So it was bye-bye Ashley today... I was disappointed, cause I really wanted Dave to go...

Leslie doesn't seem like the brightest bulb in the box to be going to Todd... he's really got it made, everyone sees him as a good person to have on their side, so they're all making an alliance with him, it's quite hysterical actually, almost reminiscent of Dr. Will.

I was hoping for Dave to go, too, but he will probably end up shooting himself in the foot, really, really soon. His leadership style will more than likely quickly pi$$ off more than a few of his fellow tribe members.

I was a little disappointed by Ashley's being voted out, but she definitely was beginning to show streaks of the same "petulance" Chicken exhibited last week. She most definitely did not like being a follower; it just happened to be Dave and IMO it wouldn't have mattered who she was having to "take orders" from. Although Dave's tone of voice could probably have been a little less demanding, Ashley could have exhibited a little bit more of a "cooperative" spirit.

Looks like J-R called it right last week when he called Todd "shifty." I suppose it is merely a case of semantics, but I find "shifty" a little harsh. I would probably be more likely to consider him "cleverly manipulative" with a little bit of "deviousness" thrown in.

What is Leslie going to do if she finds the "IDOL"? She wouldn't participate in the Welcoming Ceremony because of her feelings about other idols. Will she forsake her intractable attitude and "bow" to the "idol" to use whatever power the "idol" gives her? In her interpretation of her spirituality, is figuratively bowing different than actually bowing?

Did anyone else notice how the "shy" James was very quickly the individual who put his hand on Todd's shoulder and indicated Todd should be the one to sit out the reward challenge? Aaron was supposedly the team leader, but James jumped right in. Unless the tribe had decided before hand and the editing is what made it appear as though James decided to grab the reins, he may prove to not be the wallflower he wants everyone to think he is.

Previews make it look like next week could prove to be very interesting. :smug

She's not to be worshipping idols. That's different than using what is called an idol. They were clearly in a buddhist temple bowing down to an idol. They said it wasn't "worship"... it was in a place of worship. Also keep in mind, her job is as a christian talk show host... having her bow down to an idol is not a good career move, which I'm sure she was thinking (and not saying)

As far as the "immunity idol" it's become a part of the game, that the name doesn't really hold any significance.

Thanx for the lesson. The comment was made "toungue-in-cheek." I'll be a little more careful in the future. :laugh

I don't see any reason to be a little more careful in the future, your post was fine...

I was referring to being "more careful" in respect to attempting to be a little more obvious when I am intending to be "cute" or "clever."

This is not the first time you, in particular, have taken me to task for making a statement which you seemed to find lacking in it's understanding and finer points of an issue.

It kinda lessens my enjoyment in participating in these posts so, in an effort to recoup that enjoyment, I am going to try being less subtle in my comments which are meant to be "clever." ;)

:giggle: ROTFL

QR... you'll have to watch dflem. He'll also get you on spelling too. :giggle: I'm still cracking up.

I liked your thoughts on Leslie and using the "immunity idol." I got it. ;)

I wanted Dave to go over Ashley. She wasn't my favorite, but at least she didn't fall out during the immunity challenge. Dave has a condescending way of talking to ppl. Not a good trait for a "leader."

OMG, not my spelling?!!??!? Actually, I am pretty much a stickler about spelling, myself. Unfortunately, when I proofread what I wrote, my eyes see what my brain knows I was trying to write; miss quite a few typos. I don't get too upset when I see typos, especially if it's obviously just a transposition of letters (or dropped letters). I understand a lot of posters are in a rush because they have other things to do in their lives besides posting on mb's. Oh, well, in a perfect world . . .yada, yada, yada. :(

I think we all need to realize we're watching a lot of editing. When the black woman (I cannot remember her name, but she made a lot of good points) voted for Ashley, I think it was very telling. Her tears were also. I also believe that Ashley's proficy of Dave following her is good. ;)

You're right, fg. The woman's name is Sherea. I missed the votes at the very end. With the looks at (and comments to) Dave, I figured she had voted for Dave. I'm shocked she voted for Ashley. On a different thread (probably Sherea's) I mentioned the fact that I hoped Sherea doesn't give her 4th graders the same type of looks she was giving Dave, because if she does she'll scare the living cr** out of them. That girl had some FIERCE looks for Dave.

He deserved every one of them. I gave her credit for standing next to her friend who was on the firing line, but I lost cred for her when she voted for Ashley and then cried over it. I hope she does some damage control next week, because she's dropped plenty in my my estimate this week!

Oh, no doubt he deserved them. I was merely pointing out how SCARY they were. Glad I'll never see one in person. Guess my shock at her voting for Ashley after giving Dave "the look" (and making some pretty pointed remarks to Dave) pretty much translates into a loss of cred for me, too.

QR - at the end, they showed that everyone but Ashley voted for Ashley.

The previews for next week eluded to Dave losing his mind a little bit... should be interesting to see. It looks like his tribe is a time bomb wait to explode...

I think QR got that cheermama. I hope that somebody recognizes that HE is the reason they are losing. What good is his strength if he's sapping it with all his over-achieving.

James literally pulled his team to victory in the challenge and yet whenever anyone talks about an alliance he is never mentioned.

I am among the group that thinks Leslie made a huge blunder telling anyone else about the idol. However, if she doesn't find it, the person who gets the next clue might and then she is left with nothing.

I was sorry to see Ashley go. Dave should have been booted but people on this show always make the wrong choices.

On the other team if they don't get rid of the gambler ASAP they will have made the worst mistake ever (short of letting Richard Hatch slide through and win)

I like the location and for the most part I like the teams, but some how the excitment of the original show has been missing for quite awhile. ONly person on this years show I even care to see win is James.

Leslie better hope her trust in Todd doesn't bite her in the rear-end if Todd finds the idol. He has no intention of sharing it with her - in fact, sounds like he is hoping she leaves so he will be the only one who knows about the idol.

BTW, did I misunderstand (either during the premiere episode or on one of the two preview shows), or is there possibly more than one idol in each camp?

Last year there was one in each camp. After the one found was used they hid it again. Don't know if that is what they will do this year or not

Nobody wants to stick out at this point of the game. Every one wants to appear as a "team player". They are all at a stage where they are jockying for position within their separate tribes. I think Todd and Amanda are fools latching on to somebody this early. If I'm not mistaken Todd now has an alliance with JR, Leslie, Amanda and Aaron. Not too bright if you ask me.

Yes, there are idols on both islands and there is no exile island. I'm not sure what good this kidnapping can do for the tribe that is doing the kidnapping. However, the logic Todd told us in them picking Courtney was laughable. Are they not watching the other tribe during challenges? Good gravy people wake UP!

I think James' is being used for his strength as of now, however, it's been proven in the past to come back and haunt some teams who keep the big strong guy. However, I think James is a silent but deadly player. A man of few words, but oh so beautiful.
