Well?

Tonight, The Stage is the Ladies’ Home... But Will Simon Want To Be Anyone’s Microphone?

We’re starting the next episode of American Idol. Ryan, in all of his shortness, does his usual speech, and we get started with the singers.

God Bless The Child That Thinks That Celena Rae Isn’t Boring

First singer is Aloha Mischeaux. Last week, she ‘Worked It Out’. Will she do the same this week?
Bored says: Hmm... well, some of it was OK, but the problem with the performance was that it showed her weak points instead of her strong points. We really had an opportunity to see that, when she switched into her head voice, it wasn’t really all that connected and it wasn’t strong at all. Parts of it were rather good, but there were enough weak points to bring down the final product. Still, she was nowhere near the worst of the night...
Randy says: That wasn’t your best performance for him, but it was too stylized.
Paula says: Agrees with Randy
Simon says: Didn’t give her a chance to show any personality, and not as good as last week.

Next up is Lindsey Cardinale. She comes from a small town. Does that mean that she’s good?
Bored says: It was... a very interesting performance. It kind of reminded me about Judd’s, but it was a little bit more funky and a lot less Elvis impersonating. It was fun, that’s for sure, but I hope that she doesn’t go the way of the Judd...
Randy says: It was good, better than last week. It was a fun performance, but stretch a little more vocally.
Paula says: Same as Randy, but also loved the versatility.
Simon says: He doesn’t know what to say... but he’ll say something anyways. He didn’t like the song, and he predicts that she’ll be gone within two weeks. Not very nice, Simon... not nice at all But probably true.

Jessica Sierra is up next. She says she’s a country girl. Does this mean that’s going to do an overly country song?
Bored says: At first, I was pretty sure that my hypothesis above was right, and I was a little put off by it... but it got pretty good near the end. However, for some reason, she reminds me of an older Diana DiGarmo. So that causes me to take points off of the final product.
Randy says: That was much better than last week, showed off her big voice.
Paula says: Fused herself in her song, and made it her own. I actually typed the part about ‘made it her own’ before I heard her say it, but Paula seems to like that phrase. A lot.
Simon says: Without question the best vocal female performance we’ve had so far.

Mikalah Gordon is the next singer. She reasons that she wants to be famous because she’s horrible at cooking and cleaning. Will she be good?
Bored says: Well... I was surprised at her song choice. It seemed a little bit too... old for her. However, she pulled it off rather well... not as good as her performance last week, but it was still pretty good.
Randy says: Lots of ambition, so mad props.
Paula says: You nailed it, you nailed it, you nailed it.
Simon says: It was just a joy to watch and listen to.

Celena Rae is the next performer. She wants to have hand-made clothes. How will she do?
Bored says: Well, it was an OK performance. About 100% better than last week, but that’s not saying anything at all. Still started off low in the start, but I think that it’s because the sound people have it in for her. The best thing about the performance was that the audience wasn’t swaying their hands from side-to-side. That was very, very good...
Randy says: It was just ai’ight.
Paula says: She hasn’t clicked with any of her song choices yet.
Simon says: There’s a very thin line between being a pop-star and singing in a hotel... and Simon thinks that she’s going to the hotel. A rousing boo springs up from the audience.

Gloria Estefan, The Look of Fear, and Oversinging, Oh My!

Nadia Turner is next. She rocked last week. Will she do well tonight?
Bored says: One of the smoothest performances of the night. It was far, far different than last night, but it was just as good. There were a few slightly odd parts, but on the whole, it was one of the best tonight. If she goes home before the final 12, there will be something wrong...
Randy says: It was good. It wasn’t your best performance, but it was good.
Paula says: Umm... well, Paula says something, but I don’t know what it meant. So I’ll just leave Paula out this time. She says the same thing every time, anyways....
Simon says: The trouble of the song was a little bit cabaret, but she sang the last part very well.

Amanda Avila is up next. Last week, she was all ballad-y. Will she be all ballad-y tonight?
Bored says: It started out as some bad techno. Then, we launched into none other than... GLORIA ESTEFAN! (run and hide the children! Run and hide the children!) However, if I do say so myself, it was quite a good performance. Probably the thing that we needed tonight – I was starting to get sick of ballads and country music. Hopefully the next three songs won’t also be Gloria Estefan...
Randy says: Definitely better than last week, and she showed some range.
Paula says: You raised your game and you did well with the song.
Simon says: He’s not sure that it was all on tune, but it was a great performance.

Janay Castine is the next singer. How will she do tonight?
Bored says: Well, she was much, much better tonight. Not as good as any of the others, but I personally liked it a better than when she was shaking like a bobble-head doll. However, you could still see this look of entire fear in her eyes during her close-ups. And the song choice was a tad atrocious.
Randy says: It wasn’t good.
Paula says: Needs to work on being a little bit better at performing. Mentions that it wasn’t bad.
Simon says: You’re like a little doll that’s being programmed to be a pop-star.

Carrie Underwood sings next. Will she live up to last weeks performance?
Bored says: Quite a good performance. It wasn’t all that bad, in my opinion. The judges didn’t agree with me at all. However, I would note that she didn’t seem quite as comfortable up there... she wasn’t quite as good as she was last week, and she almost looked a little bit nervous.
Randy says: It was just ai’ight.
Paula says: Versatility not too good for you.
Simon says: It was reminiscent of what a local cover band would do... dang, the judges are being harsh tonight...

Vonzell Solomon is up next. She’s last. Will she end up being the best of the night?
Bored says: It was pretty good... there were some rather pitchy places, especially at the end, but it was probably one of the best of the night. Not saying too much, however, as tonight the average lady score was about three points down from their last time around.
Randy says: It was ambitious, but didn’t quite get there.
Paula says: Same as Randy
Simon says: Less is more. Very good advice for Vonzell... tonight, it just felt like she was doing too much.

Bored’s Order:
1. Nadia Turner
2. Jessica Sierra
3. Amanda Avila
4. Carrie Underwood
5. Mikalah Gordon
6. Vonzell Solomon
7. Aloha Mischeaux
8. Lindsey Cardinale
*large, large break*
9. Celena Rae
10. Janay Castine

Who Bored thinks should go home: Celena Rae and Janay Castine. Although Celena has trendy hair and Janay has better fashion sense than Paula, they just don’t have the talent or the following to go much farther.
Who Bored thinks will go home: Celena and Janay, for the same reason I already stated.

Three Axings and a Whaaaa???

In the results show, we say goodbye to Celena Rae first, as she had the least amount of votes. *Sniff* bye, Celena... we shall miss your trendy hair. In a shocker, the final female axing is between Vonzell and Aloha. I must say: Whaa? Sure, they weren’t on top of their game last night, but they weren’t bad enough to go home. Anyways, we must say goodbye to Aloha Mischeaux. Guess that Alicia Keys wasn’t all that nice to her...

On the guys side, Joseph Murena and David Brown get the big ax of doom and gloom. We would shed a tear for both of them, but Joe sounded unbelievably bitter, so we only shed a tear for David. *sniff*

Next week – We cut four more and find out who made it to the final 12! Exciting stuff.

Are you also a doll programmed to be a pop-star? If so, e-mail me at boredsim133@yahoo.com
*Insert saying that I think is funny here*
