Title: People's Choice Night
Description: Rock Star: Supernova 8/29 Recap

dfleminator - August 30, 2006 11:11 AM (GMT)
It's that time again. Rock Star Supernova is down to the final six. Wow, that was fast. This week it's "Fan Selection." With that said... no one gets to complain about it since it was up to you guys!!! Ok, maybe a little complaining since they have to sing the same songs that have been performed in the past. Dfleminator thinks he can take an extended vacation because of seniority, but I'm going to get him when he comes into the studio. But it's time to get the show on the road and he'll be joining us shortly.

The show starts with a revisit to last week's emotion filled press clinic. I guess Dilana has learned a valuable lesson. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all.

Back at the mansion, still more drama. I don't guess Dilana is going to feel comfortable around the likes of Toby and Magni. I don't think Lukas really cared if she strangled him or not. Dilana was feeling hurt and angry. :S: Lukas gives her words of wisdom and says, "Life's a constant clinic." In an odd moment, sitting outside, Lukas and Dilana are talking as Magni approaches. The cameras move in closer and this sets off Dilana who throws her drink to the ground. A piece of glass flies up and Magni's been cut!! I don't think she intended to do that, but if she doesn't get a hold of herself soon, we're gonna have to break out the "Drama Queen" name.

It's time now for tonight's show to get underway. Dave asks Magni about the "incident." He says he's cut himself worse shaving. Dilana feels better and is ready to rock. I can't help but notice Toby in the background. He looks like he wants to strangle her. :O

Back at the mansion, the six remaining singers find out what the fans chose for them to sing tonight. It's time for the best of the best. And Dave asks for NO train wrecks.

Lukas opens the night with "Lithium" by Nirvana. If you will remember Dilana performed this song earlier in the season to rave reviews. Before he performs Lukas gives a little insight to himself. He's hard working, likes to play basketball and video games, likes beer, even worked at Hooter's... he's just like everyone else, except he wears more make-up. I think he rocked the song. Personally, I liked Dilana's version better but Lukas did good. Dave couldn't believe he changed the arrangement but said it was awesome. Tommy said it was "talkin'" to him. Gilby thought it was his best performance.

Magni is going to campagin for votes since he's been in the bottom three. He's really quite funny saying that he's even learned our language. He calls out to Austraila saying he's better looking that Toby. Then he moves up to Canada, and he says, "Lukas? Come on." Magni performs Live's "I Alone." Once again, another awesome performace from the Ice Man. His voice is so powerful. He's growing on me each week. Dave thought it was killer. Gilby said that he gave it that extra "something."

Well, well, well... it's good of you to join us dflem. The audience and I have missed you. I know that you are one of the head hanchos around this joint but all this personal leave is a little much. :laugh Just kidding my friend, we all know that life happens and we're just glad to have you back. You just in time for Ryan and he tells that in the beginning he felt a little lost but now is showing his true self. Tonight he will perform "Clocks" by Coldplay. He starts out at the piano then he's on the piano. I know alot of people, you included dflem, like Ryan but I'm just not feelin' him. He's got an good voice but is he the best... I have to say NO. Dave thought the Dark Horse was exciting to watch. Jason doesn't know if he can keep the "plot" as a frontman.

Dfleminator: Sorry about that... I was out for supper, and finally got back. If it's any consolation, the supper wasn't that good.

Anyway, I must say that as much as I really despise Coldplay, Ryan made me love this song. Personally, this is my favorite performance of the season I think, and I am slowly liking Ryan more and more. I think he would make a great lead singer for the band.

lpatrick: Storm performs "Bring Me to Life," by Evanescence. This song has been performed twice, once by Jill and then by Zarya (anybody remember those gals?). Storm doesn't know the lyrics, so she better learn quick. Toby is going to help with background vocals. I've been a little critical of Storm in the past, but tonight she was awesome. This was my favorite performace that she's done all season. I don't know what Gilby is on when he said that he would remember Jill's version before Storm's. :suspicious Dave and Jason both thought she pulled it off.

Dfleminator: I really liked this performance as well, and I too was concerned that Storm's deep voice wouldn't work for this song. She really did awesome with a difficult song that wasn't suited for her voice at all. I completely agree that Toby upstaged her at some points, but she still was amazing. Did you notice that Toby ran back to his group before Storm could turn around and thank him? I don't think the upstaging was intentional at all.

lpatrick: Toby says he's the joker of the house. With giving Ryan a pie in the face, running around the pool naked and then getting Dilana to do the same for a song he didn't even want, I would say that the title is fitting. Toby will perform Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell." I'm so ready for this and then he's singing/talking so "deep." I loved when he was actually singing, especially the chorus. I have some mixed emotions about this performance. He did get the audience involved and had several girls join him on stage. Gilby tells him he's had a great night, stealing some of Storm's heat and took it to a whole new level. Dave gave him a "Wow Dude."

Dfleminator: I have to agree with Dave. While I missed two performances, I think this has been an awesome night so far, and Toby has done really awesome.

lpatrick: Dilana is last tonight. She readily admits she screwed up and realizes that it's ok to make mistakes. Honey, who hasn't??? We've all said things that I'm sure we wish we could take back. Hopefully she'll learn from this experience. I'm willing to give her the chance. She performs "Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham. She starts out behind a guitar and quickly ditches it. I'm glad because she kicked it after that. I'm not excited about the singer's playing other instruments with the exception of the piano. I don't know why. This was a great performance and she did use all those built up emotions. Dave told her that it was his favorite performance out of the two seasons. Tommy told her he was the King of Mistakes, you make them, learn from them, and move on.

Dfleminator: This was a truly awesome performance. I thought it was spectacular, and I really enjoyed her playing guitar, but I also enjoyed her leaving it behind. It was funny how she just placed it down gently though - it seemed kind of out of character for a rock sing. This could be my favorite Dilana performance yet.

lpatrick: Well, dflem that was the final six. All in all, I think it was a great show tonight. It's going to be tough for the fans and Supernova this week. Before the show ended Ryan, Storm and Lukas were in the bottom three. It's still early and I'm sure it will change several times. Until next time, keep rockin' people.

Dfleminator: Yes, I imagine it will change, I'm having trouble imagining Ryan being anywhere near the bottom three with his performance, and tonight will be Lukas' first chance to stand up on elimination night. We'll have to see what happens, but I don't think I'd be terribly surprised if Storm was gone tonight. It should definitely be another awesome elimination night tonight. Thanks lpatrick for covering for me last week and for the first 20 minutes this week. It's been fun, and I can't wait for the top five!

Do disagree with us? Sign up and tell us all about it! We look forward to hearing from you!

Great work as always, Dynamic Duo.

Cuts are gonna be hard from this point. I don't miss anybody that's already gone; Jill, Z and the others are distant memories, but I will miss anyone who leaves from this point on.

I know it's a competitoon meant to be won by just one, but I love it when there's two of them up there together like Magni playing guitar in the past or Tobi doing background vocals.
