Title: Dilana and the Scaredycats
Description: Rock Star: Supernova - 8/8 Recap

dfleminator - August 10, 2006 01:50 AM (GMT)
Dflem... It's Rock Star time again! We only have ten people in which to entertain us and get the gig with Supernova.

dfleminator: Yes it is, and I must apologize profusely for being so slow at getting this recap out so late. Lpatrick did her part, but I have had a ton of things come up over the past 24 hours, but I did manage to get my part done finally! Yay!

lpatrick: So they have to start the show off by showing us Magni reunited with his wife and little cutie. Do they really want me to cry during every show?

dfleminator: I feel like I'm watching the Life channel. What kind of rock show is this with all these cute babies and loving fathers? Oh, the hell with it, I'll join you

lpatrick: Ok, I'm truly convinced they want me to cry. Zarya picking out her outfits to "wow" herself? :suspicious

dfleminator: I feel more pity for her. She is one of a kind, that one. I'm at a loss.

lpatrick: The first shocking moment of the night is during song selection. This week someone will have the chance to perform with Gilby on a Who song. Who wouldn't want that? Everyone avoids it like the plague!! Don't they want to be in the band. Dilana asks three times if anyone wants the song and with no takers, she grabs it. Smart and beautiful. I'm totally with Dave when he calls everyone out, asking "What the hell is wrong with you guys?" Total agreement. Are they afraid? :O

dfleminator: I completely agree with Dave that they should all get the hatchet on the spot and give this whole competition to Dilana. I'm sure that CBS wouldn't be pleased with that choice, but I'm sure they could just fill two hours a week of Dilana singing with the band, and get pretty good ratings instead (Maybe have a five minute fashion segment with Zayra?)

lpatrick: Dilana and Gilby, along with the house band perform "Won't get fooled again," by The Who. She just gets better and better. She has so much power in her voice and performance. I agree with Dave that it didn't look like an audition, it looked like a "rock show." I got a really good laugh when he said if it didn't suck to follow her before... Gilby let it be known that a woman can front this band. Was there any doubt? I'm calling for an encore now with Dilana and all of Supernova.

dfleminator: This performance was one of my favorites of hers (and therefore one of my favorites of the season) She really showed that she does well performing with Gilby. Dilana looked comfortable, and perhaps more importantly, Gilby looked comfortable as well. Overall, I really can't get over how awesome Dilana really is.

lpatrick: Jill, Jill, Jill. She performed Tracy Bonham's "Mother Mother." She's not really screaming tonight, but the little street dance she tried to pull off and then finishing the song with a jump off the stage. Oh, I didn't mention her voice did I... moving right along. However, Tommy thought it was her best performance. Do you think she reminds him a little of Pamela?

Dfleminator: In a word, "Blah". In more: I didn't enjoy this song all that much. I don't know if it's just because of my increasing dislike of Jill, but she just hasn't stepped it up, and I think she's really a waste of space as she will quite obviously never be a member of Supernova. I must say though that in Jill's defense, she's a lot smarter than Pamela.

lpatrick: Ryan sneaks to the stage to perform the Stone's "Painted Black." At first, I thought oh no, he's going to ruin this song. But he suprised me and rocked. Supernova and Dave thought it was good. Dave told him he was now a contender.

Dfleminator: I have to say here that I was absolutely shocked. I loved his performance last week, but I chocked it up to a one time thing, where he and the song just clicked. If it was the start of a new Ryan, I am excited to see what's coming up next week. Ryan definitely did an amazing job with this song.

lpatrick: Storm performed "We are the Champions," by Queen. I thought it was a great song choice for her and Dave agreed with me once again. I was glad to see her eyes stay in her head.

Dfleminator: I miss eye-popping Storm, but I did really enjoy this performance, particularly after seeing Queen be absolutely butchered on American Idol this past season, it was nice to see someone sing a Queen song well. I'm just not getting the Supernova vibe from her, but I'd love to see her perform with a member of the band next week.

lpatrick: Now it's time for "Rock Star Planet Pluto," as Dave coined Zayra's performance. She sang "All the young dudes," by David Bowie. How many cans of gold spray paint do you think the gal used?? There's no denying that her body rocks, but she does not. And I actually thought this was her best performance. :S: Tommy likes the confidence and Jason just asked if she wow'd herself.

Dfleminator: I, personally, thought this was one of her worst performances. I thought her vocals almost disappeared behind the instruments, and when I did hear them, it wasn't at all pleasant. There's no doubt that this girl can sing, but there's also no doubt that she does not belong on this show, let alone this planet.

lpatrick: Josh is going to show us some rock and perform "Interstate Love Song," by Stone Temple Pilots. This is a great song and I'm so ready for him to "crank it." Suprise... Tommy Lee decides to perform with Josh. I really think he got a little rattled. I think Josh has a good voice, but he gets lost in the music. I totally agree with Tommy that he should not have been playing the guitar so he could have gotten more into the song. However, Gilby was happy.

dfleminator: What Dave said last week to Patrice is true again for Josh. He just disappeared in front of Tommy, and his vocals are awesome, but he just doesn't have the right vocal style for Supernova.

lpatrick: -Magni (with family in the audience) sang "The Dolphin's Cry, " by Live. This was the best song for him to perform. He performed without the house band and it was just him and his acoustic guitar. Great job. Gilby said that it inspired. When Tommy asks how it feels to have his family there, Magni is at a loss for words.

dfleminator: I absolutely loved Magni's performance, and I have to agree with you lpatrick, that it was a spectacular song choice. He definitely did the song justice.

lpatrick: It's time for Patrice to perform John Lennon's "Instant Karma." This song just has great energy. My question to you all is... why do these people think they need to play guitar??? That's Gilby's job in this band. Please just sing. She was a little too bubble gum for my taste tonight when she could have really gotten into the song and brought the audience along. However Dave and the SN guys seemed to like it.

dfleminator: Yeah, talk about a bore-fest! Patrice needed to drop the guitar and just rock it out. She needs to take a page from Storm's book of eye-popping technique or something to really wake me up, cause at this point, I plan my bathroom break around when Patrice will perform - not because she's bad, but because she's boring.

lpatrick: Lukas is up with Radiohead's "Creep." I will admit I like this song. Jason said it perfectly when he told Lukas that he "used his gift properly." I think he did a great job on this song. I know you are going to disagree with me dflem... I'll let it slide this time, but don't make a habit of it, ok.;) Tommy wanted a "Hell Yeah," from the audience and even admitted to some goosebumps.

dfleminator: You know me so well. I don't know what it is, but I just am not a fan of that style of singing. I found the falsetto very grating. Just a personal preference I suppose, but I couldn't stand it.

lpatrick: Last but not least the lovable Toby performs Talking Heads, "Burning Down the House." This is such a fun song. And Toby delievered...... until the megaphone. Dave agreed with me on that point. See dflem... it's just easier when you go along. :) I think he kicked it. It was one of his best performances for me. But let's put the megaphone and siren away in the future.

dfleminator: This performance totally reminded me of McDonalds, because - ba da ba ba ba - I'm lovin' it. I personally enjoyed the megaphone bit lpatrick, and just for the record, I refuse to just "go along". That's just not the rock 'n roll way, and you of all people should know that lpatrick!

lpatrick: Busted... I was trying to use my feminine powers of persuasion over you dflem... I knew you were to smart for that. I have to say that this was one of my favorite episodes so far. Most everyone gave a great performance. Before the show left the air the bottom three were Jill, Zarya, and Patrice. That's not a shock to me.

Dfleminator: That was definitely the best episode yet, and I have to admit that this bottom three was not a shock to me either. The international voters have shown that they do not want any of these three as a member of Supernova, week after week, so it's really only a matter of time before Supernova does the inevitable to each of these three girls.

lpatrick: RockStar fans, let's hear from you. It's ok if you agree or disagree :shifty. It's been another fun evening dflem. We've partied like rock stars and now it's time to say good night. Peace and good health to you all!!

dfleminator: Yes, it has been a blast! I can't wait for next week!
