If like me you thought this season lacked excitement you’re in for a treat with this episode. If it’s a crazy time you’re after well you’ve come to the right recap! I feel a bit insane in the membrane after watching the show. As tradition wants it, the first team to arrive last episode is also the first to leave on the next leg. The Weaver family finished their task at 2:26 pm so they are departing at 2:26 am. Fly about 500 miles (dadalat-daa!) to the town of Charleston, North Carolina. Choose a car and drive yourselves to the Battery, where you’ll have to find a Gazebo. Megan and her macho Linz siblings’ time is at 2:27 am while the Screaming Sisters leave at 2:29 am. Sharon Godlewski says they haven’t established who the leader is…yet. The Schroeder’s leave at 2:38 am and Char tells the viewing audience that she’s happy the kids consider her as a friend and not the evil stepmom. Cue to a scene in the car where Hunter tells us he doesn’t know his history and Char tells him to focus. What follows is a gigantic alert of teenage rebellion, with a well-placed and acted “what-ever!” complete with eye-roll. The Aiello’s, also known as team Boston, are leaving at 2:37 am while the Bransen’s are at 2:38 am. Let’s hope Wally can keep up this week. The Gaghan’s are departing at 2:43 am and we hear mama Gaghan say that she and her husband have tried to treat the kids as little adults rather than children. Am I the only one who sees this as completely wrong? The little girl is 9 years old! Anyway, since pretty much all the teams are on the road, let’s take a look at what’s happening. The Linz boys are having a little fun while they are stuck on the road behind a wide load. As in a big truck. One of the guys says that he hates wide loads. I’m glad this one probably got over the heads of the young ones watching the show! One of the Bransen girls as well as Mom Gaghan, use a famous and sometimes rewarding TAR strategy of borrowing the driver’s cell phone and call the airport to learn about flight times. Finally, the Paolo family is leaving at a time of 3:05 am. Meanwhile, the Weavers who were first to leave realize they missed the exit to the airport and proceed to go on reverse on the Interstate. Right, that’s a good idea! The Linz’s see this and start laughing. At the airport, there’s a choice between three flights. The first one is on Independence airlines. It leaves at 8:15 am and arrives at 10:04 am. The other one is with US Airways and it arrives just a bit after. The other flight is just for one team and I’ll let you guess which one it is. The Weavers are not very popular among the other teams. One of the Aiello guys asks them if they found another flight and he gets the silent treatment. Char Schroeder says that Florida, aka the Weavers, are silent but deadly (SBD) mmm… where have I heard that saying before? * While the old people are worried about stupid stuff, Rolly Weaver and Hunter Schroeder are having fun being young. For some unknown reason, Char tells Hunter to get away from Rolly and then she tells Mark she told Hunter to shut his pie hole! Hunter then whispers to Rolly, and I quote, “she’s a bitch.” My goodness, are you sure he’s your friend Char? On the first flight, we find the following teams: Linz, Weaver, Schroeder, Godlewski and Aiello. While these families are on a plane, the Paolo family is, as always, fighting! Youngest son Brian states that his family has many mood swings. Right you are, sport. The teams on the first flight all find their marked vehicles and find the gazebo. While driving, one of the Linz boys says that they are following team Fruit Loop, now talking about the Weaver family. Hilarious, as it’s a sign of things to come. The second flight, carrying the Gaghan and Bransen family lands and we learn about the detour for this episode. Forrest Gump: You must find Wando Shrimp where you’ll have to de-head 200 pounds( 2 crates) of shrimps! Muddy Waters: Drive 37 miles where you have to find the Ridgeville Mud Run and drive a 4X4 through a mud bar. The Linz and Schroeder families both arrive fast at the gazebo and choose the shrimp task. The Weavers decide to try the 4X4 and it proves to be a very bad idea. The Aiello family also decides to try defying the mud and nearly succeed on their first try. The Bransen’s, Godlewski’s and Paolo’s all decide to do shrimp and succeed without too much trouble. Back at the 4x4 mud task, Linda Weaver is having a lot of trouble and tells her kids they are changing roadblocks. Risky move but they ARE team Fruit Loop after all. Everyone is really having fun, especially the Aiello’s, even if they get stuck more times than the number of fingers I possess. The Gaghan’s, renamed Team Rugrats, also do the mud task and achieve success on their first try. As I said before, they kick all kinds of booty on physical tasks but they definitely lack something. After the teams complete their respective detours, they must make their way either by foot or by driving to the Charleston visitor centre where they’ll have to sign up for one of two charter buses. One is leaving at 3 pm and the other at 5 pm. First come first served as the Schroeder’s, Linz, Godlewski’s and Bransen’s all take places on the 8 hour bus ride to a mystery location. The Aiellos are STILL at the detour after their 13th try when they decide to change drivers. Maybe it’s editing or sheer stupidity but on their 14th try the Boston Boys finally complete it. The second bus is seating the Aiello, Gaghan, Paolo and Weaver families. Bill Gaghan shouts that they’re all in last place. Rejoice! We learn that the mystery location is in fact in sweet home Alabama at the US Space and Rocket Centre. When they eventually get there, the teams must drive and find the Edward O. Buckbee hangar where they’ll find their next clue. We stick with the people from the first bus as they open their clue. Ride a centrifuge machine until it reaches 3.2 g’s (G Force) Two people will perform this roadblock! In probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in television history, Phil, the host with the most, actually tells us the rules of the roadblock while riding in the machine! You rock! (Yes, I do realize he will never read this, leave me alone!) The Bransen family is up first to do the roadblock and Beth and Lindsay are the ones chosen. Meanwhile, the Godlewski annoying sisters are arguing because one of them said that a hangar *is* a plane. And I thought that Pennsylvania thing was bad. Moving on, the Linz boys, Alex and Tommy, are next in the machine. I think it was Tommy who informed his brother that he had to fart. Dude, I dunno, like, a simple fart is bad enough but one in a gravity machine? I don’t even want to think about the consequences. * SBD. After the complete the roadblock, the teams receive their next clue. Walk to the Rocket Park and find the Saturn five. Then, enter the space museum, find the little neat-o computers sponsored by AOL and read Phil’s kick-ass virtual clue. The virtual Phil tells the teams to race on foot to the Space Shuttle Pathfinder where they will win their next pit stop. That thing is rigged for little Carissa! The Bransen family is the first to arrive to the pit stop and this week again, there’s a fabulous prize. All licensed drivers receive free gas for life! From BP or Arco stations that is. Sweet! I’m pretty sure all four of them drive. Maybe the owners would’ve liked the Gaghans to win this leg. While one team is with Phil, four others are still riding the bus. Now, I’m sure pretty much everyone has made a long trip in their lifetime either in a car or a bus. Well, you actually…eventually…sanely find ways to entertain yourself, correct? The Weaver family (always minus Rolly, I swear this kid is in the wrong team) just lose it. They’ve gone loco, they just snapped. As much as I would like to make fun of them, it was a scary sight. Every single racer is getting annoyed with them until they stop at some kind of waffle house. We hear one of the two girls crying to her mom that she can’t take it anymore. Linda, instead of doing what probably any other mom would do, tells her to act like nothing’s bothering her. They all get out in the parking lot and start dancing and acting as if they’ve completely gone off the deep end. We are then treated to a clip from the Paolo family telling us the Weavers have gone mad. Ha! The Paolo’s thinking another team’s crazy? I love television. We’re back with Phil and of course the Linz family finished in second place. These guys are really funny and I hope they go far. I also noticed that one of the boys, don’t ask me his name, really looks like Reichen from TAR 4 fame. Foreshadowing looks? Only time will tell. Some other people have their fun with the centrifuge, such as Stassi and Mark Schroeder and Michelle and Christine Godlewski. The second bus finally releases its prisoners (I know I sound weird, but I’m just speaking Weaver) and team Fruit Loop throw themselves on the clue box. Rebecca and Rolly Weaver do the roadblock for their family while Brian and Tony Paolo, Billy and Bill Gaghan and David and Matt not really Aiello do the same. From this point on, the standings are as follows. Wally and his girls are first, the Linz siblings are second, the Schroeders and the friend of the kids Char are third, the screaming “a hangar is a plane” Godlewski sisters are fourth and the unstable but efficient Weavers are in fifth. The Gaghan’s, Paolo’s and Aiello’s complete the centrifuge and all get lost in some way or the other on the way to the space centre. Editing tries to trick us until the very end, where we see the Paolo’s finishing in sixth place. Tony gives Phil a big hug while Marion screams at Phil not to touch him because of his shrimp experience. The Gaghans finish in seventh place and that means the Boston boys are going home. I’m really sad to see them go but at least they seemed to have fun in this leg with all the mud. Would you have gone on a race with one of your in-laws? Next week I’m not sure I want to watch. According to the previews, there’s going to be a task at a racetrack. It’s not like the Weaver family is messed up enough already! Also in bonus, a crying and screaming Godlewski sister. Not that it’s anything new. Enjoy! |

I share the same feelings with Boo. I thought that this episode, Episode 3, was much better than the previous episode. It seems like some catfights and family conflicts are beginning to fire off, and in the reality world and in a sick person kinda way, it is good TV! In fact, the next episode looks interesting too! Looking forward to it. |
