Millions of people battle weight problems every year. To be successful you need the support of others. These two engaged couples come from different backgrounds with very different goals. Our couples are Rasha & Edwin and Sarah & Steven. Rasha wants to be thin, hot, and sexy while Sarah wants to get healthy so that she can become a mom. At a $50,000 dream wedding, who will walk down the aisle as The Biggest Loser? Sarah and Steven: Steven has always felt big. Sarah just likes to eat. She has medical problems because of her weight. Her goal is to become a mom. Steven is very supportive of Sarah. While they are home from college, they go to lunch with family. After eating Steven proposes to Sarah and then they receive a phone call. It's Jillian. (She must have psychic abilities to invite a "just engaged" couple to the ranch). They are excited. But like everyone else, they are a little nervous about Jillian being their trainer. Rasha and Edwin: They have been engaged for two years. Rasha grew up as the "big girl." Now she wants to love her body. Edwin was thinner before he met Rasha. He's gained over thirty pounds. When he looks in the mirror, he complains about his "boobs." While they are out looking at a wedding dress and tux they get the call from trainer Bob. He invites them to the ranch. They are also excited. (During the conversation Rasha tells Bob twice to "Shut-up!") The couples have an evening arrival at the 24 hr. gym. (Normally I'm not one to say much about these people because they are going to try and improve their health and apperance, however, the shirt that Sarah was wearing was stretched so far across her chest I thought it would go at any moment.) Caroline greets them, breaking down what to expect. They will be at the ranch for two weeks with their trainers learning the tools they will need to head home and change their lives. When they return for their final weigh in the couple that has lost the greatest percentage of weight will win a $50,000 dream wedding. Caroline tells them it's time to say good bye to a past love interest. (At this point Rasha is afraid they've found an old boyfriend.) Once again food is surrounding the giant scale. Edwin is disgusted but notices it's all his favorite foods. Steven just loves anything with cheese. They are all dreading getting on the scale for the first time. Caroline asks how they feel about winning the prize. Rasha comments that a big wedding is "every girl's" dream and she wants to bask in the glory. Sarah says they are there to "take no prisoners and the other couple is gonna hate the day they met us." Time for first weigh in: Rasha: 237lbs (she says "that's like a linebacker" "You can't get married at 237lbs.) Edwin: 240 Couple total: 477 Sarah: 297 Steven: 274 Couple total: 571 They feel they are going to have to work harder. After the two weeks are over the couple that has lost the greatest percentage of weight will win a romantic honeymoon to Jamaica. The couples retire to their bungalows. Inside they find their "Dream Sizes" in wedding clothes. Each couple has a wedding dress and tux that they will have to work very hard to fit into. Great motivation. The next morning Bob runs to Rasha and Edwin's bungalow. He says they are going to have to forget everything they've been taught. Bob wants to talk with them to get to know them and be able to help. He gets them out of bed. Edwin makes the comment that "I would be skinny if I wasn't with Rasha." To which she basically agrees. ( Guess they don't know about freewill and she's been force feeding him these past two years.)Jillian is running like a mad woman to Sarah and Steven's. She jumps on their bed and heads them out for a three hour work-out. They'll talk later. Jillian teaches them to support each other during their work-outs. Sarah says that she feels like people always stare at her if she goes to the gym. Sarah is a mess and has to go outside where she gets sick.Rasha says on a scale from 1 to 10 her workout is 5000. Edwin is getting whipped. Bob is pushing them. It's time for Jillian to sit down and talk to her team. She wants to find out their goals and talk to them about healthy eating habits. Steven breaks down. He feels like he's let himself down. Sarah wants to feel young and have more energy. Time for temptation: Rasha comes out with a loud "Oh No," as she sees a beautiful wedding cake awaiting in the gazebo. They can all smell the butter cream. Before the teams are plates with slices of wedding cake. If they chose to try for the prize, they must eat the whole piece to see if they win and they can continue until it's found. What are they playing for: diamond wedding bands worth $10,000. Rasha is about ready to rush the table. She has to go and take a closer look at the rings. She really wants to, but Edwin says "No way." Sarah says she'd "rather have a size 10 wedding dress than a $10,000 wedding band." Neither couple participates. Rasha is very upset. Edwin comments that he's spoiled her in the past. He's going to start telling her no, more often. He tells her they can have a snack of broccoli. In a childish voice she says "Oh good, broccoli instead of cake." The next morning Sarah is having trouble getting out of bed. Can we say sore? Edwin says he couldn't work with Jillian because of the way she does things. Her authority scares him. (That let's us know a little more about Edwin.) Jillian is pushing Steven to work harder to get Sarah to do the same thing. The couples are taken to a country chapel where there are ten limos lined up on either side of a red carpet aisle. Caroline asks our couples, "What's the perfect wedding gift?" They all yell, "Money." Hidden in each limo (10) there is $500. The first couple to find all the money and reach the chapel first will win the money, plus a personal chef. Since these couples are about to tie the knot, they will be bound together by a rope. Sarah and Steven have a huge lead at one point. Rasha and Edwin catch up. At the last limo the couples are close. It's a race to the chapel. Sarah and Steven win the $5000 and personal chef. Last chance work-out. Both trainers are pushing their teams hard. Edwin says it's been the toughest two weeks. He feels confident going into the weigh-in. Steven is pushing himself hard. Bob tells Rasha she's gonna thank him when she gets on the scale after she's been complaining. Ranch Final Weigh-In: Rasha/Edwin Total: 477lbs. Sarah/Steven Total: 571lbs. The couple that loses the biggest percentage of weight will win the honeymoon trip. Rasha: 237lbs lost 15lbs 222 Edwin: 240lbs lost 26lbs 214 Total lost: 41lbs Total %: 8.60 Sarah and Steven have to lose more than 49lbs to win. At this point Sarah thinks it's over. Steven: 274lbs lost 30lbs 244 Sarah: 297lbs lost 25lbs 272 (When Sarah walked into the weigh-in, you could notice a huge change in her face. But once again I have to comment on her attire. She needs to invest in a sports bar. Seeing the straps was a little much. You would think the show's stylist would help out a little bit. ) Total lost: 55lbs Total %: 9.63 Sarah and Steven are the big winners leaving the ranch. They won the $5000 limo challenge, a honeymoon in Jamaica, plus the personal chef. Rasha and Edwin are not happy. It's written all over their face. But it's not over yet. Join us next Wednesday when we find out how the couples do when they return home and are faced with the temptation of everyday life. Plus it will be one final weigh in to see who wins the title of "Biggest Loser." |

Another great recap. I really wasn't feeling this episode. It was all about the girls whining, etc. They could have condensed this quite a bit and shown us the results show too. I totally agree about the bra Sarah was wearing. If you're going to let the straps show at least make it a white-white or colored bra not dingey.

I really wish they would show more of their experience at the ranch and the "tools" they are learning. The Special Edition is not bad, but you don't get that connection with these people like we do on the regular version. Thanks for the comments FG! |
