Anyone else psyched for the second season of HGTV's Design Star...it takes place in Las Vegas. I think it should be interesting because the decor in Vegas is outlandish and very extravagant (which is a good thing haha) For the premiere (Sun July 22nd @ 10) they are showing some audition tapes, and those weirdos that think they have a chance. I love those, I never watched a competition of AI, but I loved their auditions haha. I'm so excited it's starting. I couldn't help but notice (cuz I'm an HGTV junky) that Alice (last year's runner-up) is getting her own show too. :yay: I wasn't crazy about her personality or her final design, but she had some really great designs and ideas along the way.

Funnygirl did u check out the premiere ? I thought it was hilarious ! Felt sorry for the girl who messed up and almost quit, forgot her name. But i'm loving Lisa and Kim. How about you ?

I loved it!!! It's going to be a fab-u-lous season! There was some question marks for me as far as design goes, but the personalities are going to be FUN!!!

The guy who designs like he's wearing Liberaci's underpants is hysterical.

LOL i had forgetten about him, thats exactly what i thought about him. Yeah designwise i think they have to make it more interesting which i think they will, but as far as characters there's a hanfull of them. Who do you think has potential to take it ? I thought Adriana (Little cute Latino) had some serious potenitial.

I liked her and the gal with the two-tone pixie-like haircut and glasses. :nerd:

Not too many of the guys stood out for me design-wise. There were quite a few impressions made though. :laugh

Did anybody else watch? How the heck did that elimination happen? I wish we could have heard more of their decision making. Of the five people that did the least/worst/tasteless projects their decision was bad. :(

I actually like this show...of course I like all the design shows...so I'm not surprised...not like the whole "Sparkle" Josh thing though...I don't think he did good!

He was better than the gal that went home last night, but not the guy. :( He is an interesting character.

Yes, I agree...however, the other guys set his fate with all that "stuff" in there...I knew as soon as they showed his room that he was a goner...it was just too much for that small of a space! :)

I thought the first time they did it was because they started with 11 this season, but this is just rediculous. Why do they need to shorten it?

This week really bothered me. Did they really have to get the couple with the worst taste in all of Las Vegas? I mean, I know they had to give them a real challenge and everything, but that reception was freakin' hideous!

I understood their decision to eliminate Josh. He really hasn't proven himself, even though I liked him personally. For me, Kim should go next. Her designs are fine, but she just doesn't stand out in any way for me. My favorite is Todd (of course it helps that he's a hottie!), because I think that he has the best tv personality AND great design skills.

OMG, all that was missing was an Elvis impersonator presiding over the ceremony

I agree about the bizarreness of the choices, however, I wouldn't have liked it nearly as much if they would have wanted something more like Christina's (the girl that left) design. BORING! Don't get me wrong, I"m a traditional girl, but when I'm watching my HGTV, I love to see how they combine weird tastes.

The look on the one girl judge's face (the one from Elle) when she noted the boas on the back of the chair was absolutley priceless. :laugh

I don't know about Todd winning. What's his style? Granted he can do great flips and tricks and appears to be fun, but he also appears to be very full of himself. I think Vern had a great idea when he asked him whether or not he could do mainstream/functional design after the individual challenge.

Let's just see what happens now taht there is nobody to hide behind. :laugh

I was really glad to see Kim shine in the hosting aspect tonight and really surprised to see how badly Will did - he would never hold my attention! I definitely think that the right person was sent home. Robb proved over and over again how difficult he is to work with - I think that he forgot that he wasn't just in a competition, he was applying for a job.

I actually preferred Kim over everyone else in this challenge. She definitely knows what she's talking about and I agreed with Vern when he said he could relate to her. ;) I'm glad that Robb is gone and think he should have been gone before the first Josh. What a tool! Nobody will work for somebody with that kind of attitude. I was happy to see him shed a few tears in the end. It helped me to realize that he was actually flawed!

so i couldn't find any better place to put this, but i think this would be the best place, right?

well, onto to the key points.

i gotta admit, i was kinda bummed that Will is no longer in the competition, but equally, i'm just as happy that it's between Todd and Kim-- they both obviously know what they're doing.

so the finale is going to be in Hawaii, i wonder what kind of tricks the producers have up their sleeves. i guess i'll just have to find out like everyone else does this sunday @ 9pm.

so out the two finalists, who are you going to vote for? i'm going with Todd, and this is why:



i was checking out the Design Star website, and i looked at both their previous work. and that one Todd did really jumps out at me. what do you think?

I think there is already a thread in here somewhere for Design Star. Maybe someone can merge this into that thread?

As much as I like Todd's funky, colorful and innovative ideas, I think Kim's a much better designer. At least this year it's close. :D

so as you all know, i've voted for Todd. seems like everyone is a big fan of Kim here though, which i also love.

i gotta say, i was seriously torn in my decision, but i can't help myself, i have to go for the cute blond (don't hate me), c'mon ladies, we've all been there, lol.

but yeah, as funnygirl said, we get to vote now-- until wednesday (read: tomorrow) that is! you can vote @ HGTV, but you better hurry up, because like i said, you can only vote until wednesday!

we'll get to find out the results-- and winner --come this Sunday @ 9pm. i'm so there, i can't wait. i'm crossing my fingers for Todd!

I gave my vote to Kim. I thought her design was much better executed and soothing for a vacation hideaway. Not only that but we already have Davd, we need a new fresh female face at HGTV. Clive needs a fresh flirt in the mix. :giggle:
