Opinionated Posts: 3,739 Group: Writer Member #317 Joined: August 14, 2005	Unfortunately there really was only one great performance and that was Jordan's first song. She was absolutely amazing. I thought she did well on the second also, but the first was a hard act to follow. I know the other judges dumped on her second effort but Simon had it right ... this girl is only 17 and she blows me away. I actually liked Blake. It wasn't his best but I don't see it as being as terrible as the judges said. Of course we all have our own tastes and I really like his originality. He isn't afraid to change things up. I think he will get a contract whether he wins or not. Melinda was okay and Lakisha was Lakisha ... time for her to go, though I fear it may be Blake. Read that Phil has been deployed. Wonder if that will mean he won't travel with the group this summer. As the first of the last five to go, if tradition carries continues he should find himself with a lucrative carreer after the service ... though there is always that saying ... out of sight out of mind. He needs to go country though

Is next week where the judges pick a song, Clive picks a song and they pick a song week? If so, I would like to see Lakisha go because I want to hear what Blake will do. I agreed with Randy last night about the beat-boxing. It's nice, but not all the time dude! Jordin was the night's winner hands down with Melinda a very close second. I wish I could get my hands on Randy's dictionary. I need to know what his definition of pitchy is?

ART Appreciator Posts: 66 Group: Member Member #860 Joined: August 17, 2006	I was hoping against hope that one of them would go deep into the 60's stuff and pull out some of the rock and roll the BeeGees did. I thought nearly every performance was terrible except for Jordin's first, which I thought was great. Her second wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't near as bad as the judges made it out. Their sole purpose on the show at this point is to hopefully sway voting. I really think the vote is going to get split with LaKisha and Melinda and they may find themselves on the outside looking in. In the meantime, Blake is raking in all the 9-13 year-old girls and the less myopic viewing public with a better sense of big-picture reality will pull for Jordin, who in every aspect of the word "entertainer" has more potential then anyone on the stage over the past 7 weeks. Not to be lost amongst the dismal performances of Tuesday was the fact that many of the songs were rendered nearly unrecognizable in the aftermath of each singer's attempt to make the song "their own." Note to performers: no matter how you may try, there are some classic tunes that will never be "your own" and you will be called out for trying to accomplish just that.

I honestly thought Lakisha butchered Staying Alive ... sorry but it just isn't a song for women. It is also associated too closely with the BeeGees. Actually though the judges didn't like it, Blake choosing a more obscure song was a brilliant move because it was like hearing it for the first time. Since it wasn't a hit, he could do pretty much what he wanted to do with it. I 100 percent agree about Jordin

ART Appreciator Posts: 66 Group: Member Member #860 Joined: August 17, 2006	LaKisha has made an attempt to change every tune she's done to this point and nearly every "mentor" or "tutor" or whatever we may call them, has suggested she not change or add or alter the tune because her voice is big enough to carry the tune itself. And, in spite of the seemingly endless recommendations, she continues to ignore the advice of those who have sold millions upon millions of records, as if they have no clue what they're talking about. Anyone hear the comments Barry Gibb made about Jordin last night becoming "one of our great female vocalists"- I'll be very happy for her if she wins it all.
