So Haley's gone now... Phil and Chris were bottom three. Simon went to Africa, and the African girl drew Simon with boobies :giggle:

Paula was high as a kite, and Akon performed, as did J-Lo.

Sanjaya had me rolling on the floor when he did his one and only solo line in the group performance of Bailamos, as he whispered "seductively" It made me laugh... a great feat considering his mustache creeps me out BIG TIME.

I thought the mustache was a faux mustache like the faux hawk but guess I was wrong.

The public got it right this time.

I really hoped Chris would have been in the bottom 2. I think he and BLake are so incredibly overrated!!

Wait, you can't have wanted Blake and Chris to disappear before "Country Week!" Don't you wanna see "Beat-Box Country" and "Justin Wannabe Country?' It's gonna be funnier than watching Howard Stern's radio career circle the drain.

I am personally looking forward to laughing my butt off next week because I abhor country music and this group couldn't be farther from any country talent than, oh I don't know, say, Latin music. Oh, that's right, they tried to do that as well.

What a freakin' Nightmare on Hollywood Blvd this'll be!

Latin music advice by J-Lo: You have to connect with the person you're singing to. Feel the meaning of the words, feel the soul of the song, let the emotion of the song move you.

Country music advice by whoever: Be drunk, drive a pickup truck with your dog in the back that you just took from your ex-wife and are dropping off at your former lover's barn and take her horse...

Nice lead with this post Anybodyhome. :laugh It's too bad Stern's career couldn't sink as fast as Imus'.

Then you had to ruin it by disparaging country music. :no

Martina McBride is mentoring next week and the woman has a voice! If country music were so bad, then a lot of pop, latin, hip hop, reggae artists wouldn't be jumping on the bandwagon.

Just take a deep breath and sit back and be amused while the wannabes of this show try and tackle country music. I think the only one of the group that stands a chance is Jordin. This is all about song selection as Mandisa, Matt Rogers and Jessica Sierra has proven in the past.

Well, Imus and his plight isn't funny to me and I don't find that amusing in the least.

And I didn't "disparage" country music, I simply said I abhor it, dislike it, don't understand the least of it and simply don't think very highly of it, and those are my opinions and taste.

But, I really do enjoy disagreeing with someone and having the mutual respect to carry on, as you and I have our moments, but we're still here! Trust me, I do know of some country singers who I think have great voices and I actually have listened to some Dixie Chicks...

I agree that it's about song selection, funnygirl - so much country doesn't even sound "country" these days. I'm also looking forward to seeing Martina McBride - I saw her in concert once and she was amazing.

:laugh Pretty disparaging. :laugh

It's not for everybody and it's had a really big-haired, tight twang past, but it's evolved.

Okay, call it "disparaging." I still don't like it.

I appreciate your honesty and candor. :D

Look at it this way: if everybody fails; you can recognize that country music isn't as easy as it seems! ;)

I will go on record to say that if Martina performs you will be blown away by her powerful voice!

Where have I been to have missed this mixed bag of comments? Everyone is right, we all like what we like. I am more of an easy listening, gospel music and oldies fan myself. Guess that ages me. I can't name even one current top 10 song. But I know all the words to "I can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me. However that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the talent of singers in another genre.

I have lived in Ohio most of my life so Country Music was never a popular genre until it became really big everywhere. I moved to Texas for a while in the mid 70's and Country was ALL that I heard and I hated it. I left and came back to Ohio 3 years later and Country Music became rooted in my soul.

I can't even name current artist unless they are being talked about all the time like J LO and Britany or they were on American Idol. But having said all of this there are songs I hear from all types of music, including, dare I say it, Rap, that I can appreciate

As for the Idol wannabes I think Jordan, Chris, Phil and Blake will do well with it. I can't see Lakisha or Melinda crashing and burning, they will do it technically correct. Sanjaya, well it doesn't matter the Tweens will love him.

Speaking of which, if I didn't say it before Sanjaya actually did a good job last week. I thought it odd he was the only one to learn the Spanish words to Latin music.

Do we all love Carrie Underwood? Am I mistaken or is she Country? I thought I heard her sing country, but I listen mainly to talk radio.

Speaking of Imus, a good man who did a bad thing. We've all been there. We do a TV show at our station with a black MC. The same guy recently became a talk show host on a local radio show and had our station manager as a guest. Our SM was plugging the TV show and said I wonder who it is that hosts that show. Well the BLACK host said I am the nappy haired guy that hosts both shows.

NOTHING .... no one called in upset no one got angry. Because he was making the comment about himself. I don't believe it is right, but it goes to show you what the American mentality has become.

Go Idols and watch your comments.

We need to start an Imus discussion in the Lounge!

Yes, Carrie Underwood is country. In fact, she's topping out the country charts every other week. This week she's hostessing country music's Top 40 with Lon Helton (I listended this morning). :laugh

Sanjaya did a good job, but I think the Spanish was already there chairo. It's just a guess though. :D I still say his sister should have made this competition.

VH1CR carries a show called "Classic in Concert" which are liver concert performances at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City with the big rock bands of the last 20-30 years who are still touring.

Recently they featured Heart and Katharine McPhee performed onstage with the band and was absolutely phenomenal. One of the best performances I've ever seen from a guest vocalist performing with anyone.
