It’s Testosterone Tuesday. Last night was ladies night, which Len tells was truly amazing. He feels the gals threw down the gauntlet. Of course we get a recap of all the dances from last evening’s show. We got to see the ladies reactions after their first dance of the season. Everyone except for Josie seemed exhilarated.
Ok, it’s time to bring on the men.
First up are Cameron and Edyta. Cameron is a soap star on ABC’s daytime show “All My Children.” Edyta has been on all five seasons of the show and she’s ready to have a win. Cameron fills us in on the fact that when he was a child he had a leg disability that had him in braces for three years. This could affect some of his movement/flexibility. Upon their first meeting, Edyta is excited because she thinks Cameron is a stub. Cam is still working on the East Coast and has to travel back and forth. There will be lots of midnight to 4 am practices.
lpatrick’s comments: This Foxtrot was smooth. I do have to say that any missteps were forgiven because of that great smile Cameron has. He and Edyta have great chemistry and I see him getting better if he stays in the competition.
LP’s score: 7
Judge’s comments: Len- You remind me of me…tall, good looking, it flowed, then splattered, but overall a good job; Bruno- Arm line good, lost it in the middle, not a Rolls yet but not a Buick either; Carrie Ann- start was weak, but posture was good, you two look fantastic together.
Judge’s score: Carrie Ann- 7 Len- 7 Bruno- 7 = 21/30
Floyd is an all time boxing champ with a 38-0 record. Karina lets us know that she has more dancing titles than any other pro in the competition. She now wants that disco ball. Karina tells that Floyd is full of energy and can be very hyper. At the beginning he found it very difficult and actually wanted to quit the competition. During one practice Karina actually walks out on him.
(Hmmm, we’ve seen this move from her before.) They come back together and get to work.
lpatrick’s comments: This Cha Cha was flirty but a little jerky for me. I could tell he’s really trying and giving it his all. It was decent for a first go.
(However, I still can’t hide my contempt for Karina.) LP’s score: 6
Judge’s comments: Bruno- September Storm, incredible energy, you just need to channel the force; Len- Great potential, well done; Carrie Ann- Fast and furious, watch the finesse.
Judge’s score: Carrie Ann- 6 Len- 6 Bruno- 6 = 18/30
(to which we get Karina’s sour puss face.)Helio is a two-time Indy 500 champion and will dance with last season’s champ Julianne. Helio feels the pressure and wants to give her a back-to-back win. He seems very excited during practice, but feels it’s harder than anything he’s ever done. At one point Julianne is holding her breath because Helio is still racing and has a wreck the night before. His knee gets a little banged up but he won’t blame any missed steps during practice on that.
lpatrick’s comments: Helio has wonderful posture. And I just can’t say enough about how good Julianne’s choreography is for this Foxtrot. That gal can pack a punch as a teacher. I thought it was elegant, sweet and fun.
LP’s score: 9
Judge’s comments: Carrie Ann- Natural, wonderful ease; Bruno- King of Speed is now the King of Charm, chemistry was there for you two; Len- Julianne, you’ve continued where you left off last season, Helio, it was like you were on cruise control.
Judge’s score: Carrie Ann- 8 Len- 9 Bruno- 8 = 25/30
Albert is our “male model” this season. He professes that he is the least known of the “stars.” He thinks he has good rhythm. Anna has been gone for two season of the show and she’s ready to get back. When she first meets Albert she thinks, “wow, this guy is in great shape.” During practice she tells that Albert is the youngest in the competition and it’s noticeable by the way he goofs off. Albert says he’s going to work hard, but he wants to give us the “Zoolander” lip pose for his dance.
lpatrick’s comments: Posture is weak, but who can notice with those hips gyrating. The whole dance was more bump and grind than Cha Cha. I really thought the ladies were going to have to get their dollars out for him. It wasn’t horrible but I would like to see some more “dancing” from this kid.
LP’s score: 6
Judge’s score: Len- All these Len Goodman look-a-likes, it was like watching a strip show; Bruno- Crotch action was going overtime; Carrie Ann- At a complete loss for words and utters something about him being a crowd pleaser.
Judge’s score: Carrie Ann- 7 Len- 7 Bruno- 7 = 21/30
Mark is our resident billionaire who’s got a big mouth and an even bigger ego. He was so amazed that he got the call to be on Dancing. He’s excited because he loves competition. Kym is going to be his partner and she tells that she might look like the sweet blonde but inside she’s a fierce competitor. Before they get started Mark tells that he just had a hip replaced seven weeks ago. He assures Kym that that will not stop him from giving his all during practice. She’s a little concerned about the rod in his leg and continues to ask if he’s ok during practice.
lpatrick’s comments: You could knock me over with a feather. I am shocked and awed by Mark and his dancing abilities during this Foxtrot. He had decent posture and gave this dance his all. He had a great time and it showed.
LP’s score: 7
Judge’s comments: Bruno- Bouncing Bionic Billionaire, you had a good time, technicals need work; Carrie Ann- You’re posture was lacking, but you are more of a showman than I thought…watch that tongue action will you’re dancing; Len- It was somewhere in between disaster and bliss…first class effort.
Judge’s score: Carrie Ann- 7 Len- 7 Bruno- 7 = 21/30
Last up this evening is Mr. Las Vegas, Mr. Wayne Newton. Wayne started performing at the age of three and moved to Las Vegas when he was fifteen. He will be partnered with two-time winner Cheryl. Wayne is extremely nervous, something he says he’s never been. He tells that he has a black belt in karate and nothing has ever taken as much energy as learning this Cha Cha. Cheryl continues to ask if he needs a break during practice. Wayne lets us know that he’s terrified.
lpatrick’s comments: The man is an entertainer. I was a little surprised that he didn’t play it up a little more. Also he was doing more walking than dancing.
(Ok, don’t start throwing things at me… I know he’s a little more mature that the rest of these studs.) I think he did give it his all and it was nice to see him having a good time.
LP’s score: 6
Judge’s comments: Carrie Ann- It’s an honor, you are so charming. Open those hips up more; Len- I’ve had more fun tonight, you showed some great basic moves; Bruno- Sizzler from Sin City, gotta get hips going, hope you stay for a long time.
Judge’s score: Carrie Ann- 6 Len- 7 Bruno- 6 = 19/30
