Age: 24
Hometown: New York, NY.
Education: Fashion Institute of Technology

Daniel, a recent graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, has traveled the world over in order to broaden his fashion technique and cultivate his talents as a designer. From fashion seminars by Li Edelkoort in Florence, Milan and Paris to working at Gorland/Ittiere in London, Daniel has been a committed globetrotter in order to find his place in the fashion world.

His efforts were rewarded when he was chosen as one of two students from F.I.T. to participate in Milan’s international design competition Milano Studia la Moda in November 2004. He also received critical acclaim when critic Emilio Cavalini chose Daniel’s design for his own window display during the Pitti Filati 2004/2005 Trend Show. Daniel then returned to the United States to gather more experience working alongside fashion designer Sari Gueron as an intern for the spring ’05 season in New York City.

Though designing is Daniel’s principal passion, he has also achieved professional status as a dance instructor/choreographer as well as being a competitive national gymnast for 12 years. Daniel’s zest for life continues to expose him to new ideas and people, leading him to the cast of Project Runway. When he is not designing, Daniel intends to continue pursuing other interests such as learning the violin by the time he’s 25 and learning to surf before age 30.

Q & A.

Q.How would you describe your design philosophy or point of view?
A. Classically chic with a modern sensibility.

Q. What would someone close to you describe as your best and worst traits?
A. My motivation. It pushes me in my lowest times, but it's ruined a relationship or two in the past... it's my greatest strength as well as my biggest weakness.

Q. What was your most embarrassing moment?
A. Not having the time to get a tan or a haircut before I went onto the show - and having to look at that pasty, shaggy man that I was!

Q. What is an odd fact or talent you possess?
A. I was a competitive gymnast for twelve years up to my senior year in HS, as well as a dancer for the past eight.

Q. Who are the designers you admire most?
A. Alexander McQueen for his endless imagination, Miuccia Prada for creating her own trends, Tom Ford for his ability to tell people what they want, and Alber Elbaz for just being himself.

Q. What are your favorite fashion magazines?
A. Vogue L'oumo, Surface, i-D, Italian Vogue.

Q. What are your favorite TV shows?
A. Will & Grace, Nip/Tuck and Lost (really the only tv that I watch!)

Q. What are your favorite movies?
A. The Hours, Singing in the Rain, Bad Education, Lord of the Rings and Romeo and Juliet.

Q. If you could design an outfit for any living person, who would be your dream client and why?
A. I would LOVE to work with Julianne Moore! I love film and greatly admire her choices as an actor; Her ability to adapt from caring mother to drug addict to detective...Oh, it's too much for me! Oh, and her radiat timeless beauty doesn't hurt either.

Q. Who was your favorite designer from Season 1?
A. Kara Saun. Amiss all the chaos and drama that other designers played on for attention, her clothing spoke for itself.

I think he's cute though I didn't really notice him until the lingerie episode. He obviously works well with others and I loved that he got on with his design and solved his issue without any drama or fuss. I think he's a darkhorse for the final 3.

I'm thinking Daniel is setting himself in a great position so far in the show. On the whole I like his designs the best, although I did NOT like the dress from this week. But then again, I didn't really like ANY of the dresses from this week.
