when her fault ... like the challenge when she made such a stupid mistake leaving off the sauce and undercooking the fish. YUK! I think Ramsay's rampages are completely for TV. His British show is not so nasty but it's still there. I also think this is his way to find out who can stand up under pressure. If they can't take the screaming of one man, how will they deal with irrate customers and lazy employees. |

Last night's show was interesting. It was so interesting that I didn't bother to watch most of it it. Seriously, I would flip back to it occasionally, but I was watching a cool movie with Catherine Bell called Small Still Voices. Too bad she's a scientologist. I caught the part where each had to make a dish based on what was under the covered plate. I laughed when Bobby got the duck. Corey got the lobster and was going to make a soup. That sounded like a perfectl;y good waste of lobster, although I think that lobster bisque is a fantastic dish. it's just not very novel, is it? I forgot what Jen had but I think Petrozza had chicken. things got so interesting that I forgot to look back but when I did, I saw that Jen won. Wow! i didn't see that coming! Anyway I saw the end where psycho Matt was off his lithium again and moaning about how he wouldn't be eliminated. When I flipped back, I saw my two favorite scenes of the show thus far this season: Matt getting kicked out (with Petrozza wishing he wasn't in the same state) and finally a wonderfully gratuitous shot of a gorgeous brunette eating in the dining room displaying very impressive cleavage indeed. Still, I think Matt leaving was a bit better. I hope someone fills me in on what happened with the various dishes. I was laughing just thinking how Bobby would screw up his duck dish and hoping Petrozza would not reprise his cornish hen in a pumpkin fiasco. |
