Nick Verreos was born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Caracas, Venezuela to a Greek-American diplomat father and a Venezuelan mother. Nick's Mediterranean-Latin heritage has been infused into his philosophy of design. His dream has always been to design sexy yet elegant women’s wear that emphasizes beautiful draping and clean lines. After graduating from UCLA and The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles (FIDM), Nick has worked as a Designer and Patternmaker for various Southern California design houses. Currently he is an instructor at FIDM as well as a freelance patternmaker. He also co-designs a small line he created with his partner five years ago called NIKOLAKI, which has been showcased in “Smashbox Los Angeles Fashion Week.” When he is not drawing or draping, Nick loves dance/house music, discussing world politics, watching “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” reading “Hello Magazine” and line dancing. |

Q & A Q. How would you describe your design philosophy or point of view? A. I just want to make women look feminine, sexy and elegant, all at the same time. Q. What would someone close to you describe as your best and worst traits? A. Best traits: (my friends would say): funny, creative, determined, I give 110% of myself to everything I do. Q. What was your most embarrassing moment? A. My first time teaching, I took out a Sharpie pen and proceeded to write my whole lecture /demo on the board. When it was over , I tried to erase it all, but nothing was happening(except creating a big mess on the board), until a student announced(to my embarrassment): "Mr. Verreos, I think that's a 'dry eraser board'-did you use DRY ERASER MARKERS?" Oooops. Q. What is an odd fact or talent you possess? A. I can name every country in the world and their ethnic make-up. I also consider myself a "missiologist", an expert on international beauty pageants. These fit the category of being both a talent and an odd fact! Q. Who are the designers you admire most? A. Present: Olivier Theyskens of Rochas, Roland Mouret,Nicholas Ghesquiere of Balenciaga, Sophia Kokosalaki, Viktor and Rolf, DSquared. Past: Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Balenciaga and Charles James Q. What are your favorite fashion magazines? A. Vogue Italia, Visionaire, Surface, Nylon, and Radar. Q. What are your favorite TV shows? A. "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", "BBC World News", "Curb Your Enthusiasm", "Footballers Wives", "Real Time With Bill Maher". Q. What are your favorite movies? A. Anything by Pedro Almodovar("Bad Education") and Alfred Hitchcock("To Catch A Thief") Q. If you could design an outfit for any living person, who would be your dream client and why? A. Spanish models/socialites, Nieves Alvarez, Ines Sastre and Elena Cue , as well as Bollywood actress/former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai and American China Chow --ideal "Nick Verreos" women: strong, sensual, confident, international women. Q. Who was your favorite designer from Season 1? A. Kara Saun and Jay McCarroll were my favorites from Season 1.Kara for her elegant and sexy aesthetic and Jay for his quirky and original take on sportswear. |

I absolutely adore this man on paper! |

Those who can't laugh at themselves, leave the job to others. Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders & says... 'Oh, crap...she's awake!!’ | |

Same here FG, he's also my pick to win. His designs are all great and he has a likeable personality, I think he's hilarious. He also lucked out by getting Tarah as his model, she is stunning, has a great walk and the two of them seem to work great with each other. They seem very close so here's to both of them winning! |

I have a feeling when Nick says "I can't believe this bitch did this" someone stole Tarah away

I hope not Lal though I wouldn't be surprised as I think Tarah is the best on the runway. I'd be mad if that happens though as I want her and Nick to stay together until the end!

I caught an episode of "Extra" last night and I am totally blanking on names, but they were featuring the woman from Desperate Housewives that plays the woman that committed suicide in the first episode - Mary Alice, played by Brenda Strong?? Anyway, they showed her getting ready for an award show, and her designer ... NICK! |
