Mole Me Naked To Dinner

Mole 6/16 Recap

ARTicle by bored

Welcome to the recap for the third episode of the Mole! Last week, Bobby rode in a wheelbarrow and whined for most of the episode, while the feisty Liz was eliminated and everyone acted like she had died. Boo hoo, so sad. Now that that’s over, let’s get on with the show!

As we open, everyone’s still discussing Liz’s elimination Nicole threatening Paul’s life. Of course, both of them are certain that they are right in their convictions about the situation, and both of them still manage to come off looking ridiculous in their confessionals. Way to go, guys. Way to go. However, that drama isn’t the only revelation: it turns out that, for the last two rounds, Bobby, Clay, and Paul have been in a… coalition! Sadly, based off of what happened to the last coalition, I’m afraid that the foreshadowing monster is rearing its head yet again. Surprise!

Finally, we get to our first challenge. The contestants meet on the side of a hill for their first competition of the round, and John greets them and gives them instructions on the mission cleverly (and aptly) entitled Fruit of the Luge. The contestants must split up into teams of two; one who is blindfolded and one who isn’t. The two contestants will then get on a sled that will send them flying down the mountain. As they fly down, the person who isn’t blindfolded will see pictures of different fruits and vegetables, which they will then relay to their partner before they reach the finish line. Once that section of the challenge is done, the blindfolded contestant must accurately remember the fruit and place them in the order that they appeared. For each correct fruit, 2,000 dollars will be added into the pot. First, the teams split up into two teams: the Can’t Trust squad, composed of Clay, Victoria, Alex, Paul, and Alex, and the Trust Blindly players, Nicole, Mark, Ali, Bobby, and Craig. Then they split into teams of two, with Can’t Trust wearing the blindfold and Trust Blindly giving the directions. First up are Bobby and Clay. Bobby, of course, manages to mess up some directions, giving a pear instead of an avocado. Clay also messes up, mixing up the red tomatoes and the yellow bananas, getting the team 10,000. Next is Paul and Ali, who also only mix up two for 10,000. Following them is Craig and Victoria, who have extremely heroic music… until they talk after getting past the finish line. However, they and Mark and Victoria get all of the answers right. Nicole and Alex, however, completely fail, doubling the initial green apple and only getting 2,000 dollars. Once everyone finishes, John begins to congratulate them, but instead gives them bad news; because both Clay and Bobby and Victoria and Craig discussed the fruit after the finish line, neither one of those groups didn’t get any points. Thus, they only get 26,000 dollars, and suspicion abounds. Clay and Mark begin to freak out and decide whether or not to trust Bobby after he messed up the challenge, and effectively cut him out of the coalition without his knowing.

The next day, the players get treated to a… spa treat! Of course, while they’re all getting massages, John steals all of their clothing except their shoes. Once the players discover it, John explains the mission: the players must find their dinner location, and show up fully dressed. The catch is that, since they don’t have any clothes because their clothes are at the dry cleaners, they must ask other people to give them the clothes off of their backs. Clay and Mark suspiciously opt out last second, meaning that only 8 contestants will be participating. They travel in three groups: Ali, Victoria, and Kristen; Bobby, Craig, and Nicole; and Paul and Alex. For each person that gets into the restaurant, 5,000 dollars will be added to the pot. Initially, all three groups experience some humiliation, and at one point Ali, Victoria, and Kristen get followed by a group of pubescent school boys. Luckily for Paul, Alex’s Spanish skills save the day yet again, as they manage to get their clothes relatively quickly. Ali, Victoria, and Kristen also eventually hit a lucky streak, and manage to get their clothes back as well. Which leaves us with the dysfunctional trio of Nicole, Bobby, and Craig. Nicole manages to get an outfit relatively early, but Bobby is only able to find a shirt for most of the time and Craig can only manage pants. However, as time progresses, Bobby gets his outfit, and, in a lucky twist of fate, the three find the dry cleaners where the contestants’ clothes are located and they all change into the their original nice clothes. All eight of the players get to the location, adding 40,000 to the pot; however, some of the contestants are suspicious of Bobby, Craig and Nicole discovering the dry cleaners. Sadly, Mark and Clay aren’t able to eat because they didn’t participate in the challenge.

Finally, it’s time for the elimination dinner. As the players sit down, the conversation begins friendly as they talk about who’s really in the game. Mark is immediately pointed out, and the contestants joke about him obsessing over the journal. Mark begins to get defensive, and naturally Paul takes that opportunity to jump on Mark. Mark eventually calls Paul a mean person, and then Bobby and Craig jump on the “be a nice guy” train. Nicole also joins everyone, and Paul goes on the offensive. Nicole doesn’t take the bait, although in a passive-aggressive way. Paul, of course, is pleased with his performance at dinner, saying that his main goal was to fluster all of the other competitors before the quiz in order to “throw them off their game.”

It’s elimination time! After taking the 10 question quiz, the contestants meet and John spills a surprise: he will be offering a 20,000 dollar bribe in cold, hard cash for the first one who wants it. The taker would then leave the game. At first, nobody takes it. However, after a few people are deemed safe and John raises the bribe to 30,000, Ali decides to take the bribe, saying that she didn’t feel good about her chances. After the contestants freak out and Ali is walked over to the car, John announces that the execution… will continue! Surprise. In the end, moleicious suspect Bobby is eliminated, and Kristen is obviously not too happy by this, so much so that she starts to choke up when reflecting on their friendship. Bobby, of course, still appears to be in shock, and Paul gloats a little bit longer. Gotta love a good two-dimensional personality. Next week: More moley behavior! Awesome.
