Urbangirl - December 1, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
Well, as some of you know I am a bit of an 80's tragic and just love listening to music from the 80's. Movies from the 80's are also a favourite of mine - especially the ones like Footloose and Ferris Buellers Day Off.
What are your favourites....come on now I am sure that some of you are old enough to remember the 80's!!! :S

I used to LOVE Billy Idol! Also used to listen alot of Big Country, Duran Duran, Wham! Elvis Costello, and my favorite song of the 80's hands down is "You Spin me right 'round baby, 'right round..." Don't know the exact title or even remember the band but I still love that song--it takes me right back!

I can't believe I am here and admitting this but I LOVE Duran Duran. There I said it. *lpatrick will call for an extra therapy session in the lounge this week* :)
What about that song..." I wear my sunglasses at night." And who can forget Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl"

The very first ever concert that I went to was Duran Duran and then that same Christmas my sister gave me a ticket to the Wham! concert. I was living in canberra and the concert was in Sydney (4 hour bus trip away) so it was aBIG adventure for me as a 15 year old to go stay with my big sister and her friends and then go see Wham!. I even confess to have a "Choose Life" T-shirt. :D
Jonnysbandit - the band that sang "You spin me right round" was ( I think) "dead or alive
Coery Hart sang "Sunglasses at Night" and boy was he a dream boat or what??? Rick Springfield was (and I reckon still is) a great bit of eye candy. (Plus he is Australian!!!.)
Remember Bonnie Tyler and "Bright Eyes?".
Does anyone remember "Bucks Fizz"??

Hey lpatrick... would you believe I STILL listen to Jesse's Girl? It's one of my VERY favorites!
Urbangirl... I was also a HUGE WHAM! fan.
This past summer I went to Portland, OR with a bunch of girls. We were in a Japanese Karaoke bar (I know that sounds bad, but one of our girls likes to sing). This busload of "girl scouts" arrived... NAUGHTY adult girl scouts, out having fun. One of the girls got on stage and sang 99 Red Balloons. She sang the beginning in German, the middle in English, and the end in German. It was so amazing and everyone went wild. So there's another favorite:
99 RED BALLOONS

And who can forget Falco?! I was really shocked to hear about his death several years ago. I have all his albums--converted to CD even! I'm such a dork! :laugh

Is that '80's or is that '70's?
I loved David Bowie's China Girl and Let's Dance!

Some of my favorite 80s pop songs are--Cruel Summer by Bananarama; Roxanne by The Police; I Got A New Girl Now by Honeymoon Suite; Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield; Eyes of a Stranger by The Payolas; Let The Good Times Roll by The Cars; Birds Fly{Whisper To a Scream} by Icicleworks; and Take On Me by Aha--just to name a few of the many great songs from this era.

Do you remember the first band that you saw?
