We're halfway through, and already tonight is a lot better than last week. There have been a few that were painful to watch, but on the whole they've been very enjoyable. It's going to be hard to cut some tonight (assuming that there are no sucky people that get through)

Ok - the second half wasn't too terrible, not as bad as last night's second half... I think that my favorite two of the second half were Doug Benson and the older lady. Those are probably the only two that I'm really pulling for, although I liked the short lady with the lisp.

Stella??? Seriously??? Stella???
There's no way she deserves to be there. Argh!

I didn't think the final choices could be worse than last week.
I absolutely loved Doug Benson & many others that had no chance.

Yeah... I wasn't a Stella fan and I would have traded the really short comic for... the other really short comic, but otherwise good choices. I was happy. I wouldn't be surprised if Stella's on for the drama, though - it looked like she was already stirring the pot up in the previews.

Out of the top 12 I only agree with 3 of them. McDermott, the segway guy, Nikki Payne, Malik S. all deserved it more than anyone chosen tonight except Bill Dwyer. Wow, what horrible choices, this season is going to be a huge let down if Willy Wonka, Josh Blue or Bill Dywer don't win. They need Jay Mohr back, he had some influence on the comics chosen and at least he had taste.

I really liked McDermott and Nikki Payne as well. I'm just in complete shock that the judges can be so stupid.

Epheks, Jay had no control over anything...especially, the judges choice because the judges really weren't choosing. Again, we have to address the dreaded "deserve" word. Nobody "deserves" to be there any more than any other comic that auditioned. Well, okay there were a few that I was scratching my head at. I really wish Malik and Flip would have made it through. I do agree with all of you with the choice to put Stella through. :confused
I have to say the audience chose correctly both nights. The Iglesias guy had me rolling on the floor. As much as I love Bill Dwyer, I have to say "not so much" last night. I know he has better material.

I was surprised that Doug Benson didn't get through - his whole segway thing was not only hilarious, it was smart and well written. I missed the beginning of the show - was April Macie any better? She hasn't thrilled me in the past. Some of the other ones that were chosen (like Joey Gay) were funny sometimes but just not consistent - I can't see anyone like that lasting very long.
dfleminator - June 14, 2006 04:02 PM (GMT)
April wasn't on last night jlyl... this was the other 20 people that didn't compete last week.
I honestly didn't like Doug Benson all that much. It was a very long introduction for little payoff imo.... but I would pick him over Stella.

argh. Most of them suck. Period.
I'm still pissed about the results. lol
Of the six women, I feel only the Old Broad and Roz deserve(footnote) to be there. Of the six men, Josh and Chris. Bill and Donut boy are marginal, in my opinion.
Take out those other four women, and the other two men... and put in Doug, Josh, guitar boy, big headed guy and Nikki and another from the earlier show.
Then there's a show.
I probably won't be watching the rest.
BLAH!!! I'm so pissed.
FOOTNOTE: yeah, I mean deserve. :lol
If their material is repetitive: Keys (yeah. we get it. you're skinny. ha. I look like Mr. Burns HA. oh, dear lord.)...
or old: half of those chosen....
or just plain ridiculous: Stella...
then they don't deserve to be there. Looking around the boards, most people agree that the choices are ridiculous.

Think of it this way - we'll have some easy cuts getting to the finals
Personally, I'll be fine if they just ax Stella and April Sucksie right off the bat. Then short lady. I don't really care that much about Kristen Key or whatever her name is, and most of the guys are fine with me. And I love Roz and Old Broad.
But at least I'm not already irritiated with this season. No Gulman! (ok,so his girlfriend's still around, but she's not him - yet) No Ant! No Todd whatshisface! Ok, so they're not all Heffrons or Boddens, but I think we could be pleasantly surprised.
(and FG, note that there was no deserve in this post )
Irishtxgrl - June 14, 2006 06:13 PM (GMT)
I too don't think it is about deserving but on the other hand I will say some are just not nearly as good as others and it makes you go hmmmm how many really bad people auditioned.
funnygirl - June 14, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
I didn't get the whole segue bit so I didn't find it particularly funny either. She didn't perform again.
Epheks - June 14, 2006 11:24 PM (GMT)
This is one show you can say deserved, because some of the comics write their own material and it shows. The segway guy's was very well written and hilarious. Some people repeated jokes and when you don't have enough material to last 2-3 shows how can you last in a house based on about 10 weeks of material? When you steal jokes or don't have enough material you don't deserve to be in the house.
And Jay Mohr had a few of his long time friends in the house, in my opinion he had something to do with it behind closed doors.
