woah, i can't believe they voted two off last night! i guess it was to be suspected considering they didn't vote anyone off the week before. anyways, i know there are other posts regarding predictions and whatnot regarding who will win.

BUT, i want this post to be about who YOU want to be America's Next IDOL. Which one makes your heart go pitter-patter, your head sway side to side, and your ears listen in?

Our contestants include:

Jordin Sparks

Blake Lewis

Melinda Doolittle

Lakisha Jones

I’ll start.

Blake Lewis. Why? Because he’s blond, cute, can beat box, and really knows how to translate himself into a song. He emits a strong point-of-view, and while his performances lack some showmanship, his overall message is strong.

Who do YOU want to win?

I really want Melinda to win. All the rest are just boring to me... I like me some Lakisha on occassion, but in general, it's all about Melinda.

Blake answers all your questions for me, but I don't want him to win. The idol francise can't seem to handle their men, only bubbly cute women.

So let Jordin Win, and let Melinda and Blake rock it out on better terms.

Or let Blake rock it out in my apt. That'll make me happy too.

Jordin or Melinda will be okay with. I hope this is the final 2.

melinda is definitely going to be in the top 2, blake i'm unsure about.

i'm pretty sure it will be a dual between melinda and jordin though.

ernmalley: that's a good point, i never thought of that. it's probably best he doesn't win, there's no doubt he won't have offers after the show. he's like timberlake meets maroon 5, his style is deliciously pop.

aaaaaaand, if he makes it to your apt, CALL ME. lol
also, i didn't like his new hair, i wish he'd go back to the blond. what do you guys think?

Areth... I mean, Melinda! Though, Jordin may suit the Idol franchise more.

Sold, I'm not sure about his hair... but I love the way he dresses. He totally makes it work for him.

Well, you're both losers!! :giggle:

I knew Jordin would pull through in the end. Let's hope Simon's public apology helps! She made Blake look like an 80s fool!!! :laugh

The song picked for the "winner" was very biased towards Jordin. I adore both Blake and Jordin and won't mind which wins but the type of song chosen is not Blakes forte.

I agreed with Simon that as pure entertainment Blake took the competition but adding in the This is My Now song the advantage went to Jordin in a pure singing competiton.

These two has such totally different appeal, though I had chosen them as my favorites since day one, either could win depending on which genre the voting majority liked.

This is a win win situtation for me at least. It is also win win for both the winner and the loser. Chris and Elliot prove that.

I kept thinking while Blake was destroying the new song why he didn't rearrange it to fit his vocal stylings? I did like the song by the way!

Simon only gave Blake the entertainment props in his first set. He's not my style so I'm starting to hedge toward making fun of him so I'll just leave it at that. :laugh

Actually Funnygirl, at the end Simon did once again mention that Blake was the best "entertainer" but that this was a 'singing' competition, as Randy reminded him so he chose Jordin to wn.

However, of course, I don't agree that it is a pure singing competition. A lot of people can sing, but if they can't entertain, they don't make money. This comp is call American Idol, NOT America Singing Idol. One of the criticisims Lakisha and Melinda received often was though they had great voices they were not 'entertaining' or interesting to watch ... these were Simon's words.

Lakisha wasn't voted off, or given bad reviews because she couldn't sing .. it was because there had no entertainment value or passion. It can not be denied she had one of the best voices on the show.

Melinda was the same. She had a voice that could blow you away but she didn't entertain. Doing anything but standing there singing seemed strained and unnatural for her.

IF anyone was going to win this based completely on their singing then is should have been Melinda, hands down. But, how many people would have gone to see Elvis if he never swiveled those hips, or twitched that lip? It has to be the total package....why else would music videos be so darn popular?

Having said all of that, I too thought the new song was 100% better than anything from past seasons. I thought Tayor had it tough with his but Blake just didn't make it with this one either. Taylor's song was also better suited to Katherine than to him.

As for changing it up to suit him ... maybe they weren't permitted to do that??!!

Of DWTS and American Idol bid us adieu so now where do we go till BB comes back? LOL

I doubt they put that type of restraint on the song. Fantasia did a completely different version at her finale'. Whatever. No biggy! :laugh

I was as entertained by Blake as I was by the great singers in this competition. I really can't put Lakisha there. She had one stellar performance, the rest was blah for me. She wasn't as versatile as some of the others. I am so looking forward to the finale tonight.

Side note: Can i just say that somebody needs to tell Constantine Maroulis that he needs to find a new schtick. He looks like a damn fool when he pouts into any camera that happens to be in his face. Get over yourself fool!!

Simon most aptly put it last night- Jordin wiped the floor with Blake. He simply showed how vocally limited he is and how he will most likely record music for a specific genre. Jordin, however, will cross over into several listening demographics.

Randy keeps bringing up the fact of her age and I have to admit I am very impressed with her maturity well beyond her years. Her parents should be very proud.

She's the Idol and should be crowned tonight. I'll DVR it and FF thru all the crap and commercials later this evening.

MAVENO!!!! :yay: welcome back! Yeah, that's who I vote for too

Hiya dflem! Didn't see this post til now, backatcha sweetheart!!

Melinda killed it last night!!! She was way too good for AI.

Jordin won, which is fine with me. She's a good singer, but IMO, not the best.

Blake was REALLY good with Doug E Fresh. It was THE only time he was on stage when I liked it. I really don't like how Blake sings, but his beatbox last night was realllly good. He should keep going with that, I think.

I really enjoyed the finale. Top notch performers and always entertaining.
