Title: ART Talk - Rock Star: Supernova 7/19

Boo - July 19, 2006 11:14 PM (GMT)
You can't be me, I'm a rock star! :elvis
Let's talk about tonight's results in here.

So Jenny goes home, not a huge surprise after Dana and Josh really rocked it out on their performances tonight. They both really surprised me. I really like Josh's voice, and I didn't think Dana had it in her. I was really hoping to see Dilana do the encore, but I understand that she did the first encore performance, so they probably want to try to spread it out a bit.

I was also disappointed that Zayra wasn't in the bottom three. How much longer can she last?

I didn't get to watch tonight but I'm suprised to hear that Dana really rocked. I like Josh's voice too dflem and am glad he did better tonight. What made his performance stand out for you? Last night when he sang Nirvana (one of my favorite bands from way back) he sang great but didn't show any power or energy. I could have seen Jenny staying longer than Dana, but again, I didn't see them tonight.

Who cares if Dilana did the first encore, she was the best of the evening. I know funnygirl, the Cranberries, but I walked around all day with her performance of "Zombie" stuck in my head. Who did the encore?

I don't even know about Zayra. It must be her accent and the fact that Jason Newsted seems to be in love with her. Meh, not impressed.

fallindownblue - July 20, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
The encore was Magni. Dana sang a Sass Jordan song (the ame escapes me at the moment). Jenny definitely kicked it up more this time but i think the consensus was that Jenny's voice wasn't good enough - I think they mean big enough to front their band.

dfleminator - July 20, 2006 11:04 AM (GMT)
I thought it was hilarious that she sang a Sass Jordan song... for my non-Canadian friends... this "underground" rocker is actually a judge on Canadian Idol... the complete antithesis to Rock Star

funnygirl - July 20, 2006 03:21 PM (GMT)
Jenny hasn't been in tune or on key since this show started. I can't help how much money she paid to have somebody put together a record for her. Mad props to Canada for not making her a music star. :D

Why couldn't Saera watch and listen to her playback (like Dana) to see how incredibly hideous her sound coming out of her face is? The smug look on her face when she wasn't in the bottom three just made me hate her that much more.

:laugh

All shall be well. One day, one wonderful, beautiful day, The Hatchetman's Axe will fall and silence those vile noises....

.....because there ain't no freaking way she can make it to the end. OH YES THE DAY WILL COME!

uh, sorry....I can't stand her either

lpatrick - July 20, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
Like the avatar FatOld&Bald.

You guys are right. She won't last for much longer.

They need to give these guys some heavier material, like ummm Metallica or some Audioslave. The need to give them a better idea of what direction the band wants.

FatOld&Bald - July 20, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
Audioslave would be great. The excuse of wanting them to fight for a good song or "rock" a normally softer song just bugs me. May as well make them write music for nursery rhymes and see who can scream the loudest.

funnygirl - July 20, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
Couldn't have said it better myself FatOld&Bald. The premise of this show is rediculous and I see them running out of stupid reasons to eliminate people. Just once, I want them to tell somebody they are high if they think they could EVER front a rock & roll band. :laugh

FatOld&Bald - July 21, 2006 01:00 AM (GMT)
OK, you've got me laughing now so I feel better. C'mon, who's on your "You've Gotta Be High" list. Please, please, pretty please, with crumbled bacon on top.

dfleminator - July 21, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)
Here's my list:

Jenny
Zayra
Dana
Zayra
Ryan Star
Zayra
Chris Pierson
Zayra

and Zayra

I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones I can think of, off the top of my head

FatOld&Bald - July 21, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
!!!!!!!!!

Laughing so hard I'm coughing now, but agreed on Zarya.

I've never been high myself but perhaps one must be in order to fully appreciate her.

Urbangirl - July 21, 2006 07:05 AM (GMT)
Everytime I watch Zayra I have "I like to be in America" from Westside story stuck in my head. Perhaps she needs to sing that song next time she is in the bottom three.

I had to laugh when she was surprised when she was in the bottom at some stage after this weeks performance. She just sucked. Simple as that. :tired

I also have to say that my boy Toby didn't have the best week, but he will bounce back.

Dilana - awesome. Plus her advise to Dana was hilarious - "They all know you are beautiful. What you need to do is open your legs"! How funny was that!!

funnygirl - July 21, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
The entire cast, save 2 people are high if they think they can front this band. Lukas and Dilana are the only two who fit the "image" of this band. I saw an interview with Jenny yesterday and she summed it up best. Lukas is the only one who would get anything out of fronting this band. Dilana could take this easily, but she's better off doing a solo album. ;)

Is it just me or does anybody else miss the workshops they used to do during last season's show?

lpatrick - July 21, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
I'm with you on the whole post FG. Did you spike the kool-aid again. I'm following you around and agreeing with you. Agghh.

I do miss the workshops. Maybe the house is just too much this time even for cable tv. :shifty

dfleminator - July 21, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
The house eps are all online at http://rockstar.msn.com

Also, in Canada, they are on Monday night :)
