Last week, Tammy felt ganged up on by Roxanne and Allie in the boardroom while Sean hoped for her return back at the suite. In the end, Trump did not like Tammy’s leadership or her design and she was fired. Roxanne and Allie returned to the suite where Lee, ever the politician, welcomed them with open arms while Sean sulked by himself. The new episode starts with Sean swearing to take Synergy down.
It’s the final four and teams are men vs. women once again with Lee and Sean of Gold Rush taking on Roxanne and Allie of Synergy. This week, teams will meet with Trump and executives from Estee Lauder to learn what their new task will be. Trump has a moment with the exec where he talks about his signature fragrance. When the teams arrive, Trump mentions that Roxanne and Allie had a tough boardroom in which they were mean, but concludes that it was just business. The teams then learn that their new task is to create new uniforms for employees of Embassy Suites. Not sure what this has to do with Trump cologne, but I guess one of the reasons Trump is so filthy rich is because he knows how to promote himself.
For Gold Rush, Lee takes on the task of Project Manager and starts talking focus groups while Sean gets straight to bashing the women and priding himself in being a metrosexual. Lee and Sean arrive at Embassy Suites to meet with the execs and learn about the company and the brand. The execs stress that the employees have to be the ones that are most happy with the designs, so the guys go around the hotel speaking with employees and learning that most of them are pretty happy with what they have now. They think that they should just add a few key elements suggested by the people they spoke with.
Over at Synergy, Roxanne and Allie have the same meeting with the execs where they conclude that rather than just tweaking the current uniform, they should create something completely new. The women speak to the employees also, mostly about the idea of culottes, which seems to fall flat. Ivanka shows up and asks the girls who the PM is and they reply that they hadn’t even thought of it. On the spot they decide that Allie will be PM because she “needs to get a few wins under her belt” but the girls later have a love fest in which they decide that they really are a team of equals.
Trump’s Tip of the Week
“Work vs. Friendship”
You can have friends, but don’t let that get in the way of business! When it comes to business, beat the crap out of everybody, even your friends!
Is this directed at Roxanne and Allie?
Gold Rush meets with their designer and tells him their ideas, which seems to go smoothly, and the guys declare that they are trying to keep things simple and functional. Synergy also meets with their designer, who happens to sometimes design for Melania, and they talk mostly about bringing some style to the uniforms. Allie makes an executive decision to design a skirt for the women at the front desk which worries Roxanne who feels sure that the women working there would rather wear pants.
Gold Rush heads to the fabric store where they pick out mostly cotton and Sean seems to have suddenly transferred to Project Runway. He picks fabrics right and left, easily making decisions. Lee couldn’t be happier.
Synergy has now moved on to the sewing room where Allie works to micromanage the designer. While Sean appears to be on Project Runway, Allie appears to be trying too hard to be on Project Runway. Not only is she rude to the designer, she calls him by the wrong name. Things aren’t looking good for her and Roxanne has even stopped being her best pal by now.
At the fashion show on the day of the task, Sean gives the models detailed directions while Lee looks on. At Synergy, Roxanne and Allie give direction to the hair stylist, telling him that it’s okay for the models to look a little sexy. Both teams seem to be very pleased with their designs. The fashion show begins with the front desk uniforms. Gold Rush is definitely traditional while Synergy’s adds some flair. This held true for the breakfast chef uniforms as well, but Synergy seemed to go over the top. Their uniform seemed to come straight off of a runway while Gold Rush’s was pretty boring, but it was clear that none of the chefs voting could see themselves actually wearing the thing. When it came to Bellhop, Synergy really dropped the ball, creating something that as Sean put it, would completely emasculate any of the men wearing it. Once again, they were definitely more stylish than Gold Rush, but they neglected the functionality. The last designs were for the suite keepers uniforms. Once again, Gold Rush went for comfort and function, which seemed to please the employees voting. Synergy followed through with their culotte idea for the suite keepers, which again fell flat – big surprise there, but the highlight was Sean truly revealing his metrosexualness by declaring that the cast of Dynasty called and they want their shoulder pads back. Additionally, Gold Rush stuck with a dark color for the suite keepers while Synergy went with a goldish-beige, which I imagine would be very hard to keep clean. Allie and Roxanne seem very pleased, but I don’t see any way that the task can turn out well for them.
Everyone assembled for the results with the requisite chitchat between the Donald’s kids and the execs before Trump’s carefully calculated limo entrance. The teams arrive to hear their fate and learn that the execs have chosen a winner whose designs they plan to use throughout their organization. Ivanka read the comments for Gold Rush which mostly applauded the comfort and functionality of the garments. Of the employees, 83 preferred Gold Rush. Synergy’s comments mostly focused on the lack of practicality and Synergy only received 37 votes. Employees appreciated the fashion of the women’s designs, but did not feel that the clothes would be wearable for the average person. Sean, of course, was very excited by his win and dedicated it to Tammy.
Donald told Gold Rush that their reward would be the one that he would most like to have – dinner with his children. At dinner, Don and Ivanka talked about how NOT spoiled they were and described their parents as strict. Ivanka asks the men about their previous rewards and Sean chooses the diamonds as his favorite, saying that he hopes to be able to give his diamond to Tammy. More Sean gushing … blah, blah, blah … the kids gushing about The Donald … blah, blah, blah … he only good tidbit that we got was that Trump wears a pink bathrobe.
Enough of the small talk, though, let’s see how well the girls are faring in the suite. Is it the end of a friendship? Or will they wait until the boardroom to turn on each other? No, wait, they’re going to have a little love fest while they lie in bed and cry about having to leave each other. Roxanne declares, through her tears, that she will not throw Allie under the bus.
In the boardroom, Trump gets straight to the point and asks Allie what went wrong. Allie stood by their designs, saying that they had created something fashionable and edgy. Ivanka jumped right in, listing the reasons why their designs were not functional. I think that she is actually more of Carolyn’s apprentice than her Dad’s. Trump turns his attention to Roxanne, asking her if she thinks she could have done a better job as PM. Don jumps in and tries to help Roxanne in her awkward moment, saying that with only 25% of the vote, she couldn’t have done worse. Trump asks Roxanne the question again and Roxanne said that she may have done a few things differently, such as putting the front desk person in pants. Allie insisted that Roxanne had never brought that up and claimed that they had worked as partners. Ivanka pointed out that Allie should have set her friendship with Roxanne aside when she had the responsibility of being the leader.
By this point, Trump starts asking who should be fired and Roxanne hedges, saying that she wishes they both could stay, then reluctantly saying that she should stay rather than Allie. Allie, however, is not hampered by their friendship when she tells Trump why Roxanne should go home. This causes Roxanne to give up the diplomatic route and point out the way that Allie treated the professionals that they worked with during the task. At that point, the boardroom collapsed into the two of them talking over each other. Then, things got really good as they threw off the gloves and really went at it. Were they really crying and hugging last night? Maybe my eyes deceived me. Trump actually speaks up wisely, pointing out that their losing has caused them to attack each other. He said that he’s never seen two people with such a close relationship go after each other like they had. He’s highly disappointed and … I feel it coming … wait for it … they’re both fired. BUT … there’s a happy ending. When they leave the boardroom, they agree one thing without argument – they’re still friends.
Next week, Sean and Lee will find out that they are the final two!
Thanks for another great recap! I just watched the show today and I have to say I'm pretty surprised by the final two.
