I don't know if anyone else is watching or I'll end up having a nice conversation with myself, but this season looks somewhat interesting... I don't think I like the idea of theme nights in the top 24. What say you, other viewers?

I only got to see photos from the show last night. Great lookin' group of guys. I've read some reviews, but I'm waiting for them to put the video up.

I caught the last couple of nights and I think there are some real stand outs and some real duds. It will be intersting to see which four are out tonight.

Last year the girls were way better than the guys but this year I think with a couple of exceptions the guys have the best voices. That 17 year old kid (David?) blows me away. I love the Aussie guy and the two with the long hair ... one in some braid concoction and the other wore a bandana ....

The rocker nurse (though I didn't like her son last night) the girl who lost her dad (who's name I won't even try to spell) and the one who lost her voice during auditions are my fav girls ... Right you all understand exactly who I am talking about right? LOL I'lll learn the names when they are down to 12 ... promise.

Watched the elimination show last night and was not disappointed with any of those chosen to go home. Think America made the right choices. I liked the fact they weren't so drawn out this time.

What did everyone think of Paula's performance. I was stunned. I didn't realize she was so good. That was the best part of the evening.

Paula wasn't so good, the synthesizer was so good. She's as worthless a talent as Britney Spears. Left to her own devices she wouldn't sound so good. The woman can NOT sing!!

I was okay with the choices last night as well. I still think it's awful they make these contestants sing themselfs away. That poor girl that was first eliminated barely held her composure.

I'm not so bothered by them singing ... if they break down, they break down. I know I would. I am more bothered by the way Ryan often leads one person believe they will be eliminated and it's somebody else. That I think is cruel. He only did it once last night, so maybe he will stop ... but then that's been part of the show forever.

As for Paula, on this one we can agree to disagree. Most people sound better with 'help' than they do just singing on their own. Just like make up hides the flaws on our face, musical back up and echos and all the other stuff they use can make a voice sound better than it is. I really enjoyed Paula's performance myself.

I guess all of us have our own likes and dislikes as far as music is concerned. Which I suppose is why so many of our favorites get voted out so early in the competition. I liked the biker nurse in the auditions but thought her number Wed. was horrible. I thought at first I liked it because I didn't see any of it except the ending, but having heard the whole thing now, I really hated it. I think you can be a rocker without being a shouter.

Australian dude for the win! Agree with Chairo, the two long hair dudes and the really talented young one seem to have an edge already. Wonder who'll be the musical "helpers" this year...

I think there were two standout performances tonight and they were by the two David's. I was so impressed by these guys. Young David is absolutely awesome. It's hard to believe that voice comes from him.

The other David's version of Papa is a Rolling Stone took my breath away. Most of the others were so bland after these two performed.

It will be interesting to see how the girls do with the 70's music tonight

Agreed again. I think older David might be this year's Elliot. I also think Simon not liking him at first made me like him even more. That guy can sing and if he makes great song choices, he's gonna go far. Robbie might be in danger of going, with the arguing about his rock persona and his performance... all very weird.

The only performance I really liked was David Hernandez. The other David was okay. I think I'm more impressed by his age and maturity than his actual performance last night. I thought both rockers did really well last night. How many are going home this week? What the heck are some of these crooners thinking?

Also, I wish the judges would get off of this "somebody great sang it so nobody will ever be able to better it or duplicate it" crap. There have been several times throughout the Idol years that somebody has done a really amazing rendition of a "Whitney" or "Freddy Mercury" or even, gasp, an Elvis tune. :rolleyes

I have to say I kicked BB to the curb for Idol tonight. I hope the woman don't disappoint.

From what I heard last night it will be two from each side going home again tonight.

I actually agree FG...they make too big a deal over the original artists not being able to be covered. COME ON!! These kids are amatures. Nobody expects them to be what the originals were.

I didn't like Simon's comments when David sang Imagine that it 'surprised' him he did so well on a Lennon song.

The originals were great, but these guys have to pick some artist's song to sing so give them a break, or takes the old music wonders off the list of choices.

Anybody else shocked by last night's eliminations?

I was more surprised by who was moved on rather than who was eliminated. I didn't like Danny, he was just too out there, but I would have kept him over at least one of the others. I was totally surprised Asia (know this is not the right spelling) was voted out.

It seems like all the professionals made the team and the true amatuers were voted out with a few exceptions. This year seems to be a group of ringers. The Irish girl blew a previous multimillion dollar record deal ... why is she on here?

I think the concept of the show has been completely turned around.

I missed this week all toghter and I'll miss next week too unless we have the time while we're in Hawaii to see it. LOL I did get to see David A.'s screw-up because somebody posted it on-line. :laugh

Guess the dog and pony show doesn't work well unless he's had plenty of practice. He's a stage kid and I think his moments are O-V-E-R!!

It made me sad that David A. screwed up, mainly because he's been phenomenal in weeks past. But seriously, couldn't he have picked a better song? Goodness.

I don't think David H. necessarily deserved to get the boot, but I can understand why he did - his performance was a bit forgettable. However, there were definitely worse performances.

David H wasn't great this week but he has been very good in past weeks. He was definitely better than many who stayed. I never thought he'd win, but to be evicted before some of those others ... just pitiful

Amanda the rocker nurse was voted out last night. I sort of liked her. Was happy to hear the Irish lass came in the bottom three. She had her chance and shouldn't be on an amature contest.

I actually thought everyone did very well last night. David Archuletta or how ever you spell it was my favorite of the evening. I liked the Aussie whose name I can never remember and I adored Jason. The women didn't do much for me though I didn't think any of them were terrible.

Apparently, David Cook went to the ER last night with heart palpatations brought on by high blood pressure. He seems to be doing well now.

I thought the women out-sang the boys last night. Then again I am a lifetime member of the Dolly Parton fan club so I have a discerning ear. :giggle:

Syesha's version of I Will Always Love You was spot on and I also liked Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White, but agreed with the judges that it lacked the emotion the song needed.

Is it just me or does Jason Castro look like a muppet? He has one look. It's cute, but it's not going to win him this show.

The Davids and Michael all performed well. Michael was my favorite of the evening.

Based on fan-base and performance last night, my pick for bottom 3 are Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado and Ramiele Mulabay in bottom 3 with Ramiele going home.
