Here we go again on the super exciting race around what used to be limited to the United States. I’m pleased to inform you we are expending our horizons on this episode. As a bonus, I have something to confess. Every team I’ve enjoyed thus far has already been eliminated. I have a new favourite but I won’t say who! I’ll just say that I still love Phil and even more after this episode. Once again, the Bransen family is the first to receive their clue at 12:40 am. The Paolos are right behind one minute later while the Linz boys and girl leave the mat at 12:49 am. Fly 2000 miles to Panama City, Panama. Proceed to drive 31 miles to a Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute where you have to find a scientist named Ricardo Diaz, who will hand you your next clue. One of the Linz boys says he can’t wait to go to Panama to attend Spring Break and see all the 16-year old girls. Say what? That’s just wrong! Megan tells her bro that he’s got the wrong Panama and the cab driver agrees. I am obligated, by the power invested in me, to say that Mr. Linz just made a Linda Weaver out of himself. The Paolos are ecstatic to FINALLY get out of the country. So are we, so are we. Once again, one of the Bransen girls borrows the taxi driver’s cell phone and checks for plane times. The freggin screaming sisters leave the pitstop at 1:39 am and celebrate with another screaaaaam. The Weavers are leaving at 1:52 am and they state that alliances are stupid. Yeah, well, no comment! The super Gaghans leave at 1:54 am and even if they are in last place right now, all they want is to always be in front of another team. Every team makes their way to the airport and is standing in line. One of the Godlewski sisters tells DJ Paolo to be nice to his mom. I bet she’s the bossy one from the other episode! After all is said and ready to fly, here’s how the teams are divided. On the Continental Airlines flight arriving at 6:40 pm are the Linz, Bransen and Paolo families. On the American flight are the Gaghan, Godlewski and Weaver groups. As soon as they step out in Panama, the teams display a “quality” often seen in previous TAR seasons: their undeniable “ability” to speak foreign languages. While Megan Linz thanks her brother for speaking Spanish, one of the Weaver girls uses words such as burrito to tell the taxi where to go. All the teams finally find where they are supposed to go next but it doesn’t open until morning. They all sleep in some small building and decide to keep the order in which they arrived. The Paolos were first so they get to leave with the first boat. Some families are lucky enough to have a fast boat and a good driver, but not the Gaghans. Their driver wants to go pick up other passengers! This is hilarious! The teams arrive to the Research Centre and they must find Ricardo Diaz. There are many scientists sitting around in hammocks. Yes, we all know scientists lay around all day and wait for tourists to ask for a yellow envelope. The Godlewskis find Ricardo the lazy scientist first and they receive their next clue, which indicates a detour is coming! Choose between Rhythm and Coos. In Rhythm, the teams must board el Diablo Rojo (also known as the Red Devil Bus) and search in various locations for 4 musical intruments; a trumpet, a trombone, a saxophone and a conga drum. You must deliver these instruments to the club Take 5 where you’ll receive your next clue. In Coos, you also take el Diablo Rojo and go to this park. Find five replicas of local birds and then circle the correct ones of a chart. Present them to the bird expert who looks just as much as a bird expert as the hammock scientists. The sisters decide to do the Rhythm detour while the Paolos open their clue. Surprisingly, there’s a Fast Forward available! What’s even more flabbergasting is that they choose to do it. They must go to Pier 14 and go do some serious tandem bungee jumping! I love this. We return to the other teams and the Evil Weavers (yes, I know they’re not evil but you must admit there’s something off about them) decide to do the Coos and the Bransens do as well. The Linz crew decides to join the Sisters and what will the Gaghans, the LAST team to get Ricardo’s clue decide? They decide to go to the Fast Forward, basing their logic on the fact that the Paolo’s may bail out. Fools! How dare they underestimate the power of the New Yorkers? Like I always say, the Gaghans have super-strength but they are missing brain logic. They all take their boats back to the city and Mom Weaver tells the Linz driver to go slow. *Shakes fist at television screen* The Desperate Housewives and Linz Jocks decide to not only do their detour while helping each other out, they start an alliance against the Weavers (well, especially the mom.) Going back to the FF, DJ is scared of heights and Mama Paolo is having a blast making fun of him for it. I love them. There. I’ve said it. The Gaghans are second in line and I think it’s a bad idea to wait for a FF. Just ask Rob and Amber. Daddy Paolo and Brian are the first to jump and to the Gaghans’ grand displeasure, Mama and DJ do it right after! The Gaghans are now obligated to choose one of the detours and they go with Rhythm. Meanwhile, the Paolos can go straight to this leg’s Pitstop. They go see Phil and he receives his obligatory Papa Paolo hug, and they win a trip toooo….Panama! Wow, ok, how predictable. All the teams have trouble getting to their locations by Diablo Rojo. Some pay taxis to drive in front of the bus while some bring on shady passengers to help. While it may have been a good idea in the past, the lady the Bransen family took in just wanted a ride to go to work! All the teams eventually finish their tasks and they receive this clue. It’s time for a roadblock! Go to a baseball stadium where you’ll have to get a base hit or a homerun (I’ll take the base hit for one million, Alex.) You have three chances to get it or you have to go back at the end of the line. The first ones there are the Weaver family and Rolly is the lucky batter for the day. He misses out on his first three tries but eventually gets a hit when the pitcher failed to catch his slowly running hit. Beth is up to the plate for the Bransens while Nick does the same for the Linz. They all succeed without too much trouble. The Godlewskis choose Sharon to bat because she has played baseball before. While she tries and tries again, Bill Gaghan arrives and hits it far, far away. Sharon does eventually hit it and it’s a race between these two teams to the pitstop. The Weavers are second to see Phil and Rolly, as usual, is a class act. Is he in the right family? Wally and his girls are in third place while the Linz’ are close behind in fourth. Meanwhile, the Godlewskis and Gaghans are having problems getting to the pitstop. Sure that they are getting eliminated, but not certain that it’s an elimination leg, the sisters put on as much clothes as possible. That’s a freggin good idea. The Gaghans don’t even think about doing the same thing and they fortunately finish in fifth place. The Sister arrive at the pitstop to see the Philiminator and they are looking quite ridiculous. He tells them they are the last team to arrive but it’s a non-elimination leg. They must hand out their backpack and possessions, everything except the clothes on their back (and head!) and passports. Phil asks them if they knew it was illegal to wear underpants on top of pants on top of underpants. Hehehe. This man is just wonderful. Well that’s all for this week folks! Next time, the Weavers get stuck and Linda whines plus, according to the TAR website, there’s the ever-wonderful Yield! |
