It's time for our two hour Special Edition of The Biggest Loser. This time we will be seeing two families that have faced personal challenges go head to head to win the title of Biggest Loser and win $50,000. Caroline opens the show and tells us some of the hardships the Samuel's and Muha's have faced. Melony Samuel (blue team Mom) is a cancer survivor and is now living with one kidney. The Muha's only son has been in Iraq and it's been a long time since they have seen him. The families will travel to the ranch to get the tools they need to live a healthier life and try to win $50,000. They will be getting help from our favorite trainers, Bob and Jillian. Bob will work with the three Samuel's and Jillian will work with the Muha's. The Muha's (Tampa, FL) consist of Dad Otto, Mom Shaun, and Daughter Erica. They are self described as a hard-working family. Erica works two jobs and attends school. She did not go to her high school prom and hasn't had a boyfriend. Their only son is in the Air Force and is overseas. We see the Muha's at home preparing a turkey, a good healthy choice. Until Dad Otto drops the bird into a deep fryer. They receive a message from Jillian that they have been chosen. You can feel the moan of agony as the family realizes they are in for a hardcore work out.The Samuel's (Atlanta, GA) consist of Dad Don, Mom Melony, and Daughter Ravee. They have named themselves Team Showtime. Mom Melony was a former Miss Black Atlanta. Dad Don wants to be Denzel-isious. Daughter Ravee sings in church and has a very beautiful voice. Don makes the comment that they've been sitting at the devil's table (with the weight gain). They show the family at a resturant after church services having lunch. It looks like they bypassed the plates and used the serving trays to pile up the food. They receive their message from Bob that they have been chosen to go to the ranch. Ravee wants to cry, but she'll mess up her make-up. The families meet Caroline in the 24hr. Gym. It's time for them to say their final farewells. Surrounding the scale is all their favorite food. At this point I'm expecting the pig-out session, but no go. It's cold turkey for these families. The families will be at the ranch for 11 days. After which they will return home for several months to use what they've learned. The first trip to the scale is no fun. Blue Team Samuel's Don- 243 lbs Melony- 197 lbs Ravee- 177 lbs Total: 617 lbs Red Team Muha's Otto- 259 lbs Shaun- 232 lbs Erica- 233 lbs Total: 724 lbs At the end of the 11 days at the ranch, the family with the most percentage of weight loss will win a five day vacation at Spring Valley Spa in Utah. The teams go to their bungalows to find pictures from the past and present of themselves. It shows their thinner versions and their most recent pictures with the added weight. The next morning both teams are on the treadmills when their trainers arrive. Shaun (Red Mom) is afraid of the pain that Jillian is going to inflict on them. Bob takes the Samuel's on a little hike to get them started. Otto is very proud of his wife and let's us know he thinks she's a hero. The teams are taken to the desert for a reward challenge. The winning team will get a computer, camera and printer for their effort. Each team has to haul a giant sundae for some distance while they are followed by ice cream trucks. The trays are extremely heavy and each team must put them down and readjust a few times. It's close but the Muha's win. This has given the team a confidence boost. Fast forward to Day 5 at the ranch: Jillian has the Red Team on treadmill's except for Mom Shaun who appears to be lifting weights. Jillian wants to see the family dynamic in action and spots right away that Shaun wants Jillian to let Erica stop. Jillian tells her that she is an enabler and that she needs to step back and let Erica do things for herself. A few days later it's time to test the teams knowledge. They are getting a pop quiz. The winning team will win a $2500 shopping spree. At this point you can see that Ravee has already got all the money spent professing that she's a mallaholic. This pop quiz is open book. The teams have 20 minutes to complete the test. After reviewing their answers together, once again the Muha's win and get the shopping spree. The Samuel family is pretty down with losing two challenges in a row. They feel like it's an emotional rollercoaster. Time for last chance work out before they leave the ranch. Both teams are working hard. Otto challenges Don to a race after Don has talked some smack to Jillian. Otto does good at the beginning, but Don pulls it out and smokes him by several seconds. Otto won't be challenging Don to another race anytime soon. Final Ranch Weigh In Red Team Erica 233 loses 15lbs: 218 Shaun 232 loses 18lbs: 214 Otto 259 loses 25lbs: 234 Total lbs: 58 Total % 8.01 Blue Team Ravee 177 loses 18lbs: 159 Melony 197 loses 14lbs: 183 Don 243 loses 23lbs: 220 Total lbs: 55 Total % 8.91 The Blue Team (Samuel's) win the weigh in and the five day vacation. But it's not over yet. It's time for our two teams to return home and to the challenges of everyday life. In Tampa at the Muha's and Atlanta at the Samuels, they enter their homes to find all new kitchen appliances and a fully stocked fridge. They also now have home gyms in their living rooms and a message from their trainers. Jillian expects the Muha's to win and Bob knows the Samuel's will stay focused. Both families find that it's hard without their trainers motivation. These families help each other during their workouts and it seems to bring them all closer. The families seem overwhelmed because the weight doesn't seem to be coming off as quickly. Don returns to work and talks to his co-workers about helping him stay motivated. Shauna goes to her doctor for a 3 month check up after cancer. He is pleased that she has lost weight and she gets a good report. Over at the Muha's Son Ryan comes home from Iraq. He is suprised at his family's downsize. They are extremely emotional and happy that he's home. Erica is showing off that her clothes are much too big for her. Don jokes with the camera "Otto see me now- Smoked him the first time. He'll be smoked like ham the next time." Don has started a walking group with his co-workers when he hears a familiar voice say, "He told me he was going to start a walking group." It's Bob arriving for a suprise visit. Don and Bob head to the gym where his wife and daughter are working out. Bob thinks they all look stunning. He puts them back to working out. As the Muha's are lounging by their pool, Jillian comes for a visit. She thinks they look incredible. Her mission is to give them a good beating. Shaun thought water aerobics was supposed to be easy. :shifty Bob invited himself to the Samuel house to hear Ravee sing. He comments that she has such a big voice coming out of such a little body. Ravee has much more confidence now. She knows that she will be an entertainer. The trainers leave each family a DVD to give them encouragement. The DVD's contain footage of their beginnings with the show. This is very upsetting to Erica who doesn't want to watch. Each family member is suprised at how much weight they were carrying. Erica needed to lose 50lbs before the Air Force would even consider her. She is visited by a Master Sgt. who informs her that her paperwork is being processed. Erica loves her country and it has always been her dream to be apart of the Air Force. Each family receives a Biggest Loser Gram. It's a sneak peak of the competition. The Samuel's are sent a picture of the Muha's before the ranch and a current one since they've been home. The Muha's get one of the Samuel's. They are impressed with each other. The Muha's decided to put the picture up and not look at it again. Each family kicks it into high gear. Five months ago the families started their journey at the ranch. Tonight will be their final weigh-in. They are all brought together in Hollywood with their family and friends. The Samuel family comes out and Caroline's mouth hits the floor. They show the before pictures and you can really tell that each member has lost alot of weight. A mirror comes out so the families cannot see each other. The Muha's enter. Each family faces the mirror. They all look wonderful. The mirror is pulled away and the families are shocked at the difference. Bob and Jillian arrive to hugs. The Samuel's will weigh in first, after a look back at their journey. They are so amazed at how they looked before, and how their hardwork has paid off. Ravee- 177 lost 41lbs: 136 Melony-197 lost 48lbs: 149 Don -243 lost 55lbs: 188 Total lost: 144lbs Total %: 23.34 The Muha's have to lose at least 169lbs to win. We take a look back with the Muha's at their journey. Erica is once again overwhelmed by how much she weighed. Erica- 233 lost 52lbs: 181 Otto - 259 lost 89lbs: 170 Shaun-232 lost 78lbs: 154 Total lost 219lbs. The Muha family wins the Special Family Edition of the Biggest Loser and $50,000. Update: Muha's- Otto is going to run a marathon; Shaun went from a size 16 to a size 6; Erica is now in the Air Force and currently has a boyfriend. Samuel's- Don is studying to be a personal trainer; Melony continues to be cancer free; Ravee has been in an Off-Broadway production of "The Wiz." Join us next week when The Biggest Loser Special Edition will feature Engaged Couple competing for a $50,000 wedding. |

You are so ON TOP of things it's scarey lPatrick!! I'm not sure if I like the condensed version of this show. Last night's show was great but the ending was anti-climactic for me. There was no way in hell after seeing the two families hit the stage that the Muha's were going to lose. Mom and dad looked almost emaciated!!! They must have called Danni from Survivor to get some tips. ![]() Great recap!! |

Those who can't laugh at themselves, leave the job to others. Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders & says... 'Oh, crap...she's awake!!’ | |

Great job, lpatrick!! That must have been a ton of work, such a big show. And Caroline once again wins the fashion mistake of the night. A necklace should not hang down so it disappears between your boobs. Ugh. Gaudy. |
