| Chris Pierson is a deeply introspective singer songwriter who, like the best of confessional performers, turns life's misfortunes into emotionally riveting music. And life can throw a lot of material your way. Chris would know. After dealing with the stress of major personal turmoil and enduring the travails of, as Chris says, "always doing the wrong thing," a friend suggested he "write it out"--advice that's served both Chris and his listeners heaps of good. After "writing it out," Chris' songs so impressed friends that he found himself booked on an open mike, and from then on life would never be the same. He pinched his pennies and bought an 8-track recorder, putting together his first CD that, by 2003, saw him weather miles (60,000 miles!) of touring as the energetic and successful artist he always was. He then moved to Atlanta where he reinvented himself a darker more mature performer. Taking in stories among the music scene, coming across some newfound and sometimes negative knowledge all his own and being introduced to different types of music, Chris would find his creative fire fueled even further. He wrote differently, expressed more intensely and continued to probe deeper. With his band, Streetlight Syndrome, Chris plunged into real issues via his music--ranging from topics as heartbreaking as depression and drug addiction. The guy is admirably unafraid, lyrically substantive, incredibly honest, humble and emotionally raw. And though Chris tackles the darker stuff, he'll still entertain your socks, pants and whatever else you'd like to be removed, off. For him, "Rock Star: Supernova" is just another step of his evolution, nearing him to deeper aspects of his continued self-exploration and soul. The one word Chris used to describe himself was "real." And we whole-heartedly agree. We also thank Chris' friend for telling him write it out, and Chris for outstandingly, singing it out as well. |
