Aye, be you excited about tonight's Pirate Master premiar? Ahoy, talk about it right har, gar!

dfleminator - June 1, 2007 02:18 PM (GMT)
I have to say I was really excited to see this, but then I got distracted on my laptop during the show, so I didn't get much from it... All I know is the compass stealer is a moron, who deserved to get the boot, although that was a gutsy move I must say.

Did anyone else watch?

funnygirl - June 1, 2007 02:30 PM (GMT)
You KNOW I did and I KNOW Chairo did. I LOVED it and I'm diligently working on getting my maiden recap out ASAP. ;)

dfleminator - June 1, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
Aye, me be excited for your maiden 'oyage on the good ship Pirate Master Gar.

chairo - June 1, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
Well Dflem I don't agree with you about John (?) deserving to be booted. He really did win the treasure for them ... he is sort of nerdy but he had a great analytical mind and seemed to be the only one who didn't panic and make dumb moves. I was so hoping for a mutiny. I liked JD till he made captain. He'd have done much better to treat his fellow pirates with a little respect than to treat them like servants.

How long are these people going to do all the work and let the captain take half of the booty and his chosen two half of the other half? As captain he could have done well to take maybe a quarter and then split the rest equally. AND acknowledging John deserved a cut for finding the treasure for the team would have given others more incentive to help him get richer too.

I thought it was priceless when Mr Nerd hung onto the compasses and asked JD where North was and God looked down and covered the stars making JD clueless. I think letting the compasses go was a huge mistake. I would have let Joy go first.

Of course, as usual these are just my opinions and I know others have differing points of view which I am waiting to hear/read

I do love the ship they are on and the location is a dream. This show has a lot of potential.

Hurry Funnygirl, I want to see what you have to say.

Like I said, the only part of the show that I really paid attention to was the end, and I wouldn't have gone for the compass-stealing fiasco. That being said, it was a bold move.

Ooh, it's deja vu' with you chairo. :laugh It's like Survivor never ended. John was a tool and took way too much credit for a "team" challenge. If you go to the CBS website and check out the bonus footage, you will see that JD's speech to the three black-marked pirates was a lot longer than what made the air. He basically called him out for not being a team player and totally let Louie and Joy off the hook.

It was also clear by the look on the crew's faces that they weren't down with John either. He said in his farewell speech that nobody took the time to really get to know him. Every black sheep says that. It's like their mantra. :laugh

Any early favorites yet?

chairo - June 2, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
I suppose editing does make a difference. I guess because he was the underdog from beginning I was backing the black sheep. It's early in the game so I don't really know anyone well enough to be picking a favorite. At first it was JD but then he became captain. Guess I will have to see how the next captain decides to do things before I decide if I still like him.

I think I would have really liked John if he hadn't turned into a whiney suck about not being captain and doing all the work. He should have been much more subtle in his dealings with his fellow pirates, he may have had much more success.

I can't stand JD, and didn't like him the moment I saw his picture. It's those dead eyes... :S

It's way too early to pick favourites, I guess, but I think I like Ruper... I mean, Louie, alright.

Overall, I liked the show, but some of the forced drama was a bit much for me.

funnygirl - June 2, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
It's really hard for me to hate JD. He looks so good in that hat. :laugh

I don't think the drama is forced toque. They are living in close quarters and I get the idea that the players don't know as much about the game as we do. We know that the Captain's position will change from week to week, but it seems as though the players in this game are not privvy to this information at this time. Just from the comments made by some of the cast (i.e., "if he thinks he's getting half the booty each time, he's kidding himself."). Just something to consider.

Heehee. Yeah, but thas one sexy hat. Anyone would have it going on wearing that.

Oh, sorry, I should have explained better. It's not the human drama I'm talking about so much as stuff like putting the votes on the sword and and cutting the dude adrift and how long this created drama stuff takes...
However, maybe it will make more sense when it gets down to fewer people, they know each other better and the stakes are higher.
