Before I begin, I need to premis this by saying we originally had three judges for this evenings show, but because of unforseen circumstances we are down to two. So I invite you all to sit on this week's panel with us and let us know what your take was on the performances. It's finally here. A brand new season, Season 3 that is, of So You Think You Can Dance. I have to say we are in for a treat tonight. The top 20 new dancers are getting ready to take the stage for the first time this season. We'll get to see who the partners are and how they came to the SYTYCD stage. We'll also get to witness some of their training and personalities while they prepare to entertain us!The show starts with the lovely and charming Cat Deeley who is sporting a sparkley, shapeless mini dress and a beautiful smile. She introduces the top 20 to us and they get to show off some signature moves. Then we get to see some outstanding moments of the try-outs from each of our outstanding hopefuls. Now that all that is out of the way, let's meet our jidges. Oh no, not those jidges, but our very own ART judges:First up is Funnygirl. Funnygirl is a single mother of two and has several seasons of dance shows to help in her ability. She's also proficient in line dancing and wowing people at wedding parties with her fabulous rendition of the chicken dance. ![]() Finally, one of our newest jidges is Chairo. Not much of a dancer and an older member of the judging panel Chairo brings to us a knowledge of being one of the first rebellious teenagers to do the Charleston. I'm just kidding. Chairo is known to pull no punches when it comes to judging dance and is not afraid to do it live for us this season.Jamie & Hoc Our first pair to dance and they will be sharing with us a Shane Sparks Hip Hop routine. We expect Hoc to do well, but what will contemporary dancer bring to the table? Funnygirl: Hoc you did your thing and I was amazed by some of your tricks. Jamie, you carried your own and definitely committed to the style. Not bad. Chairo: I didn’t think Jamie was at top form on this dance. Being a contemporary dancer I realize you were out of your element but you had one of the best hip hop dancers to work with. Hok blew me away with his talent. I loved watching you so much that Jamie just slid into the background form me. Anya & Danny Anya is Pasha's ballroom partner and Danny is Travis' (2nd place finisher last season) adopted brother who is from the ballet world. How will they handle the Samba? Funnygirl: They were good. You could definitely tell that Danny has a background in ballet because of his pointed toes and leg positions. Anya made it come together and work for this pair. Very nice! Chairo: I loved watching them dance. They were fun and captured the routine very well and looked as if they enjoyed to it. Danny you impressed me a lot since this is not his type of dance of choice. You complimented each other very well. Kameron & Lacy Kameron is the red dye in the hair guy who does contemporary and Lacy is Benji's little sister. She does ballroom and Latin dancing and she also notes she's a professional krumper They take on a Mia Michaels Lyrical piece.Funnygirl: I'm not a big fan of lyrical or Mia Michaels, but this got my attention. It wasn't as wow for me as Travis and Hiedi's lyrical from last season, but Lacey you got my attention girl. Kameron you weren't as in it as Lacey and you're going to have to work to keep up with that personality and passion dude. Chairo: WOW!!! I loved watching them. It was exciting, sensual and oozed chemistry. This is one of the better couple matchups. When Lacy commented on the fact it was like ‘doing the dirty on the dance floor’ I agree 100%. You almost wanted to say ‘get a room’ but in a good way. Sabra & Dominic I have no idea who these two are. I think Dominic is the one that after choosing him for the Top 20 they thought he was too cocky for this competition. They are going to perform a disco number (groan). Funnygirl: Is it over? This was BORING! Sabra you tried to go there but the only thing that stuck out for me with Dominic was his butt in those pants. Sub par you two. I'm thinking you need to spend the evening practicing a solo.Chairo: Dominic seemed a little tentative to me, but having not danced with a partner before I think you did pretty good. Sabra was perfectly awesome and made Dominic look better than he would have been solo. Ashlee & Ricky Ricky is the oddball from Vegas week who Mia Michaels fell in love with and apparently Ashlee is her favorite female. Let's see how they do with the Tango. Funnygirl: Separately, you two are phenomenal. Together, wah-wah-wah. There's no chemistry here at all. The pairing is atrocious and whoever put you two together should be fired immediately! Chairo: The first problem with this dance is that this was a bad pairing. Ashley is too tall to dance hot sexy dances with Ricky. I agreed with the other judges about there being no chemistry between these two. I did not enjoy watching them dance together. Sarah & Chuy (Jose'): These two adorable kids will have the honor of doing a Wade Robeson Jazz/Pop number. Funnygirl: Fun! I really enjoyed it. I have to say though, that my eyes never left Sarah. Chuy was kind of a background dancer for me. Chairo: I didn’t like this dance. It was too unusual for my taste, however I think the two dancers performed it very well though they did get out of step on occasion. Other than that I can find no fault with anything they did. Jessie & Pasha Jessie is the baby oil girl from early auditions and Pasha is Anya's partner in ballroom. They get to attack the Smooth Waltz that was choreogrpahed by Tony Meredith. Funnygirl: Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. What a lovely couple and a wonderfully executed routine. You make me want to watch Cinderella when I get home. Chairo: The dance was a fairy tale. I loved everything about it and thought their chemistry was awesome. I felt they were in love as they told their story in dance. You were sophisticated and elegant and I can’t wait to see what you do next. This is one of the best pairing of couples in the competition. Faina & Cedric Faina is Stanislov's sister. Stansilov was on last year's show and was kicked off the first week. I don't remember seeing Cedric, but he's got a friendly face. They will try a Shane Spark's hip-hop routine. This should be a cake-walk for Cedric, but let's see how Faina fares with a week's worth of rehearsal. Funnygirl: Cedric, you were absolutely amazing. This is definitely your element. Faina, are you hungry? All I could think when I watched you dance is you need a Big Mac meal supersized. Hip hop is definitely not your forte'. Chairo: I loved Cedric and barely noticed Faina. Being a ballroom dancer she was out of her comfort zone but this is a competition for best all around dancer and as with Hok and Jamie she had a great dance partner for this type of dance. Lauren & Neil I barely remember her and I have no idea who he is. He's cute so we'll give him a chance. They are dancing a Alex DiSilva Salsa. Funnygirl: Um, Neil, dude what the heck was that? You were going through the motions but you looked like you took direction from Squish doing the potty dance! Lauren, you were okay. The dance itself was adequate, but not entertaining at all. Chairo: In this case I disagree with the other judges. I found the dance entertaining and the chemistry was there between you, but would like to see it grow as the competition progresses. Shawna & Jimmy She's the firey blonde with loads of energy and he's a lyrical dancer with a lot of charisma. They will end off the show with a Tyce DiOrio Broadway number. Funnygirl: GREAT FUN! This was one of my favorites for the evening. The two of you look great together. Chairo: I loved everything about this one, from the routine to the dancers. Your chemistry was great and they entertained me and made me want to see more. This is a wonderfully matched up couple. There you have it. The ART jidges have spoken. Who will leave us tomorrow? Tune in to find out. Before we leave, any predictions from the jidges? Funnygirl: Bottom 2 for me was Sabra & Dominic and Lauren & Neil with Lauren and Neil leaving. Chairo: At this point I think Ashley and Ricky should be the bottom three along with Jamie and Hok and Cedric and Faina. The ones who should go home are Ricky and Jamie. |

As with everyone else I too was amazed at how good these dancers are. I think the weak links will be revealed as they do more dances they are not familiar with. It was really hard to find fault with any of them last night. It was mainly chemistry or lack of relating to partner that I found fault with. I missed being able to 'boo' someone. LOL Lets hope someone will step up and be the bad guy so our sense of supriority can assert itself. |

Thanks, girls. I actually missed being a judge, but you all rocked on your evals. Hopefully next week will be a better one for me and i can guest judge. I did notice that Cat has changed her pronunciation and is using her "U" more often so we really do have judges and not jidges this season. I also noted that they did away with the phrase "dance for your life". Any ideas why? Nigel slipped it in one time, but Cat's phrase was "dance for the chance to stay in the competition" and she used that repeatedly. Wonder if there was some sort of copyright issues or something. Not that it matters, but it was noticed by me. |

Good ear Squishy I never noticed the 'dance for your life' thing probably because I did hear Nigel say it. You know sometimes we hear what we EXPECT to hear. |

He said it a LOT during the Vegas round! It's not really dancing for their lives anyway. It's not even dancing for their livelihood. It's dancing to keep dancing if anything.
