Five will become four as we head into the semi-finals.

No suprised that Apo and Julianne get the judge's encore for their fantastic Paso Doble.

Nelly Furtado performs while Tony and Elena dance. Was it just me or did she sound awful? :oooo

We hear audience reactions and someone said it perfectly, "If you think the judges were harsh last night, wait until the semi-finals."

There is a special professional performance (called a dance off :suspicious ) Maks and his little brother with Karina and another female professional. I didn't see much "dance off" going on but it was lots of fun to see the brothers perform together.

Side note: They must do some editing of this live show because one moment Cheryl is sitting on a couch in a blue dress and two seconds later she is standing with Louis and Nelly wearing something completely different. And no, there was no commerical break.

Nelly Furtado "sings" again while Cheryl and Louis dance.

Master P shows up on Jimmy Kimmel as a "dance fairy" to help show him how to Waltz.

This week the bottom two are: Billy Ray/Karina and Joey/Kym

On this 8th week of competition Billy Ray and Karina are off the dance floor. Host Tom jokes that he got his eight. BR thanks God and Karina. He also plugs his show (actually his daughter's show) and album one last time. Well, we may hear about them again when all the stars return for the finale.

See you guys next week for the start of the semi-finals. Ohhh, this is going to be good!!! :yay:

Isn't it funny how we all see something different. Guess that it why it is nice to read others takes on these shows.

Sure thing Lpatrick, I'd dance with BR any day, even if he tripped all over my feet. It is hard to know why we like who we like but guess that is why there SHOULD be someone out there for everyone.

I thought BR gave a very nice and genuine departing speech. Actually he did mention going back to work on Hannah but the host (Tom?) is the one who brought up the album.

I lived in Texas for a few years and BR is an example of the good ole boys I met there. Humble, egotistical, but always fun.

It was time for him to leave and I have no regrets except I won't be able to see his beautiful face again. LOL

I was totally blown away that Joey was in the bottom two and Ian wasn't. Joey is a much better dancer. I hope the trend doesn't continue and he is eliminated next week. Ian does try but I almost always agree with the judges. I don't enjoy watching him and he always seems very stiff ... that wouldn't be so bad if he brought some of the fun BR did but he doesn't. Joey on the other hand is a joy to watch.

Right now I am so torn about who I want to win. I like Apolo, Laila and Joey. They are all so entertaining. I suppose I'd like to see a woman get it this year so I'll lean towards Laila who I'd like to see in the finals with Apolo.

One side not about BR and Ali ... it does appear from what was said last night that he was the only one who went and interacted with Ali. I loved it when Laila said he stole her thunder. LOL

Well guess we have the best of the best from this point forward and that is how it should be. So long Billy Ray ... I'll miss you

BR looked like Tim McGraw's twin in that hat.

Tom mentioned the plugging of BR's album because that's all BR was doing all season long. It's the only thing about him that annoyed me. I like when they show the "journey" the contestants make from the first week.

I have to say that I can really tell in Joey's face how much weight he's lost. It didn't surprise me that it was he and not Ian in the bottom 2 last night. He kind of let his fans down to please Len. :no

This is going to be the most exciting semi-final EVER!! :yay:

I have to agree with you about that FG!!!! I'm so excited.

The problem here is they are all so good. Too bad they are all competing the same year. Ian is the only one I am not crazy about. Maybe we could have a three way tie? Guess not. I am looking forward to it just like you all.

lpatrick - May 10, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)
It will all come down to the freestyle. That can make or break a couple. I still think about what Cheryl and Drew did for their freestyle. That was one of the best. I don't see her doing that with Ian.

funnygirl - May 10, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
I don't think you're giving Ian enough credit. He's finally starting to loosen up and get out of his head. It's definitely going to be a popularity contest!

chairo - May 10, 2007 02:54 PM (GMT)
It's not that Ian can't dance, it's just compared to the other three he is too stiff and is not as fun to watch. Besides if Cheryl wins again, I quit LOL.

Joey is so fun and so good. Even when he messes up a little he has a free soul about him that makes you want to just hug him. He has fun and that's what makes him entertaining.

Laila is so determined and passionate about the dancing. She has the desire and the talent to win this. She is graceful and elegant and she has a smile that lights up the room. She has so improved it is like seeing an all new person.

Apolo ... WOW ... he just blows me away with his grace, exuberance, talent and desire. Who would have thought a speed skater could tone it down and have the passion for dance he displays. Him and Laila are so close in my opinion it will be hard to be upset no matter which of them would win.

Ian has none of the things that make the others so great. He is not fun to watch and he always has an expression on his face that looks like he is in pain or would rather be anywhere else. I am not saying he hasn't improved but the other three are sooooooo much better.

Guess the free style will make or break any one of them

funnygirl - May 10, 2007 03:22 PM (GMT)
I don't want Cheryl to get the 3-peat either, but if they're better, they're better. :smug

I can't help but think that if Laila's dad wasn't in the audience last week, would the judge's have scored her so well? I rewatched it last night and her waltz was no better or worse than Joey's. I still like her though.

I had to share something I heard this morning on country radio. Apparently, Billy Ray is saying the reason he couldn't let go of what Bruno was saying (the "crap" statement) because his daughter was crying backstage.

I'm a Billy Ray fan, but I have to say that really turned me off. There is no way you can convince me that a teenager girl with her own show is so thin-skinned that the likes of a statement made by a judge that was absolutely true (by the way) is going to hurt her feelings. Back-peddling is not a becomnig look for BR, he should just suck it up and move it along. :no

chairo - May 11, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
I am not sure I find it so hard to believe. I remember one other time the judges were unkind to BR his daughter got very upset and made comment about the judges being mean to her dad

I don't know ... maybe as teenagers you all had a better grip on your emotions but not me ... I cried at everything ... and I mean everything. Feeling someone 'swore' at her dad ... well I would have been in tears too.

Just because someone is a celebrity doesn't make them immune to hurt feelings or feeling of protection for those they love.

I can't see BR did anything wrong ... would you have liked to have been told you were 'crap' in front of your children?

funnygirl - May 11, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
I call BS! He wasn't told he was crap. Bruno said his dancing was crap. It was. They had been molly-coddling him all season long and giving him credit for "trying". Nah, my opinion on the whole thing is that, coming from the wake of the whole Baldwin debacle, BR took another PR opportunity to keep his name in the media yet again.

The other dancers have all taken criticism very well. I think John said it best about as long as its constructive for the most part.

lpatrick - May 12, 2007 03:22 PM (GMT)
I have to go with FG on this one. The judges have been no more cruel this season than any other. Anyone remember all the "crap" Carrie Ann said about KeMo during Season 1? Same with Master P (and he DESERVED every harsh word. No one has complained more than BR. And Bruno did say the dance, not the man.
