Ladies Day to Par-tay

Ryan begins the ‘ladies night’ in the typical fashion. Blah blah blah, six guys, six girls, blah blah blah, you decide, blah blah blah, I think I’m beautiful, blah blah blah. He announces the contestants and the judges, and we’re off.

Heatwaves and Singing Robots

The first lady on stage is Vonzell Solomon. We’ve seen good clips from her before, but will she live up to the hype?
Bored says: She does a pretty good job. Probably the best ‘Heatwave’ we’ve ever heard on this show... but that’s not saying much... her voice is very smooth, and it helps that her outfit matches with the song that she’s singing as far as color goes.
Randy says: fun song choice, a little pitchy, but still good.
Paula says: very good, had fun, and had good vocals.
Simon says: amazing start to the show, and that she has a chance to win the show. Guessing that Simon took prozac after last night...

The next woman performing is Amanda Avila. We know that she’s the one that destroyed Jackie Crum’s chances of going to the semis, but is she as good at singing as she at being edited to look conceited?
Bored says: A decent performance. Kind of blah. She does look nice, though. It’s a very stereotypical ballad performance. Not top 12 material, but rather good.
Randy says: it was a’ight.
Paula says: It was good, it wasn’t your best performance
Simon says: He’s heard that style of performance. But, in his second life, he wants to come back as her... microphone. Her microphone? Wow, Simon... don’t get too frisky over there...

Janay Castine is our next singer. We know she has overprotective parents, but can she actually sing?
Bored says: Wow... she kind of looks like she’s as frozen as a robot. She does this strange head-bobbing technique. It’s not that bad of a vocal performance, although it is pretty pitchy, but... dang, she looks like she’s having a heart attack.
Randy says: A very rangy song, not her best performance, and it looked like she was a little nervous
Paula says: the song choice was not good, and she likes her better when she’s young.
Simon says: The song choice was not young and happening, and she’s not 50. 50? Wow, Simon’s a little off with his insults.

Carrie Underwood is up next. She’s a country singer. Will she suck like Josh Gracin?
Bored says: She really doesn’t suck. Finally, a country-ish person that’s very good. She’s got the whole ballad thing down pretty nicely. Her voice sounds very good. Her dress is a little weird with the pink fringes, but that’s OK. I just hope that she won’t do ballads every week, as that would get pretty darned boring after a while.
Randy says: She’s a breath of fresh air. Absolutely brilliant
Paula says: Wonderful, simply wonderful.
Simon says: One of the favorites to win the competitions. Also says that she has a presence. We wonder if he would also like to be her microphone, perhaps in his third life. But that isn’t exactly of importance. Moving on...

A Personality Amidst the Boringness

Sarah Mather is the next performer. I don’t exactly remember her, but she does have defined cheekbones. Does that mean she’s good?
Bored says: It’s a fun performance. It’s slightly boring, but it’s rather technically sound. Not the best so far, but definitely not the worst either. Maybe one bad note or two, but that’s about it.
Randy says: Very fun song choice, but her voice has been better.
Paula says: Not good song choice because the song was not good for lead vocals.
Simon says: It was a bad first impression for the audience to have. I’ve got to agree with him there... it was kind of ergvsh.

Melinda Lira is next up. I don’t know anything about her, either, but her dress in the promos was atrocious. Will that equal a bad performance?
Bored says: Well, it was kinda... meh. Rather forgettable. Her voice sounded good, but it didn’t have that much of a spark. However, her dress is much better than that awful white thingy that she wore in her promo pictures.
Randy says: One of the best singers in the competitions, and one of the strongest singers.
Paula says: A little pitchy, but a very strong performance.
Simon says: She needs a role model? He’s seen that kind of performance on other shows? I really don’t know what Simon was trying to say. He’s making less sense than Leroy Wells. And I still don’t think he’s crunk, either.

When we get back from the break, we listen to Nadia Turner. We’ve heard her sing well before, but is her talent really as big as her hair?
Bored says: Woooooaaaahhhh. I really wasn’t expecting this kind of performance from her. It was more rock-ish than Constantine’s yesterday, although that isn’t saying that much. Her vocals are good, her stage presence is sky-rocketing, and it’s a very fun performance.
Randy says: She’s standing true to who she is, and that it was excellent.
Paula says: She had no idea that Nadia had that in her.
Simon says: She is the antidote to karaoke hell, and that she’s original and here to win. Luckily, nothing about coming back in a fourth life and being her microphone was mentioned.

Celena Rae is up now. The only thing I know about her is that she dropped her last name for no apparent reason. Can she perform?
Bored says: Well, there are many things wrong with this performance. First off, her microphone wasn’t working that well in the beginning, and her voice was kind of... I dunno... not that wonderful. However, she does look pretty good. And her hair looks rather trendy. That’s always good.
Randy says: A bit safe, and a little bit boring.
Paula says: The song selection was a little bit off, and... she kinda stopped there.
Simon says: wasn’t original at all, especially following Nadia. Also mentions that she could do better.

Ms. Personality and Wow, You Can Actually Work It Out.

The next singer we see is Mikalah Gordon. She’s got a big personality, but is her voice as big?
Bored says: She’s oozing personality during her performance. Her vocals aren’t the best, but she’s pretty mesmerizing on stage. She needs to work on dancing in a dress, though... that was a tad weird.
Randy says: Personality, personality, personality. He enjoyed her.
Paula says: ‘You were just you’. Also mentions that it was a very good performance. I’m still trying to figure who else Mikalah would be... maybe she’s a shape-shifter, and only Paula knows. Or something like that.
Simon says: Half of the audience will love you, and the other half will find you very annoying.

Lindsey Cardinale is up next. How will she do tonight?
Bored says: Well, she’s got the ‘cover face with microphone’ technique down pat. It’s a rather boring performance, especially since it seems like she’s a little bit more interesting than her performance may suggest. However, it’ll probably get her through to the next round.
Randy says: He thinks she’s a better singer than that.
Paula says: Her voice has got a deep, rich, sexy tone to her voice. However, the song didn’t show that off.
Simon says: She’s a very good singer, but her song choice didn’t show that at all.

Jessica Sierra is the next performer. We don’t know anything about her. Is she a good singer?
Bored says: Yet another safe performance. It was good, and you can tell that she’s got a very good voice, but the song choice was just rather.... bleh. However, her vocals were rather strong.
Randy says: He likes her husky tone, and thought it was very good performance
Paula says: Jessica commanded the stage, which is always good
Simon says: Not the best he’s heard Jessica, and that perhaps she was a bit nervous... but otherwise very good.

Aloha Mischeaux ends the show. How will she do?
Bored says: Wow. Wow, wow, wow. It was Definitely one of the top three performances of the night. It was just entirely unexpected. They definitely did the public a disservice by not showing her before now... she really did ‘work it out’.
Randy says: he loved it, loved it, loved it, but don’t get too close to Beyonce
Paula says: A great niche for Aloha, and pick songs like that.
Simon says: Out of the three or four performances he’ll remember, that was one of them. That’s a pretty good assessment of her performance tonight.

And here ends the show. Final rankings? Well, since you asked...

1. Nadia Turner
2. Aloha Mischeaux
3. Carrie Underwood
4. Vonzell Solomon
5. Mikalah Gordon
6. Lindsey Cardinale
7. Amanda Avila
8. Jessica Sierra
9. Sarah Mather
10. Melinda Lira
11. Janay Castine
12. Celena Rae

It’s Results Time!

Now, it’s time for the results show! As the show itself was enough brutal torture for itself and my recap, I will skip all of the details, and get straight to the business...

From the guys, Judd and Jared will be going home.

From the ladies, Sarah Mather and Melinda Lira are out.

All of them are in shock and rather upset when they leave, and to make things worse, they insist on making them just stand up there for, like, 2-3 minutes. It’s insane.

Next week: More Semi-final performances! Who will suck horribly? Hopefully someone will...

Nadia DID have a great performance, but she reminds me too much of Tamyra Gray. She needs to work on a "different" image I think (but that's just little ol' me).

you are not alone lalol, Aloha bugs me too. She has a nice voice, but she was too "Beyonce" to me also. I hope she can shake that and work on making her own unique image.

See, I personally thought that Carrie had the best performance of the night, and Nadia was probably second. I really like Aloha too.

Once again, a great recap, with a great format. Keep it up!
