We are not able to copy the posts over. But don't worry about another move happening. This is our home from now on and all of your posts will be saved. This board is 20x's better and easier to maneuver around, sorry that all your other posts are lost. But from now on there is no need to worry about that happening.

I got a new question...
what do the blue dots on the main page with ipb mean??
metro
dfleminator - March 4, 2005 11:40 PM (GMT)
Those dots that are next to each forum name, are simply the symbols that mark if you've read all the new posts in that forum or not. If the dot is a darker blue (I think) then there are unread posts, and if it is a paler color then there are no new posts.
The IPB stands for Invision Power Board, which is the company that hosts us. The reason that the Other Reality forum doesn't have an IPB dot next to it, is because it has the subforum for Project Runway in it as well.

I have a question....
Can any member start a thread or is that just reserved for admins? Looks like it's been admins who have started all the threads to date and I had some I could post, but didn't want to overstep boundries.
dfleminator - March 14, 2005 12:48 PM (GMT)
You can definitely start threads. Admins have generally started most of the threads, but others have started a few as well. When starting threads, we just ask that you try and use common sense. Don't start a thread saying you hate Nikko Smith's voice, and that he should have never even made it to the judges... if that's your opinion, then go to his thread and post it.
But if your topic isn't covered in another thread, then we DEFINITELY welcome other people posting threads :)
jonnysbandit - March 14, 2005 12:55 PM (GMT)
Thanks! I was thinking of adding some threads to the game forum but wanted to ask first.

what's the difference between an open topic (blue colored envelope icon) and a hot topic (red colored envelope icon)???
I'm guessing something to do with frequency of posts, no???
Epheks - April 16, 2005 09:02 AM (GMT)
Yeah, a hot topic is something with lots of discussion in it in a certain period of time I believe. A normal blue one is just a normal topic with not as much discussion.
dfleminator - April 16, 2005 11:54 AM (GMT)
We have set it the number of posts required for it to be a hot topic. This means that hot topics will probably be staying in the fun and games forum until we grow a little more :)

OK ART admins.... next question....

Why can I no longer see all forums when I pop by without signing in first? It hasn't always been this way. Is this permanent?
Bored - June 16, 2005 04:13 PM (GMT)
We just cut down the amount of forums that guests can access for signing up incentives  As a guest, you can only view the reality TV forums and this forum. Once you sign up (or log in), you can see all of the forums.
jonnysbandit - June 16, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
Too bad since I'm not watching any reality tv this Summer and I only post in the Amusement area, which now I can't see unless I log in to see if anyone has posted there and if not have to log right back out again.
dfleminator - June 16, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
I usually just click the "Remember Me" box when I log on, so that I don't have to log in or out. I don't know if it's possible in your situation, but that's what I do.
jonnysbandit - June 17, 2005 12:43 PM (GMT)
Can't do that at work. My computer set up is such that it can't remember passwords, stuff like that for security reasons.
dfleminator - June 17, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
Alright, well we decided that you had a good point, so we granted access to guests to read the Amusement Park. Hope that helps :D
jonnysbandit - June 18, 2005 01:42 PM (GMT)
:crazy Thanks guys! You didn't have to change that for little ol' me, but it is much appreciated!
metro - July 17, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
I got a question for the ART admins...
My post count seems to be stuck on 125....
Is that fixable??
-metro
ETA: sure now that I write a note about it, it starts counting again???? ....strange!
Bored - July 18, 2005 12:22 AM (GMT)
Have you posted in any forums aside from the Amusement Park? Posts in the Amusement Park don't count, so that could be why your post count has slowed down.
metro - July 19, 2005 05:19 AM (GMT)
D'oh, that's WHAT the problem is.....
oh well, in the fall when TAR8 and Apprentice4 start, I'll have something to post again in the reality TV treads :S
thanks bored,

I have tried to upload an avatar from my computer. It uploads, but all it says under avatar is "uploaded avatar 90 x 90" with no pic. I've tried this a number of times with different icons, but it's not working?
Can anyone help? :)
dfleminator - November 16, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
I've had this problem as well, and it ended up being my Norton Adblocker (with Norton Internet Security) For some reason it blocks some avatars. We can all see your avatar toque, I'm not sure why that is, but if you want to enable ads from this site (since there aren't any, other than google ads when I forget to pay for ad removal) then you should be able to see your avatar.
toque - November 16, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the quick response, dfleminator. :)
I'm not quite sure how to do that with my McAfee spam blocker, but I'll go and see. *hugs*
funnygirl - November 27, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
Is there something wrong with the PM or is it just me? :confused
dfleminator - November 27, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
It's not just you... apparently it's working for some, but not for others... I'm still waiting on a solution for it from the invisionfree staff.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
funnygirl - November 29, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
I'll send you the bill for the extra meds I had to get not being able to banter with my buds via PM over the holiday. :(
dfleminator - November 30, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
 Sorry... you can send those bills straight on to Invisionfree, and save me the postage of sending it on to them myself.
It should be fixed now.
funnygirl - November 30, 2005 06:28 PM (GMT)
Bureaucratic red tape. :no
jonnysbandit - December 22, 2005 04:18 PM (GMT)
I know this has been addressed in a way before but why don't posts made in the amusement park count? Some people who post there don't post alot elsewhere and the posts there do make up a good portion of the page hits here probably. Just wondering...
Bored - December 22, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
Really, it's just a matter of making sure that people who are post-count hungry don't start spamming it up in the games forum. We want to make sure that people see the games as a fun outlet that everyone enjoys and are a very important part of the website, but we don't want to give people incentive to start posting mindlessly to see their total rise (and, unlike the major forums, the majority of the moderation in the forum is done by one person, the amazing JB who I'm talking to right now , as opposed to six or seven, and we don't want to have JB picking out post-fiends in the forum by her lonesome )
Of course, that's just me... the other fantastic five might have a different answer for that question
jonnysbandit - December 22, 2005 08:06 PM (GMT)
I understand your point and it is noted Bored, but I'm thinking for people who mainly post in the AP, they may feel pressure to post in other threads they are not necessarily interested in just to get some post count--see what I mean? I could go both ways. But I certainly respect the decision of the admins about whatever you decide. :)
