Well hello there everyone, it’s time for everyone’s favorite reality show about movies… On the Lot! I hope you all have your popcorn today, because we have a great lineup in our final group of five. The three winners of the box office from the first week (Zack, Will, and Jason) are all competing this week, as well as Mateen and Jessica. We also get to find out if Marty or Kenny will get the boot tonight! Are you as excited as I am? Alright, then… let’s find out what was said in the house following last weeks episode!

Of course, we all expected that Marty would have a massive whine session over Carrie’s criticism last week, and he tells us that he was proud of the fact that he stood up for himself. Mateen thinks that Marty may have a problem after his war of words with Carrie on last week’s show. Marty says that he was disappointed that David didn’t stand up for himself, and he thinks that David may be the one in trouble.

Now, it’s time to cut to Adrianna, who is with the five filmmakers. This week, they’re not drawing it out like last week. She tells Marty right away that he’s gone… punishment for talking back to the judges? Or just people sick of seeing him? Or was it just so blatantly obvious that he was leaving, that there was no point drawing it out? I’m not sure.

Marty has an awkward interview with Adrianna here, followed by Carrie telling him that he is a good craftsmand but that if he has trouble with “mean old Carrie”, he’ll have a lot of trouble with Hollywood.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, it’s time to introduce our next guest judge director of the movies Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Hills Have Eyes, Wes Craven. Adrianna also mentions offhandedly that the contestants will be doing horror films in the next few weeks.

Will Bigham is up first “Glass Eye” about a guy who loses his glass eye only to realize that he has a new view on life. It turns out that with his glass eye, he is actually able to see, so he sees the glass eye rolling down the stairs, from the glass eye’s point of view. It was very interesting, and another silent movie type of film for Will. I thought it was decent, did the judges agree?
Carrie – If my dog ever pooped my eye out, I wouldn’t be waiting around to put it back in. I love the spirit that comes through. Again, they’re like little silent films, but talkies have come in, I don’t know if you’ve heard. Maybe next time there could be a little dialogue in your film.
Wes – Really fun concept, very original, purely cinematic.
Garry – You got a good eye for filmmaking, your dog was great, your wife sang Rigoletto. My only question was the lead character had a wife beater on, and we were supposed to be sympathetic to him.
My Rating:

Jason Epperson – Claims that he wants to make positive films, as he is sick of the sex and violence in films today. In his movie “Blood Born”, a drug user finds out from his doctor that he has special healing powers in his blood, and then in the end he’s on the wrong end of a gun in a drive-by shooting. Interesting concept, I would have loved to have seen it in a longer form.
Carrie – I liked your film, I was a little confused with it… you said you don’t like sex and violence, but you use a drive by and drugs
Wes – I thought the same thing. I thought you were trying to tell a moral tale, but I didn’t quite get it
Garry – EB White once wrote that you should be obscure clearly. In part of this you were being very subtle. Uplifting would better, but you’re a good filmmaker.
My Rating:

Zach Lipovsky, one of the frontrunners on the show is up next with “Sunshine Girl”, about a girl who’s scared of the dark. He says that he wants to show that he doesn’t just do special effects. I have to say first off, that I really like this guy. I think he is very talented, and I admit to a small amount of bias. I thought that this film was really good, but I just didn’t get the fact that she was afraid of the dark. It involved a girl actually taking the sun out of the sky to see underneath her bed… or something.
Carrie – It was a simple story, told simply… it was a really nice story…. I could have done without the music. Other than that, it was really nice… a great success
Wes – I think you’re a real filmmaker, I was a little confused that she was afraid of the dark.
Garry – I didn’t quite get that she was afraid of the dark. All in all, it was a charming story. The music was a little sappy, but what do I know? I did Beaches.
My Rating:

Mateen Kemet is our next filmmaker, and he claims that his style is real people. His film is called “Lost” about the most important thing you can lose: love. He feels all five of the filmmakers on the show today are strong in their own different ways. I personally felt like this film was pointless. It was about a man who met an old flame, and was surprised that she had gotten married in the last year since he left her (or vice versa.. I’m not sure). I figure it’s been done, and I don’t care that much for the characters.
Carrie – You can write dialogue, you can create characters, you’re good at what you do. I wish more happened. It needed a third act. I do think you’re very talented, a little like a soap opera, but I love your work and hope you do something with a third act next time
Wes – I really liked it you did a good job with the actors. I wasn’t clear what she was doing calling him. Overall I really liked it
Garry – I got it, it was the girl’s point of view. You shot it a little tight, if you back it up they give you a million dollars to shoot a movie, if you shoot it tight, they give you thirty-five dollars to make a soap opera.
My Rating:

Finally, it’s time for Jessica Brillheart whose film “The Orchard”, or as I like to call it, "Saw IV", is a horror film from a tree’s perspective. This is almost laughable. There was something about her that I really liked, although I felt like her last film was really bad, I felt like there was talent in there somewhere. If it’s there, it’s well-covered. Her film this week was absolutely dreadful.
Carrie – That was my least favorite thing next to being left by a man for a man. The only thing scary for me was that it could have gone on longer. Nice try anyway
Wes – I think that this film will work for audiences of poplars and maples, but for people.
Garry – The tree had to fight back! To make it scarier for the audience, there has to be something scary for the audience.
My Rating:

Judges Favorites
Carrie – Zach
Wes – Zach
Garry – Zach
Me – Will

My Least Favorite:
Jessica Brillheart
