lpatrick: Who's gonna rock? We're gonna rock, Dflem.
dfleminator: Your darn right we are! *plays loud guitar riff*
lpatrick: I've been waiting for Tommy Lee to perform with one of our contestants. The very first concert I went to as a young teenage girl was Motley Crue. I was warped for life. Patrice is being ambitious tonight and tackles "Higher Ground," the Red Hot Chili Peppers version (Dave's old band). I was a little annoyed by the hair and she reminded me of Pat Benatar. I thought there was a little too much reverb on the vocals but she handled the song well. Tommy had fun and Gilby thought she had a lot of guts to go after that song after last week.
dfleminator: Yes, I've been waiting to see Tommy play as well, and I was not disappointed. I agree on the hair. Her mohawk was a little too much. I really didn't care for the song all that much, and I didn't really care for her performance. Dave was right on when he talked about how Patrice just disappeared when she sang in front of Tommy. In all honesty, I recall the drumming more than I do the singing.
lpatrick: Josh performed "Santeria," by Sublime and it was his best perfomance ever (for me anyway.) I thought it fit his "style." Did Jason create one of those new words, dflem? He talked about Josh's musicality. Tommy said that he had the feeling of sippin' a drink on the beach listening to the song.
dfleminator: As far as I know, musicality is a word, and he was right on in his use of the word. Josh probably has the best "musicality", but good musicality does not a lead singer in a rock band make. I really enjoyed his performance, and would love to hear it over and over again, but I can't see him singing that song with Tommy, Gilby and Jason backing him.
lpatrick: Dilana took on Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough." I personally think she rocked the house. Leaving the stage and perfoming most of the song in front of the guys was genius, thought Gilby. Do you think she knew the dude who gave her the shoulder ride? What a pal. Dave agreed with me in saying she "killed it."
dfleminator: Wow... I'm going to have to slightly disagree with you on this one lpatrick. I don't think Dilana was awful, but I've come to expect more from her over the past few weeks, and I didn't feel like she delivered. Maybe it was just the song that she chose, I don't know just what it was. I didn't care for her lower register, but when she belted out the ending, she really did rock the house.
lpatrick: Toby sang Nirvana's "Pennyroyal Tea." I think he has a good voice but he hides behind the mike too much. When you do Nirvana, you've got to bring it and I think he failed tonight. I still have hope for him though. Tommy enjoys that he changes it up from week to week.
dfleminator: I have to admit, I got bored and flipped to Last Comic Standing. Caroline Rhea was doing a funny bit on marrying when you're older, since you have less time to spend with your spouse. Sorry, that's all I got.
lpatrick: Zayra... what can I even say here. She sang :suspicious Tommy Tutone's "8765309 (the most famous number in a song) Jenny." She's just a space cadet. From the way she dresses to the way she sings. SuperNova has to ask Brooke for a commerical break so they can collect their thoughts after her performance. Dave likes that she brings something different, Gilby said the vocals were off but wants to keep her around. What??? And Tommy wants to mud wrestle her. Ok they find her exotic but they are supposed to be looking for a singer for the band, not personal entertainment.
dfleminator: I can't believe that after agreeing on pretty much everything last week, we've gone to completely disagreeing on many different points. I must say that I found her performance to be much more enjoyable than in times past. Does she fit with Supernova? Not at all, but I would love to see her again anyway. *ducks*
lpatrick: Magni is up next and performs "Clocks," by Coldplay. He kind-of looks like Chris Martin if you squint. He did a good job and was more in tough with the audience this evening. Tommy had to get everyone chocked up when he asked Magni about missing his childs first steps. Magni said he was committed to the show and being a part of the band. With that Tommy tells that the band is going to fly his family from Iceland for a visit. *lpatrick sobbing for the love of a small child and the touching gesture of the band.*
dfleminator: I really hate Coldplay with a passion, and I agree that he does bear a slight resemblance to Chris Martin, which made it all the worse for me. To me he seemed clearly distracted throughout the performance, and it is obvious that he's missing his family. I'm very happy that his family will be coming to him.
lpatrick: Ok, sorry dflem and fellow RockStar fans. I needed a moment. And now Jill performs Simple Minds, "Don't you forget about me." All I can say is that I wish I could. She yells too much. I totally agree with Dave that it was the perfect time for a bathroom break. Tommy wanted the song to be sung in a lower register. See, I said she yells too much. Gilby said she oversang the song. I love it when they get it right and agree with me.
dfleminator: That's alright, we all need moments sometimes. All I really have to say about Jill's performance is... NEXT!
lpatrick: It's time for Ryan. When I heard he was performing REM's "Losing my Religion," I thought great. :suspicious Another depressing performance from Ryan. However, I was suprised and I liked him singing the song and playing the piano. His vocals were very powerful. Jason thought it was his best performance and I'll agree. I won't even go there with what Tommy Lee said.
dfleminator: You mean the part about hearing his voice on a track that they've written? Yeah, I don't know that I could go there either, but I did really enjoy his performance, and I would be shocked if he didn't get the encore for tomorrow night's result show.
lpatrick: Lukas sang "Celebrity Skin," by Hole, but he sang it to the house band. He kept his back turned to the audience most of the time. I was very confused. Gilby noticed the same thing. Lukas said he was uncomfortable with the song. Yeah, Courtney Love doesn't inspire much comfort in anything she does.
dfleminator: I completely agree, I was quite disappointed with his performance, and I felt like he really let a lot of people who have grown to expect big things from him, down. Disappointing is the only word I can think of to describe it.
lpatrick: Storm sang "Changes," by David Bowie. Vocally she is awesome. I think if she stays with a dramatic persona she could be a broadway star with those pipes. I liked her better tonight because I didn't think her eyes were going to fall out of her face. The band enjoyed the fact that she just stood there and sang. Jason called it classy. Maybe she will get the message and dial it down in the future.
dfleminator: Am I the only one who misses crazy/eyes-pop-out-of-your-head Storm? I didn't like this performance, and I found it quite boring. I hope she gets no such message.
lpatrick: Dana closes our show with The Who's "Baba O'Riley." This was her best (in my opinion). Dave thought it was ambitious, as did I. But she pulled it off. Gilby said the song is about rebellion and she tells that she's getting a tattoo tomorrow. Let's hope it's not a pink "my little pony," or something.
dfleminator: I heard it was supposed to be a tattoo of a blue bunny rabbit... but that's just what my sources tell me. I have to say, though, that I'm quite surprised with how far this girl has come in such a short time. She has really progressed from Celine Dion to rock-chick. I don't see her winning, but she should get the award for most improved.
lpatrick: Before we leave Brooke shares who's in bottom three. Is it a suprise? Zarya, Toby, and Jill. I would agree with these three but I think Lukas might find himself there before all is said and done. I think Jill should go. She's not taking the bands advice and she yells the songs instead of sings them.
dfleminator: There's not a doubt in my mind that if Jill is in the bottom three, they will cut her loose. I think she has definitely been a pain in the ass for Gilby, and I just can't see her working with these guys.
lpatrick: Well Dflem, it's been fun. I hope you all had a good time with us and join us tomorrow for the results show. ;)
I love these double-team-recaps. You two are great at this. Thank you both.
Thanks FOB!! Much love to you. We really enjoy doing the double team recap. I almost didn't get to make it to the studio with Dflem tonight B), but I got it worked out.

Okay have said my plead.......let's go to Storm's performance...it's becoming
a trend that after an encore, they pick a slower song week after.....
Singing David Bowie's Changes......Ch-Ch-Changes!!! This is such a
change from your previous performances.......but I must say....I loved
it!!!!! The song is not bad either.....it's catchy!!! Ch-ch-changes!!!!
Storm it's fun watching you!!!! It's true!!!!! You look so ever

Im biased...he's an Aussie!!!!)...
Alright, that's a wrap for week 5......I gotta start prayin tonight for
Lukas!......Till next week...Keep listening...
Great recap dflem and lpatrick. I have to say I was teary-eyed over Supernova paying for Magni's family to come over. My teenager made fun of me, but I found it to be touching. :(
