Opinionated Posts: 3,739 Group: Writer Member #317 Joined: August 14, 2005	I have to say I was pretty disappointed with ALL of the freestyle dances. I agreed almost totally with what the judges said about them. I expected a lot more, especially from Maks and Mel. Marie was not as bad as they said but the dance was not that great and it was just too cutesy .. and I LIKE Marie. I was impressed with some of their lifts however. Was I wrong, of did she fall at the end. I couldn't decide if it was deliberate or an accident. Helio was just okay for me. His repeat dance was as bad as the first time he did it. His free style was slightly better, but he really isn't that great at the footwork. I'd almost prefer Marie to beat him.' It should be Mel and Maks taking home the crown but we'll have to wait and see how America votes. Which leads to the question ... do the judges know the public vote prior to casing their last votes tonight? It would be easy to manipulate the outcome if they do.

Easin' into summertime... Posts: 3,514 Group: Writer Member #109 Joined: April 25, 2005	How could they possibly know and not only that but viewer perception does change from week to week. You never know which direction Jennie's voters were going to go last night. Overall, I think Helio did the best on both talent and entertainment levels for me last night. I was so freakin' disappointed at Maks and Mel last night. It's like they came up with both of their routines the night before. Pathetic, considering what we've seen from them this year. I know they are both incredibly busy but if they lose tonight they have nobody to blame but themselves. I too was disappointed in all the freestyles, however, I have to say that if anyone earned the top honor for their efforts last night it was Helio. I agreed with the judges. Maks and Mel are the best technically and Marie is the most entertaining, but Helio had just enough of both to eek out the best performances last night. What a disappointing finale' for a pretty terrific season.

The judges DO KNOW the results of the call in votes ... they know at least who loses. I read that they annouce the lowest vote getter in the beginning and then the final two dance and are scored by the judges. They may not know which of the final two got what in the votes, but THEIR votes will pretty much let us know who THEY want to win. I still think Mel should win over Helio for two reasons. First I want to see a woman win ... no that isn't a legitimate reason but ... Second, I think throughout the season Mel and performed better than any of the others. I do NOT think Helio has improved all that much. He just learned to move his feet around and I still think he moves them the same no matter what the dance. There have been two real surprises this year ... Helio beating Jennie and any of them beating Sabrina ... AT THAT POINT, in the competition. So I am prepared for anything tonight.

Posts: 3,514 Group: Writer Member #109 Joined: April 25, 2005	I'm okay with it because had Mel performed Monday night like she did last night, I could see an argument, but let's face it, Maks and Mel dropped the ball and let somebody else steal their spotlight in the Freestyle portion of the competition. Julianne was smart to keep it exciting and upbeat in the dance while throwing in some spectacular lifts. Maks put together some contemporary piece with one really good trick and expected THAT to carry him through. This is not his first dance so he should know better. On a separate note, I thought Mark and Kim did a spectacular job with their routine last night. Good for them. I was also glad to see Jane, Tony and Carrie Ann bury the hatchet and poke fun at the whole "lift" debacle that seemed to hinder Tony's common sense this season. Mad props to whom ever it is that finds our "stars" and matches them perfectly with the professionals.

There was a couple of weeks I questioned whether they cared or not. :rolleyes: I just read an article that Mark Ballas pulled a muscle in his shoulder and may not be able to do the road show with Sabrina. Do I think this couple went home too soon? Yes. Do I think they deserve the whole "media blitz" since? No. Jeeze, get over it already.
