Why All-Stars isn't as good as a regular season

One of the reasons why I think All-Stars isn't as good as a normal season (with fresh people) is because the all-stars aren't grateful to be there (save for george). boogie and james are bored and want the season to end. it's understandable, because there is little strategy involved with people you know and have watched before. it's fun when you don't know the person and don't know what they're capable. the fun of reality tv comes from its unpredictability.

agree? disagree?

why do YOU think it isnt as good (if you think that)?

The problem is these people aren't all stars.
Janelle is too frigid and thinks it's a team game plus she always targets the women
Howie's dumb always has been. And can't win a competition
James plays with anger instead of his brain. No reason for him to want Janelle out when she was on his side.
Mike boogie is will's puppet and was season 2 also
George? I mean please
Diane is a whiner instead of a doer
Nakomis is smart but picks the wrong alliances
Erika is way too sure of herself and tries to stay in the back of the bus. That's not all star play that's luck
Jase is stupid, yet thinks he's some sort of master mind when he's an idiot
Marcellas adds humor but not strong play
Kaysar - see jase.
All these people lost for a reason in their own seasons.

Will won and danielle should have won her season but people were poor sports about the fact that she played them like fiddles. That's what it means to be an all-star. These other people are not all-stars. Everyone else who's ever reached the finals got there by staying in the background and out of the way. Will and dani are aggressors, and take people out. I could have picked 12 other people who are way better.

I disagree 110%! I love All Stars because of the unperdictablility factor. The only thing I did not like about this season is that there was a LOT of talking before the show aired. I know some of the Survivors talked before their All Star season, but not to the degree these boneheads have. I get the feeling we just might here about some pacts made before the 14 names were called at the beginning of this season.

As for pedictable, what's so predictable about this game? Who knew that Chicken George was going to last this long. What about the fact that these "masters of the game" have continued to let Will fly under the radar. :S

The only thing that this game hasn't done is shifted power as much as it had in the past. The game only gets better when jury members are evicted. B)

the predictability comes in because we KNOW these people. with fresh faces, you spend time getting to know them, working out their quirks, etc. sure it's fun seeing janelle and will again, but it's not fun watching people who are bored and who aren't grateful.

I'm with you! I love this season. Granted, I did not watch until season 4, so I don't really know the people before that -- but nonetheless, I was so excited to see all my favorites returning.

One note: James told Dani today that Jase told him when Jase and Janelle won the duel HOH that she was planning to target the men. It was THEN that JAMES planted the seed that they needed to get rid of Alison. The rest is history.

There were a few problems with this season.

First, a few people who were dominant in their season lost their touch this season or didn't have the footing needed to really get in the game. This would go for Ali, Nakomis, and Diane. Ali was an intense competitor, Nakomis was one of the smartest players ever, and Diane was great at jumping ship, creating the hostility needed to get farther in the game, etc. - yet, this season, they didn't have the base that they needed to have because of the S6 pull. And, since they were the targets (for no apparent reason, I might add - Ali was the only one that really did much of anything against S6), they pretty much started with a handicap. Next, there were the players that just shouldn't have been there. Here's looking at you, Kaysar, Jase and Howie. Kaysar did a little bit of strategy, Jase won a competition, and Howie caused some drama, but Jase and Kaysar got kicked out right before the jury in their seasons and Howie shouldn't have been there because, well, he made the biggest error of his season, second in the history of BB only to not using the veto. The problem with the rest of the cast is that, for the most part, they were too dominant. If you throw Janelle, Danielle, and Will in a house, odds are that, while you're going to get some good fireworks at times, eventually Janelle will begin winning ever challenge, Will will come up with some way to keep himself safe, and Danielle will manipulate the situation to her liking. They're almost too good for the game. Unfortunately, since we pretty much know what they're going to do - Dani's the only one that changed up her strategy, and the only difference is that she isn't playing with a partner and that she's nicer - we can't get too excited.

The second problem with this season is that the real game began and ended far, far too quickly. I remember someone online somewhere saying that the beginning of the "real" game and the ending of it, where the winner begins to become apparent, vary from season to season. For instance, they said that the beginning of season 6 was when Eric left, and the ending was when Kaysar left for the second time. This season, the beginning and the ending were both when Diane was kicked out and Danielle won HOH. That guarenteed that Chilltown would be sitting pretty and that Danielle would be sitting pretty, because at that point Danielle had enough protection by allies to be safe from her enemy and ChillTown was anything but a target. So, basically, the first few weeks we watched were boring because the same people kept on winning and ever since it's been boring because everything up until about the final four is pretty much locked in stone.

Of course, there are some great strategy sessions worth catching every now and then - but on the whole, I think I like it better when there are new people.
*Insert saying that I think is funny here*

I've been enjoying it, but it's not just the players, it's goofy competitions, nomination ceremonies, the Inspector Clouseau music they play during the "live vote". The food competition's can get really cheesey (no pun intended). Where else can you watch someone shoot hoops with a rubber chicken.
When it comes to less then half of the 14, I really like All-Stars. When I consider the other two-thirds...I don't like it. But I don't think it's been predictable. I was no fan of Mike Boogie, but now I am. I would not have predicted that. It will be a lot more interesting and enjoyable for me once they dump Georgie & Erica.

You gotta remember that half of the people that were available to vote for, were probably the only people that were willing to go back into the house.

I love this format mainly because it feels more loose, less cutthroat than most reality shows...at least until Dani's little hottub incident. Then again it could just be chill town's humor, but I like that they all realize it's just a game.
