Let's talk about tonight's show in here.

lpatrick - July 13, 2006 01:22 AM (GMT)
Aaagghhh!!! I missed the show completely. What happened???

funnygirl - July 13, 2006 03:21 PM (GMT)
They bitched about the comments made, Supernova apologized...sorta...Toby got encore (duh).

Bottom three were...

Jill Goia (for impersonating Courtney Love)
Saera (Puerto Rican chick who can't sing) because she's clueless.
Chris (the poser who should have stuck to commentating on AAA baseball games).

Jill sang "Wake Me Up" (Saera sp?) sang it last week and Jill made her sound like the amatuer she is. Jill oversang it and was still the best performance of the night.

Saera (sp?) sang the song she butchered the night before the exact same way!!

Chris sang Tonic's "Eyes Wide Open" accoustically and did a pretty good job.

The reporter in TV Guide said it best after Saera's performance "Chris could have farted into the microphone and sailed through"

However, because this was Chris' second week in the bottom two they let HIM go instead of the Puerto Rican princess.

The chance given for contestants to discuss the complaints was funny cuz everyone backed right off and basically said how they were just here to learn, man.

I wish they would have cut Zahyra (sp?); I think she does have an artsy appeal and a creative side, but her voice is very limited. And really, if she didn't do the homework to know more about the musicians she was auditioning to be with, she didn't really deserve more than the 15 minutes of fame she has already used up, imo.

BTW, I was prepared not to enjoy this season as much as I don't listen to the kind of music these guys do, so I may be off base here, but I really don't feel the talent pool is as solid as last year. I'll continue to watch the show, for sure, and prefer it to Idol (which I also watch ...) but I am not as involved or riveted. Are some of you enjoying it as much or more than last year?

FatOld&Bald - July 13, 2006 10:10 PM (GMT)
You're right that the singers don't seem as good as last year right now, but give them time. They'll improve and you may find yourself rooting for a few.

I remember being irritated by Magni on the first show, but after watching him interact with the others both on the show and on the "Reality Episode" from the website, I like him a lot better. The same seems true for some of the other singers. They may grow on you as they did on me.

I'm not entirely certain that the band has an identity yet. I can't fault the singers for struggling in their efforts to please them.

Well put FatOld&Bald. And welcome to ART. I don't think Supernova really has that identity yet, but we know they are going to rock. We've got hard rock to heavy metal, so I'm almost sure it will be somewhere in between.

fallin...give the show a chance. These kids are going to grow. There are a couple that are going to go far.

I just have to remember what day and time the show comes on so that I can watch.

FatOld&Bald - July 14, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
The performance show is on Tuesday, though I can't remember if it's on at 8:00 or 9:00 PM. If you miss a show, you can see each contestant's performance at www.rockstar.msn.com.

Well I have been a little backwards this week and watchd the elimination episode last night, then watched the 1/2 hour show from where they choose the songs etc today (on tape). I have only seen part of the performance show (also on tape) becuase that was up against the final of "Prison Break". (And that was AWSOME!!!)

Anyway, back to the rockers....... Funnygirl, I love that comment about Chris and farting into the mic. I was so sure that Zeriya (or how ever you pell her name) was gone this week!!! :wacko I can not believe that she sang the same song, the same awful way that got her intot he bottom 3 and she still didn't get the boot. There is hope that the goofs up next week and the same rule will apply with the band - 2 weeks in the bottom 3 and she'll be gone. My other gripe about her is the way she calls Tommy and the boys "Baby". Perhaps she should a rendition of "I want to be an American" from Westside Story.

Without really compairing these singers with those from last season, I think Jill may just be the Susie McNeil of this series. When she gets the right song, she sings great.

Go the little Aussie again!!! He reminds a little of Jimmy Barnes from Cold Chisel ( a LEGENDARY Aussie Band). Great to see him to so well.

funnygirl - July 14, 2006 02:53 PM (GMT)
I remember not liking Marty Casey at the beginning of last season and being embarassed that he was from Chicago. I was completely enamored with him by the end of last season. Not as much as Ty but he was definitely on my top 5 radar.

Does anybody else see a similarity between Dilana and Jordis from last season? I just hope she doesn't give up towards the end like Jordis. :(

Urbangirl - July 16, 2006 11:57 AM (GMT)
Dilana & Jordis......perhaps they have the same hairdresser??

Urbangirl - July 16, 2006 11:59 AM (GMT)
Whoops:wacko hit the wrong button then.( I have had a crap day!).... I also meant to say that I feel they both have a fairly deepish voice for females. They are not that whiney, prissy type of female.
