OCCUPATION
BRAND MANAGER

Surya, 24, was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania and raised in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Surya's entrepreneurial spirit was evident early on when he started a successful e-commerce strategy company at age 15. Subsequently, he attended college and worked full-time as director of marketing at a publishing/web company, overseeing a significant marketing budget. While at Rutgers University, he was class president and commencement speaker, graduating with honors and earning a B.S. degree in finance and psychology. Today, a brand manager for a top-ranking Fortune 500 company, Surya crafts corporate strategy to help the company evolve its media plans to keep up with changing consumer habits. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering, playing basketball, reading and traveling. Surya says he should be the next Apprentice because he "can operate with the passion and energy of an entrepreneur and bring along the discipline and savvy of a corporate executive."

"Success" can mean different things to different people; what does it mean to you and how will you know when you've achieved it?
Success to me is simple and ongoing. Success is to be able to wake up every morning, look at yourself in the mirror, and be proud of the person who looks back at you. It's not about achieving this, winning that, or earning X amount of money. Success is a process.

Describe the toughest business situation you've had to deal with and what you did to solve the problem.
The toughest business situation I've had to deal with was at 21 when I had to pick the path of my business future: I could continue on the path that I had been on, entrepreneurism, and start my own business or I could accept this incredible opportunity to go work at a Fortune 50 firm. In many ways, going to corporate America would be the exact opposite of all of my work experience, and I was very torn because I loved being an entrepreneur. In the end, after wrestling with the decision, I chose to join the firm because it's the foremost place in the world to learn about marketing and observe how the very best in corporate America thinks.

What lessons have you learned from past Apprentice winners or candidates?
From watching Randal, I observed how to be cool under the worst of circumstances.

Why should you be Donald Trump's next Apprentice?
I should be the next Apprentice because given my background, I can operate with the passion and energy of an entrepreneur and bring along the discipline and savvy of a corporate executive.

What's your favorite thing about Los Angeles?
The weather in L.A. is amazing! No humidity and a cool breeze.

What's your least favorite thing about Los Angeles? And you're not allowed to say "traffic."
I may have observed a certain amount of obsession with material possessions...

What will surprise viewers about this sixth season of The Apprentice?
The candidate backstabbing.

UP CLOSE

What's your marital/parental status?
Single.

If you could be the star of any movie ever made, which movie would it be and why?
Braveheart. It's one of the most amazing movies ever - all about honor, courage, following your heart and choosing the "hard right" over the "easy wrong." I've probably watched Braveheart over a 100 times!

What are your three favorite albums of all time?
"Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen
"All Eyez On Me" by Tupac
"Parachutes" by Coldplay

What are your three favorite books of all time?
"The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri
"Robert Kennedy: His Life" by Evan Thomas
"East of Eden" by John Steinbeck

What hobbies do you enjoy, outside of trying to impress Donald Trump?
Volunteering, playing basketball, reading about history/politics, and being involved with anything Rutgers!

'The Hair"? What? Was that all that they could come up with? I was expecting something insane - false advertising, I say.

I actually like Surya. His taste in music are varied and it seems like he's worked in a lot of different kinds of businesses. He was around long enough to see the backstabbing at work, so I say at least final six.

There's only room for one "The Hair" on this show... and it's not Surya.
