Let me explain this week's title. I'm a single mom with two kids. I have a lot of friends in the same predicament. We were talking on the train one day and I realized I had the house to myself for a night and I declared that I could get naked and eat pizza if I wanted to. We shortened it to "Naked Pizza Night". So any moms or dads out there who find yourself with this luxury, be sure to indulge! We're back! Episode 2 and we're down to 9 couples. Tonight we start wtih the lovely Cat Deeley wearing a beautiful white halter dress that's trimmed in beads and sparkleys and has a beautiful red flower in the middle of the bodice. She didn't disappoint with her wardrobe choice this week. We get to see the returning dancers do a bit of their thing to the opening credits. The one thing that stood out was Pasha, a noted ballroom dancer, incorporated some hip-hop movement into his 5 seconds of show-off dancing. Now we get to meet the networks SYTYCD judges. This week it's Nygel, Mary and Mia Michaels. The greet us by shaming us for putting three of the most talented dancers in the bottom three. Nygle shakes his finger at us for boo-ing their eliminations from last week. We at ART don't care, because we have our own opinions and we, as Americans (and a few Canadians ) mostly feel that the correct two went home. Funnygirl disagrees, but nobody is listening to her this year. This week's ART Judges are the same as last week. Before the show begins, I would like to invite any of you that would like to guest judge on our esteemed panel to let me know via PM if you would be interested in guest judging in the coming weeks. Now on to this week's performances!! Lauren & Neil start off the night. They are dancing Hip-Hop. Dave Scott choreographed their dance and the song they are dancing to is The Way I Are by Timbaland and Keri Hilson Funnygirl: You guys were definitely better this week. Neil you completed embraced the style and I bought it. Lauren you were a little held back, but a great effort by both of you. Chairo: Laura I think you made a great effort but something was missing. I know this is way out of your comfort zone but this competition is for the best all around dancer. Neal, I think you really rocked. You proved a contemporary dancer can nail the Hip Hop. I am happy to say that the chemistry between the two of you is getting better. Next up is Jessie & Pasha. They will be dancing a Tyce DiOrio Jazz routine. Music is Stiff Jazz by DZihan. Funnygirl: It was okay. You were better last week, but it was a solid performance. Chairo: Last week the two of you were among my favorites. This week not so much. I didn’t like the choreography and I didn’t like the music. I am sure you both did the best that you could but this dance did not hold my attention. I fear you might fall into the bottom three Our third couple is Jamie & Hoc. They drew Samba this week and Jean-Marc Genereux choreographed this number to the music Bang Bang to the Rock & Roll by Gabin. Funnygirl: You had a couple of really great moments. It wasn't as techically seamless as it coule be. I would love to see Jullianne and Apolo do this dance and give it the justice it deserves. Hoc you surprised me. Chairo: Hok this week you proved that you can excel at more than just Hip Hop. You were totally believable. It amazes me knowing that dancing with a partner is new to you. Jamie, you blew me away also. The chemistry between the two of you is magical. For the second week in a row, our fourth couple is Sabra & Dominic. They chose Contemporary and Mandy Moore (not that one) choreographed this dance. Music is I'll Stand By You by the Pretenders. Funnygirl: Wow! That was awesome. The music, the choreography, the costumes...all amazing. Two enthusiastic thumbs up! You had a couple of hiccups, but I forgive you because you gave us a wonderful performance. Dominic I wanted you gone last week, but I'm glad you worked it for me to prove you deserved to be here. I think Ricki would have performed it better, but whatever. *sigh* Chairo: It is hard for me to believe the two of you have had so much less training than the other dances. Last week I was sure you were going to be leaving but this week you set the bar high for all the others. Sabra you were so graceful and elegant in your movements. Dominic, you were outstanding. Bravo to both of you. Next on the dance floor is Fiana and Cedric. These two kids will be performing a Fox Trot choreographed by Hunter Johnson. Music: You're the Boss Elvis Presley and Ann Margaret Funnygirl: That sucked. Neither of you embraced this dance, the song, your costumes, the lighting, the audience...nothing. Fiana, I thought you should have went home last week because you are clearly only in this for yourself and damn your sorry partner. You could have totally taken this to a different level had you found your characters and went with it. You let us all down. Chairo: I really have nothing much to say except that this may be your last week with us. This was not an enjoyable performance. Lacey and Kameron hit the floor next and they are doing a Broadway number this week choreographed by Tyce DiOrio and they will dance to the Chicago soundrack version of All That Jazz Funnygirl: Yeah, um okay. You two were my favorite couple last week and Lacey you totally let me down. You could have put some of your wonderful personality into it, instead you decided to let Kameron dance circles around you tonight. What a let down for me. Chairo: Lacy you have some big shoes to fill and tonight I think you fell short. The two of you have great chemistry but that won’t make up for what is lacking in your moves. Cameron, I thought you did very well. You were a joy to watch. Our 7th couple to dance tonight is Anya & Danny. They have chosen the Viennese Waltz and will get the honor of doing a Hunter Johnson choreographed piece to the tune of You and Me by Lighthouse. Funnygirl: Amazing. This is the second week in a row that I've been inspired by a ballroom piece. Your partnership is amazing and you were both technically beautiful to watch. Superb!! Chairo: The two of you were breathtaking. Anya, your grace and charm were awesome. Danny I’d choose you as my partner any day of the week. Excellent. Shauna and Jimmy are up next. They are doing hip-hop, but choreographer Dave Scott is adding some stepping to it. The music is U Sexy Girl by Fat Man Scoop Funnygirl: This was fun. I loved the routine. Jimmy you are a bundle of energy on the dance floor and clearly love to perform. Shauna, you are falling short for me. If you were dancing solo, you would have done a great job, but next to Jimmy you are just okay. Chairo: Shauna I was impressed with the way you danced tonight. Jimmy I couldn’t take my eyes off of you. You two made this seem so effortless. Great job. Finally, Sarah & Jimmy will give us the final performance of the evening. They are doing a Paso Doble' that is choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux and the music is We Will Rock You by Queen. Funnygirl: Um, um...it wasn't what I expected. I'm not sure whether it's the routine or the music I didn't like. Individually, I would say that Jimmy, you did your thing and you were very close to the classic Paso style. Sarah, I know you're a B-girl, but damn on your next shopping trip buy yourself a bit of feminine. Nice try. Chairo: Wow, awesome, tremendous. Loved it loved it loved it. Bravo to both of you. Jesus your matador was one of the best I had ever seen. Sara your trust in your partner was unbelievable. I was completely captivated by this dance. My one criticism was the horrid music but you over came it like pros. That's our take on tonight's show. Any predictions? Top Picks: Funnygirl: Anya & Danny and Sabra & Dominic To Go Home: Funnygirl: Bottom 2 for me was Faina & Cedric and Sarah & Jessie. Going home Faina & Cedric Chairo: Cedric and Jessi All in all a very good show and these contestants are making it hard for us. |
