![]() Age: 30 Hometown: Los Angeles, CA. Education: F.I.D.M. Santino Quinto Rice was born and raised in St. Charles, Missouri. At 17, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a fashion designer. Santino graduated from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. School helped him organize his thoughts; however the hands-on experience he gained from working in the fashion industry was his move valuable education. While still in school, Santino began assisting acclaimed artist/designer Tony Duquette. This experience was one of the biggest turning points in Santino’s life. The knowledge he learned from Duquette was invaluable. With a love for the process of making things, Santino was adamant on learning everything he could about dressmaking. Santino became skilled at all the technical aspects of garment construction. When designer positions were not available, Santino could easily keep afloat financially by taking other positions such as “cutter” or assistant designer, due to his knowledge and experience. Working behind the scenes at many Los Angeles fashion companies, Santino became indispensable to other designers. He continues honing his craft to prepare for the day when he establishes his own label. Santino is constantly looking for something he has never seen before. Known for bringing an exotic and handcrafted touch to his garments, Santino believes in the concept of infusing worth and importance to a garment, he does this through handwork and various finishing techniques. |

Q & A Q. How would you describe your design philosophy or point of view? A. I believe the importance of a great designer or visionary depends upon ones ability to filter the past, and be current in the present, to create something relevant for the future. No one can tell my stories better than me. Q. What would someone close to you describe as your best and worst traits? A. Best: Highly imaginative, compassionate Worst: Too trusting of others, Too hard on myself Q. What was your most embarrassing moment? A. I don't get embarrassed really, I think my most pleasant memories in life come from times when things went wrong. Q. What is an odd fact or talent you possess? A. I can hear a song once and know it, music and lyrics Q. Who are the designers you admire most? A. Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen, Azzedine Alaia, Christian Dior, Hubert Givenchy, Yohji Yamamoto Q. What are your favorite fashion magazines? A. Italian Vogue, W, I-D, V Q. What are your favorite TV shows? A. I don't get a chance to watch much T.V. but I enjoy Inside the Actor's Studio, The Office, South Park, A & E Biographies. Q. What are your favorite movies? A. Blazing Saddles, History of the World part 1, any and all Mel Brookes films. Q. If you could design an outfit for any living person, who would be your dream client and why? A. Probably, Anna Wintour of Vogue Magazine. I'd also like to dress Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! Q. Who was your favorite designer from Season 1? A. Jay! He's funny, down to earth, and you can see the pain in his eyes. |

Oh the drama! I really liked the dress last night but I really want to smack Santino. What an attitude! |

I really wanted to like him, but he's quickly become my least favorite on the show. |

Oh he's playing the flamboyant designer to the hilt. I thought as I watched him wear those high heels... why on earth would a man who didn't have to wear those do it? Little attention 'ho.

He's what I like to call an "ass-hat". I dislike him more and more every week. His designs are about one embellishment too much for me. You know that rule about accessories where you're supposed to take one thing off just before you leave the house...he needs to do that to his model before they hit the runway. Not to mention his contant use of the shades of purple. |

Like Lobeck, I want to like him but he makes it so hard. He's just so arrogant and he just had to get a dig in at Nick's win with his speech about not caring about the Barbie challenge. I did like his dress this week but it's so similar to his previous dresses, he needs to mix it up a bit. |

As much as I hate this guy, when he did that imitation of Tim Gunn talking to Daniel, I thought it was quite funny

I got to see the repeat of this week's episode last night. Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Santino needs to get over himself--please! |
