Please discuss the final four and tonight's show here. :)

Well, it was an excellent show in my opinion, mainly because Ryan came back to sing Back of Your Car. I was so happy when he sang that!

Hopefully I'll have a recap up in the next 12 hours...

hello urbangirl!! Have you just finished watching??

Urbangirl - September 13, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)
Interesting show tonight.......

I really am not sure who will win or who I want to win. I probably would not go to a concert even if they did tour Australia. (Not like INXS who were absolutely AWESOME on Sat night!! Just wish that Gary Beers had worn leather pants, nto denims!!)

I like Dilana's voice, but feel that she is best suited to 'covers'. Lukas is just yuk to listen to as you can never understand what he is saying. (Perhaps if Funnygirl passed out the Kool Aid before each show this would help.) With Magni I really do like his voice, but I think his young family is going to be a factor in the band choosing him. This leave the very sexy little Aussie - Toby  He has the complete package - fantastic voice, sexy body, the girls love him, the SN boys love, he loves to party and he can write songs.

Mr Urbangirl and I believe that Magni will be sent off first. Somehow I think Lukas will win this thing, but I am sure that the rest will became bigger successes for having taken part in the show. We are actually getting the show live here tomorrow during the day so I will not have to wait to long to chat with you all on the outcome.

Go Toby!! :D  :D

Well - here are my thoughts!!

Toby - liked his cover, although I didn't think it was the most interesting performance or song; really enjoyed his original once more - thought that as I had heard it twice last week I would get bored, but I thought he really pulled out the stops energy-wise towards the end of the song.

Lukas - meh...... I preferred his coldplay version to a lot of songs he has done, but found the song itself disturbingly uninteresting. No good harmonies for me to wallow in :(

As for his original.... We actually were fast-forwarding over it, having been bored twice last week, but MrSqueaza noticed that it was acoustic, so we stopped to check it out.... Hmmmm, I didn't think it was a good bit of song-writing, but to sing it while strumming the same chord for the ENTIRE song????Q?!LK#J?G???? What's that about....

Dilana - She has totally redeemed herself in my eyes. I still think the chorus of her original sucks mightily, but the verse is vaguely interesting at least. I just love the connection she creates with the audience, as well as how much she gets her voice to reverberate around the auditorium - something that many competitors this season have really failed to do (well, failed to get it across on television). I really enjoyed her version of Roxanne, and I think that to make it sound so completely different but for it still to work is worth brownie points (or even a gold star :P) having said that, I'm not the biggest Police fan (although I love Sting!)

Magni - really really enjoyed the cover. I don't know this song, but immediately loved it, and the energy the band and Magni brought to it. His original is ok - I enjoyed it while it lasted but won't be singing it (in fact I have Toby's in my head again!!!)

Urbangirl - are you from Melbourne??? If you are maybe I'll see you at a Toby gig sometime  I belong to a wedding forum (don't ask ) and one of the girls on there had him and his band at their wedding a few years back. :O

We are in Sydney and have just spent a week at Mt Beauty & Falls Creek so didn't see last weeks show until Sunday night. Having listened to both Toby and Lukas sing the same song about three times, I have to say that both Mr Urbangirl and I have been walking around singing "oh oh oh oh oh" for the last couple of days. How did Lukas' song go again?? :wacko :wacko (I actually felt that Lukas outfit from last week looked like a he had been dressed by Pugsly Addams and Adam Ant.)

 Don't care if Toby wins or not I am sure that we will get to see a lot more of him in the future.

How ironic that the two Aussie's in the thread prefer Toby. :laugh

I thought Magni was the best last night, but the band made it clear that they do not want the Iceman fronting their band. This is good since SuperNova will only be around for as long as the tour.

Lukas will win this and they will narrow it down to between Lukas and Dilana to add some drama, but it will be Lukas in the end. :rolleyes

Let's just resign ourselves to the fact that "Snoozernova" will end and go away after tonite. I'm okay with that, let's just not try the experiment again unless it's another established group truly in need of a frontman.

Lukas just needs to go away. For all the other singers who signed on for this gig and were eventually sent home because they did not "grow" enough or "progress" enough or their stage presence "didn't change it up" enough- Lukas is a great example of just that- the same old crap week in and week out. How many of you can now anticipate with tremendous accuracy just exactly which move he's going to do next when he's onstage? How many of you are straining to understand a single friggin' word this guy "sings?" How many of you are seeing right through the hypocrisy of his anti-establishment, anger, adolescent angst BS when he's performing on network TV in a primetime slot sponsored by big corporate money? Look, he's trying out to become part of the establishment, right?

I look forward to Magni getting a recording deal because he's the one remaining person who has kept his head and kept his focus. He is going home tonite, thanks to the dismissal he received from Tommy Lee last night. I don't think he and Magni ever got on the same page and I think Tommy will gladly tell him he's going home without the false emotion and without having to hand the mike to Jason as he did last week. I will look for Magni in the future and I will buy his material, more than I can say for anyone else of the three or the band itself.

Dilana sang magnificently last night and her voice was as clear, resonant and strong as it's ever been on the show. Otherwise, Drama Dilana, see the references to Lukas above and that's where I'm at with you.

Toby would be my choice to front this band. He can get the crowd to eat from his hand, he has the energy and enjoys what he's doing. That should be enough and Gilby has always been in his corner but the question is which of the 3 Supernova guys or Dave has the biggest influence or is there a de facto leader of the band?

Bottom line- I will not be surprised but I will be disappointed when Lukas wins, I will be very surprised if Dilana wins and just a little happy if Toby wins- this will only reinforce my belief that all is not lost in the world of rock music.

As for the cover Magni performed- "Hush" was written by Joe South, who also penned other notables like, "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden," "Down in the Boondocks" and "Walk a Mile in My Shoes." Deep Purple recorded the song on their first release in 1968 and I will be the first to tell you this is a 38 year old song that still holds up! As you remember, Deep Purple had some pretty well known members through the years. Names like Joe Satriani, Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Tommy Bolin, Ian Gillan and Jon Lord. I saw Deep Purple perform at the first California Jam in April 1974. Almost 200,000 people filled the California Motor Speedway infield for a day of music that included Earth, Wind and Fire; Rare Earth, Black Oak Arkansas, Seals & Crofts, The Eagles, Black Sabbath and Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Anybodyhome, you make some good points about all the singers. INXS did not come to a unanimus decision last year on who their winner would be, so it will probably be the same here. Maybe they will throw over to Paula Abdul for some help.

My thoughts on who ever wins.....EVS :D
