Trump Will Cameo on Stewart's 'Apprentice'

Martha Stewart and Mark Burnett are stressing that her version of "The Apprentice" will have a different look and tone from Donald Trump's show. But they aren't distancing themselves entirely from the original, either.

In fact, Stewart says Trump will put in an appearance on her show, which debuts Wednesday, Sept. 21 on NBC -- a day before the fourth Trump-led "Apprentice" begins.

"Donald will be on the show in a cameo where he takes a tour of the loft where the candidates are housed," Stewart told reporters Thursday (Aug. 25) at a press conference. "It's quite different" from the Trump Tower suite where contestants in the original show live, she adds.

Those differences, Burnett says, will extend to the rest of the show as well, beginning with the theme song. Where Trump's "Apprentice" has "For the Love of Money" by the O'Jays, Stewart's show will open with "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" by the Eurythmics. (Stewart, by the way, says she "loves" Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox.)

"My job is to analyze the subject matter ... and create a look and a feel that reflects the business," Burnett says. Whereas Trump is in the "rough-and-tumble" business of real estate, Stewart's lifestyle-oriented company is more "artistic," he says.

That will mean a "lighter" look to the show, Stewart says. And though she and Burnett aren't saying what her dismissal catchphrase will be -- or even if there is one -- she definitely won't be telling people they're fired.

"I don't think I've ever told anyone they're fired," she says.
