Born in Long Island, N.Y., Jean-Robert Bellande considers himself international as he is the son of French-speaking Haitian immigrants that raised him in Asia. Bellande is a professional poker player (his televised tournaments include the 2005 Rio Circuit Event, 2005 U.S. Poker Championship, Ballbreakers 2005 and the 2005 World Poker Tournament's "Bad Boys of Poker"). In 2005, he was ranked as high as the Number 6 Card Player in the world.

Bellande first made a name for himself promoting some of Los Angeles' hottest nightclubs including the Roxbury, Tatou of Beverly Hills and the Gate. He then opened up his own Hollywood night spot, Sky Sushi, which he ran for five years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Azusa Pacific University. He describes himself as charismatic, fun and loud. He is most proud of making it to the final table at the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Event where he pocketed a whopping $210,000, and has now pocketed over $700,000 in tournament winnings. Bellande's hobbies are playing poker, playing pool and hitting the nightclubs. His favorite sport is soccer. He enjoys playing tennis and basketball. If he could take three non-survival items with him to location, he'd bring a deck of cards, poker chips and a dealer!

Bellande currently resides in Las Vegas. His birth date is Sept. 17, 1970.

Hope he is more adept at reading cards than he is reading people. Thought I was going to choke w/laughter when he accused Todd of being shifty, after Todd had been totally honest in telling J-R he (Todd) was a flight attendant. :shifty

I think he's right on about Todd being shifty... he may be a flight attendant, but he could still be shifty...

Sure, it's possible Todd is shifty. I just thought it was curious that J-R thought someone who was being totally honest (at least at that particular moment) was shifty. I would be willing to wager that J-R, because of his poker playing (and his eyes, to a certain extent) was projecting his own shiftiness onto Todd. It may end up being the battle of the "shifties." :huh

Well I've not been impressed by JR yet. Yeah, I know the season is young, but he doesn't even have a decent snore.

You're right. And, the word "decent" didn't even come close to entering my mind when I was trying to figure out how to describe his snore. Not even "doesn't . . . decent snore" made an appearance in my thoughts because it was SOOOOOO "not decent." I would imagine with his snoring and his perceived laziness he will not do a whole lot better than "bossy" Dave.

Only because he's on the stronger team. He's an idiot and clearly did NOT take advantage of the video before playing. Bad boys haven't faired so well on Survivor since Hatch...

BTW, fg, love your signature. Not only is the job left to others, but there are plenty of US out here more than willing to do the job and do it well. :yay:

I like his strategy "I am going to be so lazy, and so useless they will want to keep me in case I decide to be strong" If they lose that challenge he would have been gone.

I thought the same thing epheks. He's going to strategize himself out of the game. They are all complaining about how lazy he is. I am not sure it is a strategy, personally I think he's just lazy

He claims it is strategy, but I couldn't follow his logic. I think like you, epheks and chairo, he's running a huge risk of his tribe members getting tired of his "strategy" and voting him out before he gets to make use of it.

Not if he continues to help his team in the challenges with all the energy he's been conserving, while Dave goes the opposite route and brings down his tribe... it's an interesting strategy, that may just work if he pulls it off the right way...

Def. an interesting strategy. he seeks to show 'improvement' by starting out lazy and getting stronger as time goes by - which in theory is good as others will weaken out there. It's kind of like 'always dress up on fridays because others dress down so you look that much better' which is what i was taught for job performance (it works BTW).

I think he has an okay chance as long as he doesn't get obnoxious and shows 'he's trying'

Were stuck, so what could they do?
Let us fly said the flea
Let us flea said the fly
So they flew through a flaw in the flue

The best strategy would be the opposite. Start off strong to show that you can help your tribe, then when it comes down to individual immunity show you are weaking so you aren't voted out as a threat. He will start to prove he is strong closer to the merge and be voted out for that.
