Title: Weakness is Set Adrift
Description: Episode 6

I apologize for not posting a recap for last week, but my oldest graduated this year and the festivities happened last weekend. For those of who don't know, Sean was cut adrift last week.

We get to see the reaction to the pirates after Sean’s elimination. The pirates discuss how tough a decision that was and they all comment to Nessa about how she “needs to get her money back”. The captain and his crew take off to the captain’s quarters to everyone’s notice and discuss how their plan worked out. Jay tells us the plan is to leave he, Az and Ben (the “Triad”)as the three at the top and they can’t be beat. They can ride this wave to the end on the strength of Azmyth’s personality. Outside the cabin, the women and JD discuss the idea of three women in power. The girls are aware of what’s going on and know they need to step up and take over.

The next morning everyone is up getting the ship ready to sail…everyone but the captain that is. JoeDon inquires as to the captain’s whereabouts. Az gets up in his own sweet time and heads to the upper deck giving us a nice shot of his az-crack. :laugh He heads into the mess to apologize to Laurel. Laurel isn’t buying any of his crap and clearly doesn’t care for him. She even refers to him as a “Superfreak in a Blue Coat” which I believe is the follow-up to Rick James’ original Superfreak. :nerd Before leaving Capt. Az tells Laurel he’s glad he apologized and he feels better about himself now.

With that mess out of the way, it’s time for our next treasure hunt. Cameron is back on deck and tells them they have found $165,000. Capt. Az opens the next box and reveals this treasure was hidden by the boson. The teams are:

Azmyth, Jay, Ben, Joy, Christa, Laurel

Red team: JD, Louie, Kendra, Nessa, Jupiter

The teams have to start this expedition with a swim to land, both teams have anchors which include Joy for black and Kendra for red. Red makes the shore first. JD offers her the end of the flag and he pulls her to shore giving them a 15 second lead. The teams get to the ruins at the same time but the black team finds their next clue immediately. They figure they would give Joy the map and make her run in front so she could set up the pace. Unfortunately, the ladder is heavy and awkward and it’s all uphill. The black crew does what they can to get Joy in the front and Joy asks if she can stop and get water. :O

The next clue is found in a clearing where a longboat was waiting. The clue was written under the seats. The clue tells them to continue into the jungle where they will find a tree where a key is hanging and their next clue. By the time they find the correct tree the two teams are neck in neck. For some reason, Louie finds himself as an integral part of the challenge and Nessa tells us that he wouldn’t have bee her first pick, but does she say anything to him? No, she just whines to us.

The black crew recovers the key quickly while Louie is still digging into the tree. He hasn’t yet figured out that it’s actually hanging 2 feet below where he’s actually looking. :no

The black crew takes off to the footbridge which is their next obstacle and will look for clues on the steps of the rope bridge. I’m waiting for the sabotage point, but it’s not here. No sabotage tonight. Without the heavy ladder, the black crew takes a bigger lead. Over on black Christa tells Joy that if she doesn’t move it she’ll get a black spot. That puts a fire under her. Once at the rope bridge they find random words on the steps which they had to decode to find out where the treasure. Red crew just arrives at the footbridge as the black team gets to the final clue.

The black team finds the treasure well before the red team completed the bridge task. The haul is $40,000 and the red crew is demoralized and the only thing they have to look forward to is Nessa has the Pardon and has to sell it to the highest bidder.

The captain and his officers go to their cabin to divvy up the dough and this time they are going to do it a little different. Instead of everyone getting an equal cut, Azmyth decides that 60/40 split is fair. Jay tells Joy they changed it up and they were getting a little more this time because “they earned it”. Joy gives him the “what the hell you talkin’ ‘bout Willis” look but keeps her mouth shut. She tells us that once Azmyth complained about JoeDon taking the bulk of the money. Laurel comes in and Jay tries to convince her with “you’ve been on the winning team with the biggest haul twice now” and she tells them it’s sketchy. She doesn’t trust them and she lets them know it.

Once the money has been distributed, they have to discuss the black spots. Kendra and Joy’s names are brought up immediately. They are both slow and they want to get rid of the weaker players. JoeDon because he’s a boy and expendable to them. Then there is talk of the pardon and who may be bidding.

Now we get to see the start of the romance between JD and Nessa. puke There’s no room for romance on a pirate ship!

We get to see the handing out of the black spots. It’s not dramatic as it could be because we know who is getting the black spot. Azmyth is waxing poetically about everybody’s love for him as the captain and doesn’t think he’s in any danger. Joy is freaking out because she didn’t put a bid on the pardon because she didn’t think she was in danger. Kendra was clearly unhappy about her black spot and JD holds his up. He brings up the possibility of a mutiny, but he knows the officers aren’t going to vote for their captain.

Joy asks JD if he bid, and he asks the group (Nessa, Jupiter, Kendra, Joy and Louie) if he should have to bid. He claims it’s because he works his butt off at the challenges he should feel safe, but he’s thinking that leaving the girls alone with Louie, the “dream team” will pick them off one by one…and he’s right.

Meanwhile, is working on Nessa to get rid of Joy. Unfortunately, Jay tells her that the captain said “tell Nessa to vote for Joy or we’ll black spot her”. Nessa tells us that she’s not a sheep and she doesn’t like to be told what to do. Jupiter on the other hand tries to convince Joy that she’s safe.

Kendra is still fighting in her own way. She’s using the “which one of us would you rather have on the next expedition” method. Nessa tells Louie that Joy has more charisma so she doesn’t think she’ll go. :? Louie goes into football analogies and leaves us with these brilliant words of wisdom: The importance of pleading your case is very important”. :oooo

Pirate’s Court

The crew lines up for Pirates Court and Capt. Az gets to tell his three nominees why they are standing as marked. He basically tells Joy and Kendra they are weak at challenges and that’s why they are there. JD is told he’s a huge threat.

Joy: Understands that she may be weak in their eyes, but she never gives up and she’s doing the best that she can do. Do what’s in your heart. Christa tells the crew that she’s not a strong player.

Kendra: Out of 6, I’ve been on 4 winning crews. Her lack of performance is not the reason for losing. She wants to keep up. Jupiter doesn’t help the situation.

JD: I am a threat, I’m a serious threat. I’m gonna for ya man, you keep looking over your shoulder, I’m gonna pass you. I think it’s going to be tough if I’m gone to leave it all on Louie.

Louie is still confused as to how he’s voting, but he’s out of time.

Before the votes are counted we learn the highest bidder is JD with $12,000. Oddly enough, the second highest bid was $700. :S He didn’t need it because there were no bids for him. Leaving us tonight is Joy. She seems to be okay about it. Probably because she should have gone the first episode and every one since then.

Next week Capt. Az decides he’s going to overwork JD and Louie before the next challenge. How evil is THAT?!
