How is this guy a chef and he doesn't know any better than to start bawling in the kitchen when...excuse me--BEFORE things get tough? I was so sure he was going home yesterday, but he certainly doesn't have too many more episodes ahead of him.

I think the main reason is that he's working in a retirement home... I imagine things are a little less demanding there.
He is definitely over his head.

As someone who has worked in a retirement community before...the people there are absolutely AWESOME! They are so appreciative for every thing you do for them and so nice to work with. I'm speaking in "generalities" of course--there is always a bad apple or two everywhere--but by and large... it is a great work environment! It is probably very comfortable for him there.

I agree JB, I am sure the retirement community he works for is perfectly suited for someone like Aaron who apparently has no self esteem what so ever.

I think he's in way over his head... if I was on Hell's Kitchen, I'd probably be bawling like a baby too (but that's why I'd never sign up  )

I think he's a plant.

You would HAVE to pay good money to see it

I'm sorry but that "I just passed out on my feet" routine was so lame. I don't believe that was "real" not even "reality tv" real.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. I am buying absolutely none of this guy's excuses. I have worked with older cooks and chefs than him, who can withstand more stress than it takes to make him bawl like a little girl, without flinching. And all that, "I'm tired, I feel clouded, I passed out," is just more crap. He just can't handle it.
I have never worked in a retirement home, so maybe it is an easier kitchen environment than others. But I just cannot believe that a chef with no tolerance for stress, and with no self-confidence could survive in ANY environment. There is always some type of time crunch, people in the weeds, breakfast/lunch/dinner rush that you have to deal with. How do you lead your crew, or even earn their respect when you can handle so little?
What was wrong with Rock that he didn't pick him to be kicked off? How clear must Aaron make it that he couildn't possibly withstand running a restaurant?
dfleminator - June 12, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
girlchef, Rock didn't pick Aaron, because it means he gets rid of some tougher competition, and keeps Aaron around for later.
