Tonight someone else has to leave the dance floor. Please discuss the results in here! :)

Was anyone suprised to see that Apolo and Julianne got the judge's encore? Nope, I didn't think so. It was even better tonight. Too bad the singers didn't improve.
We were treated to a Swing performance by the professionals. It was great to see Louis and Alec again. I wish Paulina had been a better dancer with a bigger fan base so that Alec could have continued in the competition.
We get another skit from Jimmy Kimmel. This time Joey Fatone comforts Gillermo after Jimmy hurts his feelings. :giggle:
Lisa "Big Lips" Rinna, who starred in the second season was back for a performance. She and husband, Harry Hamilin (third season) are performing in "Chicago." Lisa plays the part of Roxie and she did a little number for us.
Tonight the bottom two consisted of Heather/Jonathan and Clyde/Elena. The couple leaving tonight is Clyde/Elena. Like a true gentleman, he tells how much he enjoyed being a part of the show. In parting words to the judge's he reminds them that "this is not American Idol. These celebrities aren't trying to be the next Baryshnikov or Sammy Davis, they're stars just doing the best that they can."
What did you guys think of the outcome? Honestly I think it was the right decision this time.

It wouldn't have mattered to me which of the bottom two went first but at leave America is starting to get it right. Hopefully Heather leaves next week.
Apolo was awesome. I remember seeimg him in the Olympics and was a little let down that he didn't win more but he sure is shining in my eyes now. All things being equal I'd like to see Apolo and Laila in the final two.

I think we could cut this down to a 30 minute show. Cut out the excess baggage (i.e., Lisa Rinna doing nothing resembling ballroom and Macy Gray who was there just to promote her album) and let the pros do their thing (which I love) and let's get to the results.
I disagree with Clyde. Granted, he's correct that this isn't American Idol, however, it is a dance competition and what's made the show so successful is that the stars have made it their mission to put on a great show for us, the viewing audience, each week. The man may have really been trying, but he could have fooled me. Billy Ray was doing the same thing this last week and the week before it was Laila and John. They get mad because the judges say they look like crap and that they aren't trying. Somebody has to speak for the viewing audience.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Heather in the B2. $10 says that next week there's a flip in her routine. :laugh I totally think the fall was staged and I'm glad the viewing audience recognized that the rest of her routine was crap!!

Yes, Funnygirl, me thinks our English lass did indeed go for the sympathy vote because she wasn't going to get the talent vote.
Another 'mark the calendar' day for us ... we agree on two issues. I also disagreed with Mr. Glide. They are brought on the show to prove that people who have never danced this type of dance before can learn it and master it. To say the judges have to understand they are 'stars' not dancers, who are doing this for fun, just goes to prove where his head was.
Alas we part ways on this one ... Billy Ray ... I think he really does try but I also think he is probably just a good ole boy who is never going to master this competition. He is a good singer and a pretty decent actor but dancing (at least this type) just doesn't work for him. I think, however he has given more of his heart and effort to it than Clyde did in even one moment.
Billy Ray won't win the prize for dance but I could see him winning a prize for best effort and hardest worker. He may make light of it because he knows he is failing miserably, but he's cute and has nice muscular arms and his daugther is a star, and he had his own show and a hit record so two out of three ain't bad.

:laugh Am I really that hard to agree with? :D
This past week, BRC looked as bad as Clyde on the dance floor. He walked through the steps, managed to be in the right place to catch his partner, etc. This is NOT dancing and NOT his best effort. The first dance he did in the opening show was horrific, but at least he looked like he was giving it effort. This week he looked as if he didn't care at all. ;D

I agree that BR didn't look like his heart was in it this week.
And Clyde was full of crap when he made that comment about them just being stars that aren't trying to master this competition/dance. Look at seasons past, Kelly Monaco, John O'Hurley, Drew Lachey, Emmitt, Mario among others gave it their all every week. I think Emmitt traveled more than anyone and went home with the prize. The ones who get judged for not putting in the time need to quit whining and do the job.
Have you guys forgotten about John??? No, he won't win this competition but if they gave out that award for hardest working it would be between him and Ian.
I love this season because we keep getting different stars in the number one spot and there is no clear winner at this point. But I have to agree about the whole hour long results show. It seems like they are all doing that though. I agree FG (it must be your banner day). :giggle: I could deal with the judge's encore, a dance from the pro's and then send somebody home.

Okay I was short sighted. Since I adore Billy Ray after seeing him in DOC, I have him on a pedestal ... a crumbling pedestal to be sure, but there you have it. Lpatrick of course you are right. John has been busting his buns so to speak and O failed to acknowledge his supreme and honest effort.
I also agree with both LP and FG that BRC didn't have one of his better weeks last week. As with the others he had a busy busy week of acting, singing, etc, and dancing just didn't make the top of his to do list.
Hope they all (except Heather) do better next week ... I think in the future the producers need to ask the stars how much time they are willing to comitt to this before choosing them.

This is something that I've been arguing regarding the Imus situation as well as Sanjaya...let the public decide. There was no reason to fire Imus, he could have just lost his show to poor ratings. Sanjaya will continue to get votes because he's embraced the situation and worked hard to entertain his fans. There really needs to be something said for hard work and dedication.
I think the first was a huge indicator as to how this season was going to go. They have 4-6 weeks to prepare for the first night. AFter that, it's 5 days and they have to juggle their oh-so-busy-celebrity-lives. Suck it up and figure it out folks!!
